Hey, everyone! I was curious if there is anyone out there that is keeping a blog to document their journey? I created one myself: backtodani.com. I would love to hear about some other blogs out there as I'm curious about others journeys as well. Thanks!

Any Sleeve Bloggers Out There?
BacktoDani replied to BacktoDani's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would be interested. Thank you! -
I'm on my second week diet, which means full liquids for me. I had a cup of tomato and red pepper soup.

Oh for sure! I'll keep you posted

Uncontrollable Itch (WARNING Picture included)
BacktoDani replied to TraceyH04's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I totally feel you. I was fortunate enough to have my bandages fall off in a few days. But the itching was still there due to the healing. I wanted to scratch at it SO BAD!! I found that putting ice around the areas helped. It would kind of numb it. You can also use an over the counter itch cream if the ice isn't working out. Good luck! Hope it starts to feel better soon! -
How many calories do you consume?
BacktoDani replied to Kate D's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been counting calories, but for the same reason abefroman329 is. MyFitnessPal gives that information and I don't want to pay to unlock the other portions ;). I am 2 weeks post surgery and I've been eating between 500-600 calories a day. I'm only averaging about 40g of protein a day. I'm hoping to get in more when I have more options. -
I was ordered to be on a liquid diet for the first week. I am in my second week now. I am allowed to have "full" liquids this week. The third week I can move on to pureed foods. She said to do that for the full week and then, when I feel comfortable, start trying soft foods. The one thing I have been a bit confused on is portion sizes and calorie intake. I know we are supposed to eat until we are "satiated" and not full. Which is what I do. But I'm afraid my portion sizes are not big enough. I've been keeping active, so want to make sure I'm taking in the right amount. Good luck to you!

Diarrhea during post-op liquid diet?
BacktoDani posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I had my surgery on 1/10. The first few days were a bit rough with gas pain, but now that I am on day 6, I'm actually feeling really great. I am currently on a clear liquid only diet (SF Popsicles, Broth, WATER). I'm getting my liquids in, I'm walking (avg 8,000 steps a day). I feel like I'm doing very well! Unfortunately, yesterday and now today I had two explosive BM movements. Both had a yellow/brown watery consistency. It reminded me when I had tried the Ally pills (diet pills). Those pills used to take some of the fat out of food. But I'm not eating any food. So it seems weird. I feel great otherwise. I do not feel sick or weak. I'm getting my chores done. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this or knows why this may happen? I've called and left a vm with my Dr. office and haven't heard back yet. So wanted to try my luck here to see if anyone else experienced this too. Thanks! -
Diarrhea during post-op liquid diet?
BacktoDani replied to BacktoDani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PHEW! Thanks for responding. They haven't called me back, so it's nice to hear something. I'm not worried though cause I feel good. but still...... Congrats to you! YAY surgery sisters! I was only on a liquid diet for two days prior to surgery. I went 4 days without a BM and I thought that was going to be a problem. But then the gates opened, and I started getting relief! -
Hey Jody! I was able to have two “movements” today which gave me a bit of relief. But back to gas cramps every time I take a swallow. And the chicken broth I got is so gross!!! But I’m still pushing through. I walked a total of 8,223 steps (3.56 mi). I feel like today is a little better then yesterday. Just hope it continues to get better every day. My first post op appointment is on the 18th

I do have Instagram lol I just never heard it referred to as IG. My IG is Crazzychk. I actually had my first “movement” today. It has given me some relief. Small miracles!!!!
-
Stupid question, what is IG? I have been able to drink close to my amount I need to, but it’s no picnic. Hurts so much. I was only put on a liquid diet a day before surgery. I’m wondering if I need to have a “movement”. I keep trying, but I got nothing happening!

I don’t want to sound mean, but it is refreshing to hear someone else is having the same pain as me. Like I’m not dealing with it alone. Let’s cross our fingers and hope it gets better sooner then later!!!

Intro time: who's new to the group, who's pre-op, & who just recently made it to the loser's bench?
BacktoDani replied to xoxococojay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm day two after surgery. I'm in a bit more discomfort then I was at the hospital. Probably because I don't have all the "Good Stuff" they were medicating me with to help. I can walk around well. My issue is having really bad gas pains. It hurts even if I take the tiniest of sips. Which makes it hard to get my intake in, but I'm doing it because even though it is painful, I know dehydration would be worse. They were giving me a chewable gas medication at the hospital but didn't prescribe any or write any down on my discharge sheet. I'm thinking of getting some Gas X as I have read others found this to be helpful. I can pass gas, burp, but have not passed a bowel movement yet. I'm assuming because I've been on liquids since Tuesday. I do not feel like I need to, and I keep trying because I feel like having a movement would help with some of this built up gas. I was also concerned because my left side shoulder is painful, but they said it was okay as long as it didn't get worse. I just need to keep reminding myself that this will pass and to keep at it. It's not been too fun so far. But have to keep remembering why I did it and hopefully this stuff goes away. -
My surgery was on 1/10/18.

I just had my surgery 1/10. I am struggling with the gas pain/cramps. I can take the smallest of sips and I feel that gas bubble moving. I've been able to pass gas and burp. I'm walking very well. I did .5 mile walk this morning and about to get out and do another .5 mile. I'm getting the liquids I need but it's just so painful. Luckily no nausea or vomiting. Just a lot of discomfort with the gas. I also have a sharp pain in my shoulder from the gas. I've been using a hot compress which helps alleviate the pain. I know this is all pretty normal, but it sucks. lol Anyone else have the constant gas issues? And if so, how long did it last?

Hey! Not sure why I waited this long to look into a support system online, but glad I came to my senses and signed up! I have my surgery tomorrow AM. I think it's finally hit me that it's happening. I'm feeling every emotion right now. I guess that is a good thing, right? I understand the commitment and life-altering changes but committed to doing so because I have the power to make these new memories and changes be for the positive. Took me about a year to go through the process (tests, labs, evals, etc.). They only made me start a liquid diet today (day before surgery). I move to clear liquids by 12 am and my surgery is slated for 7:30 am. AH! haha.. so excited/nervous/anxious/scared/etc.
