Lapband surgery in Mexico
cosmos110 replied to SHARONCRIST1955's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
So, Your not a four legged carnivor. I've been looking through your past. You and Snowbird seem to always be Johnnie on the spot when someone tells the truth about Mexico. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise, you use the same old lines over & over. Even the part about anybody who disagrees with you is an unworthy Newbie. How dare they contest you with your 5000+ postings. Nos Vemos, mas tarde. -
I'm sorry. How careless of me. Call Dr. Rodriguez and I can assure you he has all the facts. Why get them from me. For some reason unknown to me I might be telling you a big ole LIE. As soon as you figure out why I'm lieing to you about this, please let me know.

1. Rodriguez is a very average Mexican doctor. 2. I worked in Tampico for 4 years. Three weeks there & Three weeks here. I never said I lived there. 1980 to 1984. 3. Dr. Rod took 2 hrs longer than the 1 1/2 hrs. scheduled. I'm convinced the band was on too tight. Most of what I read now days points to The surgeon putting the band on too tight as the reason for erosion. The beauty of it is "we'll never know". Because it was done in Mexico. It's dead & stinkin, South of the border. Thats where it'll stay, and my money with it. I'll give you one thing, You sure know how to spell Coyote.

Good Observation. I am being slammed for my newbie status. But I can't resist the opportunity to warn people who are looking for some input. I didn't research my decision for 2 years like you did. I simply couldn't find much input for Mexican surgeons. You'll notice that Sroussell started this when she stated "I feel so lost". I know what she is talking about. I feel that I am a case in point, Nobody wants to be me !!!

Hello, I'm Cosmos's Paranormal Medium. I'm replying to you because Cosmos just dropped dead from complications of his Mexican Lapband. Poor Cos just talked to me on the ouija board. He told me to keep the message alive that you have no recourse from Mexican Medical Complications. Thats why it's cheaper down South of the border.

This is to SROSSELL. If you go to mexico and everthing goes without a hitch, then I'm glad for you. But listen to the few of us who had problems. My Doctor ( Arturo Rodriguez ) was concerned about me but only if it didn't dig into his pocket book. I'm certain he would have let me die if it had been a matter of whose paying. Thats not unusual because the country of his birth and raising has a lot of people who die for a lack of money. I worked in Mexico for 4 years. Thats how it is there. You've only got this one chance to mack a safe choice. Once they get thier hands on your money then it's a matter of luck.

I tried Aetna. looks like you have to be a member to get details. I carried Blue Cross Blue Shield for 4 years. They would not even consider a lap band for my policy. I tried to get dental done in Mexico, they wouldn't even discuss it. Should I assume that you have a company that buys you such a special plan that people like me can't even imagine it. I guess my little insurance plan is just not worthy. I'm not special enough. It's just funny that I get such a different story from my insurance company than yours. If your sincere then I apologize. How come I never heard of this special policy?

I've got Cigna, and yes they won't even consider it. Would you mind me asking what is your insurance company w/ph#. I'll call them and apologize muy pronto amigo.

Here we go. Dear Snowbird. Your telling me that your insurance company here in the U.S. approved your lapband and then you went to Mexico and Your U.S. Insurance company paid a Mexican Doctor to Band You? I hope thats not what your telling me !!! As I read these blogs I know full well that a lot of postings are from Mexican Cayotes. All readers need to be aware of that. Anyone who doubts it need only pick up thier phone, call any insurance company in the U.S and they'll laugh you right off your chair. I've dealt with Insurance Companies here enough to know that each Insurance Company has thier list of approved Doctors AND there ain't none of them in MEXICO !!! CAN YOU HEAR ME ?????

I don't like slamming good people. Arturo Rodriguez is a fine fellow and I know he has done a lot of good work. Lap Band $10,500 transportation to Monterrey $1,100 for two trips $1,200 worth of fills $ 600 Endoscopy $ 2,000 Pnumonia related $ 2,500 debanding I rounded it off to $20,000 The only reason I am telling this story is If I had heard it before I went to Mexico, I might not have done it. God I wish I hadn't. I hear all the success stories. I'm not one of them. I'm broke and no hope of getting another band. When Arturo decided to deband me there was no fear of malpratice. Thats not how things work in Mexico. Not your lucky day. If you decide to go to Mexico, I wish you the best of luck. I don't want to see anybody else in my position. Good Luck with your decision

Thank you for the exercise. Somebody's got an agenda. You said it all rather you know it or not.

Hello. I'm fighting a lone battle here. Up above in my other post is the story of how I paid close to $20,000 USD for a band in Monterrey, Dr. Arturo Rodriguez. Thats the band, several trips to Monterrey etc. I was debanded after a year from what was a clear case of faulty installation. Talk to the people who do fills here in the USA. They'll tell you that it's crazy to go for serious surgery in a place where you can't drink the Water. I have no legal recourse. My money is gone and the only thing I gained is more weight. Which I'm still gaining. I'm reading these replys and I'm convinced that the majority of the replys are cayotes. The people who are paid a percentage for each customer they get. All the Mexican doctors have them. What possible reason would I have to lie to you. I'm passoniate about the bad decision I made. I'd give anything to back up the clock and get a good doctor here. Talk to some fill centers. Fill center USA. Or any of them. They'll tell you. Good Luck

Not trying to be rude, but >>> Tell me about that after you've lost $20,000 off you ass and gained 25 lbs on your stomach. You can't begin to imagine loss until your left broke after you paid for something and there is no Legal Recourse. Lo seinto Senior. This person asked for experience to make a decision. It cannot be understated that there's a reason why it costs less South of the Border.

Excuse Me.I've been there. I could get a fill at Wal Mart here in the states. It was anything but that. No doctor would touch the leaking port here, Go back to Mexico. Erosion, Go back to Mexico. Endoscopy, Go back to mexico Etc. Etc. Arturo Rodriguez is a fine fellow. He's dedicated and friendly. I speak Spanish and I like him a lot. Point is that You couldn't hold a gun on me and get me to any other country in the world for medical anything. An American is used to some recourse and when you cross that border you wave those assurances.

Hello My Name is Victor Heddins. I got a lapband In Monterrey Mexico about a year ago. I came down with penomonia after the surgery. My doctor was Arturo Rodriguez. After 6 months of recovery I started to get fills. Two months ago I went back to Monterrey and found that through "Erosion" my band was now inside my stomach. It had cut through my stomach and was blocking my intestines. For an additional $2500 Arturo rodriguez used an endoscopy. He cut the fill port out and then pulled the lapband out through my mouth. Talk to people at the fill centers and you'll soon find out that Mexico looks attractive but is No Bueno. I had to go back to Mexico because no doctor would touch me here. The malpractice was too great. Go back to Mexico was all they would say. Don't do it !!!!
