My journey is exactly like yours so far! Be happy, I think it's going great and we will be very happy. Just give it a little time:)

You can say that again. Just because the surgery is done, my brain still has it's quirks. Since i'm all healed up, i even forget that i've had surgery and fall back into my bad habits for a minute or two.

Taste bud changing thing was no joke
cindy t replied to sleevegirl88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have to agree. Funny how it feels like a disappointment when you don't like something you used to enjoy. I never drank a lot of coffee but i loved my morning half a cup. Now, i still pour it up, but it just doesn't taste all that great anymore. I also don't seem to crave sweets quite as much as before. -
I'm curious about the crushed ice. Is it because you just like it or are you craving it? Reason i ask is because i've read where you could be anemic if you crave crushed ice.

Same time frame, same results for me too. I had a lap-band for ten years and i know that sometimes they say it can be a little slower if you've had the band. I'm assuming it's because we are somewhat used to the restriction already. I don't mind slow and steady as long as it doesn't come to a permanent halt!

I sent you a message. Our stories sound almost identical!

Same feelings, lol. I haven't had a problem at all with liquids.

Yes, tired is one of my top complaints this week! I could close my eyes at any point during the day and fall asleep. Probably lacking in a few departments...

RECOVERY IS MORE COMPLICATED THAN I THOUGHT!
cindy t replied to Frustr8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard that burping/belching can be a symptom of gall bladder issues but after googling, it might just have something to do with how you are reacting to the surgery. Here's what I found: Burping is a normal physiological mechanism that help to get rid of ingested air from the stomach. During every swallow a small mount of air is ingested. The build up of air stretches the fundus (top part of the stomach) and results in a brief relaxation of the valve at the lower end of the oesophagus (gullet) resulting in venting off the trapped air. This is the classic gastric burping and it is the type that can increase after sleeve gastrectomy. In addition to burping air from the stomach there is another type of burping called supragastric burping. In this type the vented air does not come from the stomach but instead it is sucked into the oesophagus just before it is expelled out. Ordinary individuals who suffer from excessive burping almost always suffer from excess supragastric and not gastric burping. This type of burping is not affected by sleeve gastrectomy. -

RECOVERY IS MORE COMPLICATED THAN I THOUGHT!
cindy t replied to Frustr8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am exactly two weeks post op. Overall, it went as i thought it would. The only surprises were: 1) I felt like a zombie (kinda outta my head) for the first full week. 2) I had way less restriction than i thought i would. (I had a lap-band till three years ago.) I'm thinking i was possibly used to that feeling of restriction and maybe expected more. I'm sure it'll show it's face once i start "real" food. 3) I thought the surgery would decrease my appetite more. I'm sure it has to a degree but my head still longs for flavors and textures quite a bit. I have no regrets, so far so good. I feel like my normal self now. I'm ready to move to the next phase but can't for another few days per my instructions. Everything is just about healed. No nausea, vomiting, headaches or gerd. Ready to put, Popsicles, jello and yogurt behind me! -
I can relate to that statement 100%

Same day, same surgery. Not feeling "right" must be common then. I'm not necessarily questioning my choice as much as i am questioning my ability to actually succeed at this... #imissmyfood

You can never have too many buddies. I started back to work on Monday and getting my to my routine has helped a little. I remember everyone saying the first month is the worst. If i could see the weight dropping daily, maybe it would pacify me but my weight isn't really changing.

Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes... Post Op Day 8 and i don't quite feel like myself. I feel foggy and not in sync with this new change. Taking everything one day at a time...

Just got approval!! Any October sleevers out there?
cindy t replied to sleevemebaby7781's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure it's all for the best. I know the aggravation you must feel. It's quite a song and dance we have to do to get to the actual point of surgery. Hopefully, it will go by quickly for you and your surgery will be here before you know it! -
Pre op diet problems
cindy t replied to Ms Valentina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on day 2 of 10. I can at least half sugar-free Popsicles and jello. You might want to call your surgeon's office and ask if you can add any of these into your diet. They surely don't want you to be too weak going in. -
My surgery date is the 2nd. I'm on day 2 of my liquid diet. I'm holding my own. Missing food pretty much. I'm realizing how often i want to reach for something to eat and have to jump back. Crazy habits. I keep reminding myself how fortunate i am to be able to have the surgery next week. Repeat after me....I am looking very forward to my broth this evening....

The liquid diet i'm on (day 2) calls for 80-100 grams of protein, so they want you to drink 4-5 of the protein shakes...
