    Craving a sandwich/wrap

It turned out delicious, but I was only able to eat about 1/8 cup of it on about 1/6 of a FlatOut before I got full.

    Craving a sandwich/wrap

Stopped by the store and picked up a pack of the FlatOut Light wraps. Am currently in the process of making my family's chicken salad (chicken breast + crushed pineapple + light mayo + chopped pecans) and can't WAIT to have it on the wrap (I loved to eat it that way before surgery). Hopefully the wrap cooperates with my stomach!

    A Good Insurance?

I have Health Alliance through the Illinois Marketplace, and it has been a dream so far. First letter approval and very friendly and helpful when I've called with questions or with the one issue I had (dietitian was supposed to be pre-authorized with the surgery but wasn't, so I got a charge for it even though it should have been free, and they fixed it right away).

    Craving a sandwich/wrap

Never heard of them, but at a quick look they're more expensive than I want to pay for something like that. Thanks for the tip, though!

    Craving a sandwich/wrap

I loved the Flat Out wraps before surgery, so I'll have to try them again and see how my stomach feels about them. My stomach didn't even like toasted 100%WW, so I'm avoiding bread at all for a while, unfortunately.

    February bypass buddies?

I haven't been able to notice a difference in myself with my weight loss, but today Timehop showed me a picture from a year ago today (I was wearing the exact same shirt, ha!) and I can actually see it for once.
  7. I kind of felt the same way when I first joined in January. It helped to start small, by mostly lurking and occasionally commenting on threads directly related to my experience (such as those with similar questions), and I've gradually expanded from there. I'm still not the kind of person who will comment on every post, and I stick to portions of the forum relevant to my experience (for example, I'm a female who had the bypass, so I stay out of the forums for other specific surgeries and the guys' room, among others), but overall I comment a bit more freely now.
  8. Placed my first order from the BariatricPal store today. A box of Kay's Naturals apple cinnamon protein cereal (I bought a single-serve bag of it the other day at Hy-Vee, and it hit the spot for carb cravings), a single-serve bag of the honey almond version to try, and a package of the pork panko to try out. Not too bad for $8 (including shipping) after my discount from rewards points!

  9. This tastes more like coconut than red velvet, which is doubly weird because there are no coconut-related ingredients.

    Pretty yummy, though.

Did you go home with a drain?

Yes, I went home with a drain on my right side. It was taken out at my one-week post-op appointment, and it hurt something fierce, I think because it was pulled right past the muscles that were already the most sore. My mom had said hers felt weird but didn't hurt when she got them out following her double mastectomy, so I wasn't prepared for how much it hurt. (It probably didn't help that my pain meds had worn off because we unexpectedly had to wait a couple hours for my surgeon because she was stuck in surgery.)

    Stealth Easter

I bought six of those pre-op as part of my stocking up for surgery process, because I knew they'd come in handy, and they definitely have! So have the little 2-ounce measuring cups that measure both ounces and tablespoons.
  12. One of the weirdest things about this surgery is that something that agreed with my stomach perfectly well at lunchtime may not go well at suppertime.

    Craving a sandwich/wrap

I've heard of cloud bread before (which this seems to be a variation on), but I'm leery because of them being egg-based, as I don't like the taste of eggs. Are the ones you make eggy-tasting, @FluffyChix?
  14. I finally had some crunchy veggies today (a cauliflower floret, a broccoli floret, a few thin cucumber slices, and some shoestring carrots) with a tiny bit of French onion dip, and it was GLORIOUS.

I did some grocery shopping at HyVee yesterday and hit up their salad bar for fruit and veggies. It was kind of expensive, but worth it to be able to get just a few of each thing (aforementioned veggies, plus some cherry tomatoes, spinach, cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, and pineapple -- already had some watermelon at home), and definitely cheaper than buying a whole package of each and having some of it go to waste because I can't eat it fast enough.

  15. Today was not a good day. We put down one of our cats, Bubby, who we have had since he was five weeks old (I was 15). He would have been 18 years old in just five more weeks.

    Swimsuit Options??

I second the Lands End suggestion. I've never bought them myself, but a friend got a pair of skirted swimsuit-style capri leggings there, like these: https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-swim-crop-leggings/id_269396_57?sku_0=::BLA

    Today’s lunch picture

That was me. And, to follow up, they were good when initially served, but not as leftovers/after being reheated.

    So. Many. Appointments.

Really depends on the program. The first one I was in (for nearly two years) made me see my primary care physician, a nutritionist, a physical therapist, and a nurse practitioner or bariatrician every month, plus a social worker occasionally. (That is PART of the reason I switched programs -- it started to feel like they were just after my money from the co-pays.) The program I'm in now only required one visit each to a nutritionist, physical therapist, psychiatrist, and nurse practitioner (granted, by the time I switched to them, I had already surpassed my insurance's six-month requirement, so I'm not sure if that would have made a difference, but all the program itself required was one visit to each).
  19. I was right, I have a sheet that details costs with and without insurance. This is from last summer/fall, though, so I don't know if it's still perfectly accurate.
  20. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I seem to remember getting a sheet of paper that had the self-pay vs. insurance costs on it. I'll check my surgery info binder when I get home.
  21. Moment of whining: I know this is totally head hunger, but I am missing pasta SO MUCH right now. Especially mac and cheese or chicken fettucine alfredo. Creamy, gooey, deliciousness.

It's worth a shot. And yeah, alfredo + marinara is a great combo. I used to get that at Fazoli's for the build-your-own pasta.

@JanineVSG You inadvertently reminded me that I had leftover spaghetti squash in the freezer, so I cooked some of that up in a skillet, microwaved a leftover baked chicken tender and chopped it up to add into the skillet, and topped it all off with 1/4 cup roasted garlic alfredo sauce and a sprinkle of parmesan. SO GOOD, for 14 grams of protein and roughly 150 calories!

@istytehcrawk That sounds soooo good!! Glad you were able to satiate your craving :)

    February bypass buddies?

Stats first: HW 427.4 (Jan. 2) SW: 413 (Feb. 15) Last week: 378.4 Today: 372.8 So, down 5.6 since last week, 40.2 since surgery, and 54.6 overall. The last week has been semi-hellish, and I finally started feeling better yesterday. Advanced to regular foods on Thursday, dumped twice, and missed work Friday and Monday (and was miserable over the weekend) due to bowel issues -- likely the beginning stages of a bowel obstruction forming. Averted that, thankfully, but it took a lot of Miralax and stool softeners. I haven't really been able to "enjoy" the regular food stage yet because of those issues (I reverted back to a liquid/super soft diet while I was having issues) and I was afraid to eat last night, but I managed to eat a baked chicken tender with cheese without any problems. Then I made some deviled eggs (the only way I like eggs) with low-fat mayo and pickle relish, and my stomach said "absolutely not!" after just one bite, so now my mom has some deviled eggs she can eat. Today, I started mixing Benefiber in with my morning protein shake, and within 15 minutes of drinking it, my body was already reacting, like "Fiber? What's THAT?!?!?" I've been doing pretty well at getting my liquids and protein in, and I'm averaging 350-500 calories a day.
  23. I started taking Benefiber this morning (mixed it in with my Premier Protein shake), and within 15 minutes my body was going "Fiber? What's THAT?!?"

I knew it would work, but I didn't realize it would work THAT quickly.

I finally had to do something with going poop. ( sorry). I stated taknig MIRALAX. I only use 1/2 of the amount it states, because when I took the whole serving it gave me the BACKDOOR TROTS> I also don't take it everyday. I wait until I get the tell tales of needing the help. Also it is tasteless literally!! I have high taste problems along with smelling big time. If I smell it I can't get er down. This stuff isn't even a laxitive, it pulls the fluid from your body with out getting the harsh side effects. I think it is the best stuff going. Check it out.

Yeah, I was prescribed Miralax as-needed when I was discharged after surgery, and I've taken it three or four times since. Works like a charm.

  24. I know what *my* cost was -- I posted about it here: but I'm pretty sure prices are different for those who self-pay.
  25. I ate a baked chicken tender with a tiny bit of cheese on top. We'll see how my stomach likes it.

I also have eggs boiling to make deviled eggs. That's an experiment; haven't tried them since before surgery. (It's the only way I like eggs.)
