  1. Hey I think you might get some useful information on green smoothies from this surgeon called Dr V. on youtube. He actually recommends green smoothies for bariatric patients. He has a few videos about just that, including a video where he makes one to demonstrate what he puts in. Look up Dr. Vuong!
  2. You wrote "obnoxious offensive ass". That didn't sound very respectful or courteous. Think of my comment as enlightenment to the different perspective of someone other than yourself or the echo chamber. I know, I know, due to my different perspective I can look forward to getting addicted to drugs, booze and divorced, what a trifecta of tragedy. As some who have come before me have said, our journeys will not all be the same.
  3. When you just can’t stop dreaming about waffles... or ice cream, or french fries, or pizza, or cheeseburgers... God help us all. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  4. Other people think you are an obnoxious know-it-all with seemingly too much time on their hands. I won’t tell you what camp I’m in, it doesn’t matter really. The information he shared is just as valid as anything you have repeated ad nauseam. Get it, nausea? It’s a bariatric joke, now that’s funny.
  5. Take out a loan? Bada-bing bada-boom. [emoji389][emoji389][emoji389] You should be happy you’re already like half way there even without surgery, that takes some serious work.

Haha, yup! But most likely I will spend it all on them. Not sure what I will eat yet. We have 2.5 months until it ends.

    Humor

Without any prompting from me, my employees started an office/shop wide weight loss challenge one week before my surgery. It has a monetary buy in, winner takes all. They don’t know about my surgery. I told them when I win I am using my winnings to take everyone out to a full fat, full carb lunch, with beer. I feel evil. [emoji48] #sorrynotsorry
  8. You're welcome. My answers to those questions are thus: 1. How long did you go before having your first drink? 8 days. 2. Have you had any MEDICAL complications with your surgery that were attributed to drinking alcohol? None so far, but it hasn't been long for me. 3. Have you gained back significant weight from drinking alcohol? Not applicable to me because I am still in the losing phase. I do feel that I would lose faster if I went absolutely dry but I will not be doing that. 4. Have you developed an alcohol addiction post VSG after having been able to control your drinking before? I am drinking less than I was before surgery. I do not think this will be a problem for me, but again I am not that far out yet. Furthermore regarding food, I am having a similar experience, I am able to eat only about 1-2 oz (by weight) of food at meal times. So, that is hardly anything (like 3-4 bites). So intake for me is typically 2 protein shakes, yogurt and for dinner 1-2 oz of food, and water of course.
  9. Raffi - I feel ya'. You are not alone, my post surgery experience sounds similar. I am (was) a regular drinker before surgery. I think many of the people that will respond negatively to your post probably weren't regulars before surgery. This thread was helpful for me in considering when to indulge: I am working through making changes in my habit, opting for hard liquor with low calorie or no calorie mixers instead of wine/beer and also trying to save drink calories for the weekend when more social activities are happening, instead of having a 2-3 drinks every night as was typical for me before preop diet and surgery. Abstaining has lead to major boredom in the evenings, especially as my energy levels are increasing from losing weight. I have returned to some of my old hobbies to help this, signed up for an art class, taking tennis lessons and rejoining pole fitness classes. I think you are going to find that the replies to your post are going to be majorly one sided and in the negative but I wanted to chime in to let you know you aren't the only one!
  10. I hope you found it already but there is a category in this forum for this procedure.

    Where is my period?

I had the opposite occur. I had finished mine right before surgery then 6 Days post op I got it again! WTF? Anyways my group said Rapid weight loss messes with your hormones and causes it to happen like that sometimes, maybe same explanation holds for not getting it on time as well?

    Back to Work

I had surgery on a Thursday and went back to work the following Monday on post op day 4. Mostly work at my desk but I also walked the warehouse. I was a little sore but no really much problem. I had an easy time compared to others.
  13. Yeah, I asked them. I want to know from people who have actually been through it already though, and possibly maybe people that these activities were things they did normally before surgery.
  14. 10 - I'm 8 days post op, went back to work on day 4 with no problem, didn't need pain meds or nausea meds at home. Drinking has been no problem, gets better every day.
  15. I am 7 days post op today and Dr. Teixiera did my sleeve. I think we were in the hospital the same day ufloop. Dr. T is great! I have had no complications, went back to work Monday, feeling good, staples come out today!
  16. Or-land-do! I can't help but sing it in my head like they do in Book of Mormon. Anybody recently post op from Orlando?
  17. Yes, getting in the Fluid is very difficult, this morning still causing waves of slight nausea each sip. I am right now just trying to get in the meds that I need, blood thinner and miralax both dissolved in Water, then need to take Pepcid and will have to wash it down because that flavor is nasty in the chewable. Seems so silly to struggle over a glass of water when during prep-op I was chugging up to 100oz a day. Last night pain was manageable, I took the provided pain meds, liquid acetaminophen, but it gave me nightmares I could not escape from so I do not want to take it again.

    Stomach spasms

Yes, I am getting the same. My surgery was at 10am 1/11. Home from the hospital this afternoon but feeling the pain like you describe. I think it is gas bubbles moving around. Happens after I sip water or broth or when I reposition myself in bed.
  19. VSGnewguy we had surgery the same day. I am wondering if you were released today as well? And also if you have gas pain? How much water were you able to drink today?

    Trouble drinking

I am having these same issues with drinking. I am a Day after ya’ll though, 1/11. Home already but only got in 20oz today, I did have IV fluids this morning in the hospital before I was released. Hoping drinking will be easier tomorrow. Please keep posting how it goes for you, it helps to know that others are going through the same so I don’t panic.

    Any January 2018 Sleevers?

Hi Y’all - I am on the 11th too. Would love to keep in touch on what you guys experience and share mine as well. I’m nervous.
  22. Can I take a stool softener or laxative during pre-op diet? What about after surgery? I tried to call surgeons office to ask but didn’t get someone to answer. Help!

    Any January 2018 Sleevers?

Wendy, I am also hoping to be in the office on Monday morning! I mostly sit at my desk but I also have to walk around the warehouse and check on things, and walk up stairs frequently to our mezzanine. I was hoping to go skiing in Colorado at the beginning of March, and scuba dive again as soon as it warms up enough here in Florida (probably around April). Can any veterans chime in on if I might be up for the ski trip that soon (7 weeks)? I have been holding off on buying tickets because I am not sure.

    Any January 2018 Sleevers?

I've been ghosting, this is my first post. I am scheduled for January 11, one week! I am very nervous, especially when I read stories of complications. Pre-op diet going good since the 26th, except for some champagne and bad snacks at a party on NYE... But still already down 11lbs during pre-op. My diet right now is protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and a small protein forward dinner w/ veggies. Been having Oikos triple zero and sugar free jello for snacks when I get home from work as well. I am a bundle of worries and fears, these being the biggest ones: - Complication from surgery - Alcohol and carbonation restriction (I am [hopefully "was"] a daily drinker, diet cokes during the day and wine and beer at night) - Regaining weight after losing a lot (I regained weight after being on Medi Weight Loss and losing 100 lbs 5 years ago) - Returning to work quickly (I run a business and cannot afford not to be back) - The diet ruining my active social life which revolves around friends and going out for drinks/food. - People finding out about my surgery and thinking that is was the "easy way out". I have only told my SO and my BFF. There are other smaller fears but it felt good to write those out!
