For one example... My brother-in-law has been doing the keto diet mostly for over a year (did not have bariatric surgery). He lost 100lbs on it and is keeping it off. Also he used to be on cholesterol lowering drugs but he now has his cholesterol in check and doesn't need them anymore. His BP is also great. I can't figure out why so many people bash this diet. Just because it goes against the thinking that we've all been taught (low fat) for years doesn't mean it's wrong. When he talk to his doctor about it, his doctor told him just keep doing whatever you're doing because it's working great for you. I don't know how us "sleevers" would do on it since we now have a modified stomach, but if in a years time if I don't hit my goal weight with the diet my dietitian recommended, I'm going to try it for sure.

That's very reassuring to know that others are having the same trajectory and that your Dr. said it's normal. Thanks!

Brittany ,. I'm almost identical to you. I had my sleeve on 12/29 and I'm 17# down. However I slowed waaay down early at like 1 week or so. I lost 13 pounds the first week and then only 2lbs each week since. Oh we'll at this point I'll be at my goal wt in 30 weeks so I'll take it!

10 here. I couldn't believe how easy it was and how little pain I had . I wish I had done this years ago -
When did your weightloss slow down?
john60605 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the sleeve done on 12/29. My weight loss in the first week and half was great- 13lbs. Since then for the last week and half it has slowed to an average of about 2 lbs per week. I realize long term this is normal. Question to everyone - how long after surgery was it for you to see the "crazy loss" slow down to your normal weekly loss? I feel like the period should have lasted longer for me. I'm sure it's different for everyone but I was looking for a consensus. -

I second Dr. Mark Pleatman in Bloomfield, Michigan. It was $11,200. I had mine done by him on Dec 29 and I have healed so far ahead of schedule!. He does a lot of procedures per year and the hospital is great. I personally would prefer to be in a US hospital just in case something goes wrong. But yes you can save money by going to Mexico if you need to. -

I just had the surgery last Friday and I'm considering going back to my desk job tomorrow (Thurs) for at least a half day. Not trying to brag, but the facts are I'm feeling great. I just flew half the day today and walked the airport terminal changes and drove around when I got home. I'll be back to work full time next Monday for sure. I had cleared working from home for two weeks but no way I'll need it. Everyone's different and your milage may vary.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Well I'm glad to say that now, day 3, the pain when I drink is almost gone. So I guess it's just a healing thing that I need to let time take care of. Southern Girl- that's an excellent question. My surgeon said that if he found a hernia he would repair it but we didn't talk about that post-op so I'm not sure if he did. I have a follow-up on Wednesday with him and I'll ask that.

Hi, I just had the sleeve done 2 days ago. By all measures I'm doing great. I was up walking the hospital ward 5 hours post operation. I'm able to drink the small amounts I'm supposed to and have no problems keeping them down. I haven't really needed most of the pain meds. In general I'm doing so much better than I thought I would. However, when I drink especially the first couple sips, I get a middle chest pain. It's not really bad, maybe a 4 out of ten. But it's there. My question is do most other people have this a couple days out? I'm trying to figure out if it's normal or not. I see the Dr. In 3 days but I wanted to get an opinion here. Thanks, John
