    Safe to sleep on stomach?

Use pillows or even invest in a body pillow from Wal-Mart or Target. Instead of laying flat draw one leg up and turn as much as you can. And keep telling yourself this will pass, you'll be healed soon. Like my kids Pediatrician told my friend. Few kids start Kindergarten or 1st Grade in diapers or training pants, Junior will get potty-trained. I always thought if she had convinced Junior it was his idea or that there would be a reward in big boy briefs he might have done it sooner. But I wasn't gonna get in the middle of that! Sorrow lasts but a short time but joy comes in the morning. You're approaching the dawn of good health, this is just a bump in the roadway. Keep the faith Hon it's gonna be better day by day. Any February Sleevers?

A lot of people resort to Facebook, wouldn't do me any good cause I'm not FB type. On here my suggestion: put February Success Stories 2018, in the paragraph "Lets stay together and share our experiences" and. put it in the Post Surgery Forum . .. I’m struggling pretty bad

Honey I would bet not. It would be full of sugar and empty calories. If you have a RnY bypass- dollars to donuts you 'll have a dumping spell, with a sleeve- you might merely vomit. And if you manage not to, you're sliding back into the bad habits that made you fat in the first place. If I were there I'd waggle my finger at you, I'm 72, I can get away with it. If Johnnie Cochran could play the race card I'm not above playing the age card. Please take the word of an old fat broad, if you have any just sniff or barely lick the spoon, no big chunks! Venting

Probably to show you have a strong commitment to the program.? Don't necessarily agree with that, if you could do this all on your own you wouldn't be there. Ambien, hmm its potentially addictive or its one your stomach couldn't handle after stomach surgery? Otherwise doesn't make too much sense Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Newbie here I just have a few questions.

The way I would handle it, some of which I did, some I should have. PCP first, say to him/her "Do you think I would be a good candidate for Bariatric Surgery? If not how can I get healthier so I would be a good candidate?" If PCP agrees ask if they would be willing to write a letter of referall or do they know of nearby bariatric programs. Ask for a Center of Excellence accreditated hospital or center, they are the creme de la creme of facilities, they can handle all facets of your care and much less likely to have anything go wrong. Study up on the procedure you want, I'll be having a RnY bypass but many people have as good a luck with the Gastric Sleeve, few places do Lap Band, even fewer in the US do,Mini bypass or SIPS but if you're interested just say on here, there are veterans who'll tell you where it's done, one that comes to my mind is Duke University but I'm sure there are more. To meet criteria: BMI above 40, your PCP probably can help you calculate yours if you don't know already. Some programs won't take you If you are below 18 or above 60 years of age. I'm lucky that they don't feel that way in Central Ohio, I am very healthy except for my weight, PCP told me I had a 45year old body trapped in this 72 year old shell. If you have BMI of 35-40 you have to have a condition aggravated by obesity, medicalese name for that is comorbility. sleep Apnea, Diabetes, GERD which is gastroesophageal reflux disease, commonly severe heartburn, lung issues, severe arthritis, those the ones I can remember if the top of my head. If you're under 34.9 most US surgeon's will tell you that you can diet it away. Truthfully I think it's more that insurance won't pick up the cost. You'll probably, pay out of your pocket and may even have to go to Mexico. I wouldn't do it, an old saying from my youth: Everyone to their taste said the old lady as she kissed the cow. Have a list of questions ready for the surgeon. You'll probably want to know how long you'll be hospitalized, whether a liquid prediet is necessary? Varies from just the day before to several weeks. People on here complain about them quite a bit but sometimes they are necessary. Ask what prerequirements the practice and/or your insurance requires. I had originally private which required 6 months of nutritional supervision, one I have now only requested you be above BMI 40, I had no problem with that as I also had 2 comorbities. I've recently switched programs, my previous surgeon required no liquid prediet, just balanced and low carb before. The new one I'm not sure of, if he requires a liquid I'll try to do it with minimal whining. I have waited so long for my surgery I'd probably crawl over broken glass to get it. Hey text back if you have many questions seems like I'm almost always here, if not there will be someone else with an answer. Hopefully you'll have a beautiful day! PS I have heard Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus Ohio does do under 18 year olds with severe obesity, that's something new under the sun. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Can I vent for a minute?

Well husband's can be like that. Had one of them for 44 years.Hmm let's see in his defense: I tell her she looks nice, she'll counter "Don't I Always?" I tell her I like the way she looks slimmer, she'll say "Didn't you love me beforehand?" I say is that new? She'll say" Yes but don't start saying I spent too much money." I say Looks similar to her other clothes She'll say "Now what is wrong with my style? You always liked it before. " I say I'm proud of you losing weight She'll say "You weren't proud of me before? What a crappy thing to say." Guess I'll just sit here in the chair and say "Nice Honey or Mnff "when she asks anything. That way I'm safe! 13. Well, welcome Dylpowers. Always nice to meet a new friend. What type of surgery are you planning, how far into the process are you and where are you located? And what fears can we allay? I'm still pre-surg myself but not by choice. THAT is a whole nother story. At any rate I've been on Bariatric Pal coming up on 3 months so sorta know my way around. Studied up on the types of surgeries, don't know quite as much about mini bypass or ESG as the others but both of them are represented here. I live in Central Ohio, a candidate for RnY just don't have a firm date, maybe March, maybe April if it's later than that, heads may roll.I'm a trifle impatient, remember Mother Nature? I'm 72, knew her well and we might have graduated from High School together. World be warned--i am a force to be contended with! Any hoo if we can make your WLS journey easier, you have only to ask. 14. Put on your chaps and spurs, you're ready to,be in the Bariatrics Rodeo. I'm envious, my date hasn't come yet, you're gonna be all done and be a veteran before I get in the starting gate. Ah but my day will come, I'm holding on to that belief, surely nothing can somebody who wants it as bad as I do. My journey has been convouluted but I'm staying the course. Let me know how things go with you, okay? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

    Revision

Well ,answer the traditional questions. Are you taking in enough fluids? Are you sticking to your diet plan? Remember to avoid slider foods and sneaky carbohydrates. Are you getting enough exercise? If you live like me in the Midwest or Northeast, haven't been outside much to do your walking, haven't been or don't have access to a gym, are you exercising or walking inside? If you've been a good lady and probably you have, remember muscle weighs more than puffy fluffy fat. Involve your family, I made my. slightly plump son get up and exercise to one of my senior citizen tapes, groaned a little but did it. I have a BMI of 47, still presurg, I'm going to a Seminar at OSU in 2 weeks, he wanted to go too. They asked if he would be a candidate also? Yeah his BMI is 37, has a 18 inch collar(which is an indicator of apnea) snores like a flippin grizzly bear, I have a diagnosis of sleep apnea as did his grandfather, my late daddy. Hasn't been formally diagnosed but if he gets one WLS could be in his future as well. I have done prerequirements already but I'm switching programs so even if they accept all of my paperwork I have to attend this presentation. Don't know why my stuff wouldn't be accepted, I did even more than was previously needed. Ah we shall see on the flip side what happens. Don't give up, your body might be regrouping and then you'll drop some more. There is still hope!! Also you were a renovation, not a virgin surgery person, it's well-known they lose at a slower rate but they do still lose. Buck up Buckaroo, it's gonna be alright. I'm too sexy for my base, too sexy yeahh

Oh girls I think this maybe means we're all sisters after all. I have a scar on the back of one calf from. trying to shave my legs, it was one of those old fashioned Gillette ones, nobody had told me you had to screw the handle down to keep the blade stable and in place. Sad thing ,at that time I didn't have enough leg hair to even justify using it. Love hearing of these "oops" stories. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

    New Premier Protein flavor!!!!

A lot of times Wal-Mart will carry the 4-packs, look for them near the Pharmacy department. Also I was told Kroger and some Rite Aid carry individual bottles. Wish Dollar General carried such items ,my,little town has no,less than 3 of them. More than 1 Goodwill but no Family Dollar. Sometimes it resembles the Simon and Garfunkle song" nothing but the dead and dying in my little town". Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
