How long did your incision glue last?
Gundy replied to baribetty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Acuttita, I wonder if a stomach binder might help you get comfortable. I know others have said that it helped them with stomach pain from the incisions. The incision that hurts is the larger incision where the excess stomach is removed. They place a very deep stitch in that area. I hope you feel better soon! -
Just received the bill for my sleeve surgery on 5/2. My mouth dropped open when I determined the total...$25,000. For some reason, I had assumed surgery was $10,000. Imagine my surprise. HW: 225 SW: 214 (5/2/2018) CW: 208 GW: 145

My surgeon said it was fine, and if I wanted one after the surgery to just ask the staff for a binder before leaving the hospital. HW: 225 SW: 214 (5/2/2018) CW: 208 GW: 145

Self-Pay with a starting BMI of 35
Gundy replied to Looking2Lose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Looking2Lose, I started with a BMI of 35.5. My comorbidities would be high cholesterol and high blood pressure. The funny thing is my cholesterol is easily controlled with a low dose statin, and my blood pressure isn’t really high enough to treat with a small dose of lisinopril. I tried 5mg of lisinopril initially, but my blood pressure became too low. On my chart, the surgeon added glucose sensitivity, but the only time my glucose was a problem was during pregnancy when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes (30 years ago). I’ve never been diagnosed with pre-diabetes. It felt great to receive the insurance approval. It felt even better once the hospital bill arrived ($25,000). -
Please understand that I’m not trying to dispute your statements. I would like to say that all of the vitamins and minerals used in the PatchMD are clearly being obsorbed given the blood tests that follow.

So sorry you had to go through this! After surgery, I was instructed to take a stool softener twice a day, and if that didn’t do the trick, add Milk of Magnesium. Magnesium capsules also work well for me, but the pills are too large to swallow at this point. HW: 225 SW: 214 (5/2/2018) CW: 208 GW: 145

Hi Erin, My Bariatric Center of Excellence tests the levels of the vitamins and minerals in the patient’s blood levels. They don’t have any issues with the PatchMD Multivitamin Plus. HW: 225 SW: 214 (5/2/2018) CW: 208 GW: 145

Hi Everyone, Rather than rely on what some website states, the proof is actually in blood tests checking on the levels of the vitamins and minerals. The Bariatric Center of Excellence where I had surgery uses blood tests to check the levels of patient’s vitamins and minerals and say they are a safe alternative. Each Center, Surgeon, NUT, etc. has different views on this. I’ll go with solid lab results that show which product works or doesn’t work. HW: 225 SW: 214 (5/2/2018) CW: 208 GW: 145

Whoa! If you have a pre-op EKG that looked fine, there is no reason that you’d have a heart attack. HW: 225 SW: 214 (5/2/2018) CW: 208 GW: 145 -
Multivitamin/Calcium/iron patches
Gundy replied to stargirl19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Stargirl, My NUT told me that they recommend PatchMD Multivitamin Plus. They are so much easier than swallowing all the calcium, multivitamins, B12, Vitamin D, etc. HW: 225 SW: 214 (5/2/2018) CW: 208 GW: 145 -

The purpose of the pre-op diet is ketosis which shrinks the liver. The liquid diet was tough for me since I don’t enjoy the protein drinks. I did, however, stick with a high protein and no carb diet during the pre-op and lost weight, and the surgeon said my liver looked great. HW: 225 SW: 214 (5/2/2018) CW: 208 GW: 145

Greetings, Guess I’m looking for encouragement. I’m constantly feeling nauseous. Take 4 mg of ondansatron every 6 hours and omeprozol daily. Getting enough fluids, but can’t do the Protein. Doing lots of walking, too. Any ideas? When will the nausea get better? Thanks!
