Favorite Healthy Foods after Surgery
Gundy replied to Gundy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
New favorite recipe... KETO SOUP Brown 1lb of hamburger with one diced green pepper and one diced onion. Drain fat. Add one can of Rotel, 1 box of beef broth, and 8 ounces of cream cheese. Heat until cream cheese melts. If you want to make this higher protein, just use 1 and 1/2 lbs of hamburger and add unflavored protein. Also, if the soup is too rich, just use low fat cream cheese rather than full fat cream cheese. I enjoyed less than half a cup for lunch and feel satisfied with no tummy upset! -
Greetings! Looking for ideas for healthy, tasty food choices. A few of my faves at week 6 post op: Chili Riced Cauliflower Tuna Greek Yogurt Soups with added protein powder Morningstar Grillers and Morningstar Breakfast Sausage (both veggie and high in protein) Any recommendations or suggestions are appreciated!

Feeling Awkward & Embarrassed About Visible Weight Loss
Gundy replied to bluehat's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is a hard one for me to understand! I wish people would notice that I’ve lost weight. I feel so much better about myself, but wondering if any improvements are even noticeable. On the other hand, it is hard to care since I truly feel so much better! I refused to tell anyone about my surgery except my husband and mother prior to surgery and one couple after surgery who were restaurant and eating buddies since we didn’t want them to feel like they were being ignored. I asked that they honor my need for privacy which they have. When people notice or comment about eating less, I tell them that I was told I was pre-diabetic and decided to change my life. It is the truth. It is honestly none of their business what tools or strategies are used. My advice is to error on the side of caution when telling others about your surgery. One day, I may be willing to be more open if my story can help another person who suffers with weight, but for now, it is my own journey. -
Greetings! This is probably a very silly question, but would it be appropriate to practice a Keto diet once past the 2 or 3 month post surgery? My nut and advice from the surgery center recommend limiting carbs, and of course, getting at least 60 grams of protein each day. If that is the case, wouldn’t the Keto diet be the natural path forward? Any thoughts, opinions, research, etc. are appreciated!

MissLindseyR...agreed on avoid high fats since they can upset the tummy.

Nnoi! Please don’t empower this obnoxious woman. She is trying to intimidate and manipulate you. Your health is far more important than whatever games she is playing with her vacations. Once you get your approval, schedule your surgery as soon as possible. Your only mistake was trusting this woman with any information. Once someone reveals who they are, trust them!

Hair falling out at 4 1/2 months post-op
Gundy replied to LoriWhip's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My nut told me that the typical hair loss happens from 3-6 months. -
One week post surgery everything makes me feel sick!
Gundy replied to Angi B's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Again! I had surgery on May 2, and just ate a small, but wonderful steak yesterday. Please note that it was very well chewed and eaten slowly! It won’t be long! Hang in there! -
One week post surgery everything makes me feel sick!
Gundy replied to Angi B's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Angi. Were you given any anti-gas or any meds like Omeprazole for stomach acid? Those might help. -
From the advice on the forum, I asked for one in the hospital. I wore it for two days. Since my pain was minimal, I didn’t feel like it helped. Others, with more pain, view them as a lifesaver.
-
Pain meds through IV while in recovery. When back to the room, it was pain pills, no pump. After one night in the hospital, home the next day and no longer taking pain meds. The pain was only bad for me while in recovery. After that, it was mild.

RickM...how does the edamame pasta taste? Curious before I buy some. -
No worries, Mikealkay! Honestly, I only read the first few sentences. You were very clear in what you were trying to say...I wasn’t listening! Hahaha

6 Month post today, June 11, 2018 Stats & Pics
Gundy replied to Toomanytacos's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow! You are an inspiration! -
You are losing almost a pound a day. This qualifies as the weight falling off you!
-
Dear Brass! Please stop this. You are only 10 days post surgery, and your body has been through a great deal. We all lose at different rates. I’m forty days post surgery and only down 15 lbs so your post should make me feel awful, but it doesn’t! I’m the turtle, not the hare in this story.
-
What a demeaning asshat! My unsolicited advice is to have the surgery and lose a great deal of weight and this man.
-
Surgery 5/2. Slow but sure wins the race. Under 200 lbs for the first time in a long time!

Husband does not support my dream to have this surgery
Gundy replied to Bobbie2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There are husbands or significant others who don’t initially support the surgery because they are worried about their spouse having major surgery and love them no matter what size. He doesn’t seem to be one of those husbands. -
Husband does not support my dream to have this surgery
Gundy replied to Bobbie2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
His statement speaks volumes of his insecurity, not anything about you or your ability to succeed. This is also a statement that reveals a person who does not have your back. You may lose a full grown male and a great deal of weight once you succeed with this surgery! The funny thing about his statement is that many of us have failed so many time with diets, food plans, etc. that the only tool available for a healthy self is weight loss surgery. -
Honestly, Lex, there is only one thing wrong with you...very low self esteem that leads you to pick real asshats. I could never in a million years be emotionally invested with a man who even came close to calling me anything close to repulsive or a man who said I looked like a hooker. Until you get some counseling to feel better about yourself, you will attract men like these. You deserve so much more.

How do you, personally, define a carb?
Gundy replied to Little Green's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Rather than decide which foods to eat or not to eat, I try to maintain a goal carb count for the day, usually under 20 or 30 for this stage. -
Do tired of vomiting
Gundy replied to moondoggie1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Moondoggie! My heart goes out to you! Are you prescribed Omeprozal DR or anti-nausea medication? My surgeon has his patients take the Omeprozal twice a day and the nausea medication as needed.
