Hello everyone :tt2: just want to give everyone a update Well it's been almost a year and no sugery :tongue2: I was supposed to have my surgery the 20th of this month but my blood sugar shot up to 1200 and the doctors said no sugery untill I get it under control I have been doing everything I can to get it down. the doctors in the ER said I should be dead or having a stroke cause my blood sugar shot up so hi but I am fine now so hopefully I will have my surgery in january somtime as long as my sugar level stayes under control I am now on both the pill and the shot My family doctor said once I have the surgery and loose the weight I can possibly come off the shot and the pill and keep it under control I can say this I have been on my own diet and lost 32 pounds all I have been doing is drinking water and eating normal but watching how much I eat it's hard cause I love food but I know if I don't do it I will end up in a grave some were but everyone pleasee pray for me and keep me in your thoughts and prayers cause lord knows I need them I will keep everyone posted on my next surgery date and my progress good luck everyone and god bless !!

Hey everyone longtime no chat lol !!! The reason I have not been on for a while is because my Doctor told me I needed the gastrix bypass insted of the lapband :smile: cause my liver function level was hi and he felt that bypass would be best for me cause the weight would come down quicker and my liver function level would drop back to normal. Plus I looked for a gastix bypass forum and didn't find one worth a dang. So I decided to go with the doctors reconmendation and get the gastrix bypass. How ever those who remember me knows how long it's been since I was supposed to get banded now I finially got my surgery date :thumbup: Nov. 20th surgery is at 9:30 :cool2: Pre opt. Nov. 7th 3:00pm:thumbup: Nov. 5th I got to start atkinson diet :w00t: well guys I hope you all don't mind if I keep you guy's as a support group how ever I do got some questions about the after math of the surgery far as what in the world to eat and what not to eat I'm sure it is no different than the bypass I wouldn't think but if anyone knows fill me in on it thanks Jason

Well no one replyed yet I just felt that I may have betrayed everone and that and the different type of surgery prosess I am going through what I was wanting to know was what to eat and drink right after surgery and what type of liquids should I start buying thangs like that

or should I just depart from the lapband community and go with one of the gastrix bypass community and if so does anyone know of a forum were to get good support for the gastrix bypass :smile:

Hey don't give up!!!! The surgery you may have paied a lot for and you think it did no justice but let me also tell ya this the band is a tool to help you loose weight if you are not going to do your part it won't do it's part so stop and take a big breath and say to your self I will loose weight and I will work at it remember it is just a tool to help you loose weight so I am not saing that you are not doing your part please don't think that cause you just very well may be doing your part but depression will bring you down and keep you from loosing the weight ALSO SOME HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY GAIN WEIGHT FROM THE BAND BEFORE THEY START LOOSING THE POUNDS So you may just be upset for nothing you may go weigh in nest week and see that you lost 5 or 6 pounds and the same every week so just relax take it easy and you will soon get there and if you don't soon I would contact your doctor and talk with him or her about it may be that your band sliped but Please don't give up were all pulling for ya :smile:

Well pretty much you will have to do the upper GI , and the blood work and what ever else the insurance requires you to do and the classes for nutrition you may want to ask michele at the clinc and ask her what all your insurance requires to have it done and go from there but i am sure it won't be much :thumbup:

Well I had to get a cardio. clearence and stress test and blood work upper GI and Phyic eval and take 1 class on nutrition and a liver altrasound cause i got eleivated liver function level they said caused by medication . Anyways i think that was it all yea they was going to send me for a sleep test also as well but said I didn't need one what takes so long is all the test results to get back to them but other than that thats about it for me :thumbup: some people it is different do to insurance it depends on what they require

hey I got the same doctors , i live here in lugoff and I got to tell you this they are real good doctors ,and office staff but the 250 deal i did not understand cause after i paied it i found another doctors office in columbia that was less but did not not take one of my other insurances only took one but it was cheaper so i said what the heck i already paied the two fifty but other than that they are great and i have not had my surgery yet hope to have it by next month also by paing the 250 does not mean you will get the surgery done that is what they told me but I hope everything goes well for you and good luck keep me informed with your progress ----jason:thumbup:

Hey friends I got some good and bad news !!! so here goes the good news is they submitted my insurance all came back good. The bad news is the Doctor says I got fatty liver and he feels best to get the weight off fast so he wants me to do the gastric bypass insted of the lapband so I guess i will do that insted of the lapband but he did say if he goes in ther to do it and finds somthing wrong he will continue with the lapband SO everyone please wish me luck Thanks Jason :biggrin::tongue_smilie:

Congratulations!! I myself is done with everything and all i got to do is come up with the extra $250 for my pre opt. surgery , well the 250 is for the program fee i had to pay 250 up front and then 250 again on my pre opt apointment but my wife had our new baby boy and now its real hard for me to come up with the extra cash due to the fact I'm disabled and have a fixed income so I really dont know when I will come up with it I wish they will let me pay payments but i guess Dr. Tribbles office won't allow it I had the money a couple of times but they wouldn't take it , saying that i got to get all my clearances first now I spent the money on baby stuff and it is really hard for me to come up with the money right now so again Congratulations!! Everyone please pray for me and my family and keep me on the prayer list for my finacial needs PS I still can't figure out how to do my ticker thing can some one send me a link again LOL !!!!

Hey everyone i just got back from the phys. doctor today and he told me that i would make a perfect canidate (sorry spelling) for the lapband surgery. now all i got left to do is my nutrition class. only one class and then get my uper gi done and i thank a stress test done and then im off to my journey. so if any one gots any comments let em rip lol!!! im so excited :biggrin2: im tring to get pics of me put on here so i can have a before and after. also does any one know how i can post one of those things were it says your starting weight and then your gole weight ???? well thanks everyone for the help and support :tt1:

:scared2: WELL after worring about my heart due to the doctor telling me I had some sort of adnormality he told me every thing was fine and I should be good to go. So now all I am waiting on my lab results which already came back but waiting for them to tell me they were ok once this all comes back then everything is done for me except the surgery and of course talking with the doctor :thumbup: So could some one send me a link to one of those tickers I know some one sent me one once before but couldnt get it to work Lol !!!

Well everyone I got good and bad news the good news is I completed everything except my heart clearence I went to South Carolina heart center and seen Dr. Grainger he did a EKG and he told me I had some adnormality on the test and wants me to have a stress test done before I get a clearence. :scared2: So everyone please pray for me !!!!! LORD GOD I hope nothing is wrong. I go tomorrow to get my stress test done and I will keep every one posted on the results. And if everything is good I will go to the next step and consult with the Dr. and then get my surgery date :thumbup:

hello every one for starters let me introduce myself my name is jason im married have four beautiful kids and one step son i weigh 316 lbs and i am now getting ready to have the lap band done first i got to go talk to a phys doc to see if im able to have the surgery this is part of the process that my doctor requires then i get another apointment to go see the doctor before my surgery i dont have a prefered doctor but the center were im enroled with is palmetto health baptist weight management center and i forgot my doctors names there is two of them but like i said dont care who does it i trust them both i am really excited to have this done but a fear arised one of my wife sisters friend recently passed away after having the band surgery i dont know all the facts about it dont even know if it was related to the surgery but im getting scared my doctor said at the meeting that 1 out of 700 surgerys that he did was a death but my fear is the same i know there is a risk involved but can some one tell me what to expect and how was your fear before and after the surgery and what you did to over come it

Hey I got my phys. stuff done and approved and I went to go get my lab work today and my upper GI done (YUCK !! ) that stuff was nasty but anyways I still don't have a surgery date yet I got one more thing to do and thats the stress test heart thing stuff they want me to do. Any ways I'm so excited I know you gave it to me once but can you let me know how I can get that ticker thing again and how to put my dates on there so I can keep up with it and everyone can see my progress and how long it took me to do it. :cursing: Ok I needed to give everyone a up date on me cause I haven't been on for a while . After I went to see the phys. doctor they called me back and told me I needed to go to the local mental health to get a clearence letter from one of there doctors. And I went (why they wanted this I dont know) but any ways I went and they gave them the clearence letter. I got to go tomorrow and take my nutrition class then after that I got to go do a upper GI and some lab work and a cardio test then talk to the doctor and than off to the road to a new life. So things are starting to roll in the right direction for me now :redface:

Wasnt it kind of sad? That man has been through a lot !!! My Thoughts and Prayers go out to him and his family. I'M so proud of him though

Yea i know. Well like i was saying earlier its not a big deal but just thought it didnt make since but i guess there is a reason for everything lol!!!!

well i went to one phyche doctor and that was the one at the weight management center he told me i was a good canidate for the surgery he thought and after that visit the called me and told me to go to the mental health center in my local area and get a phyche to evaluate me and get them to give the doctor office (weight management center) a clearence to go through the surgery. its no big deal but i thought it was worthless to pay them $200 to see weight management center's phyche doctor and they tell me thats its ok to have the surgery and then two weeks later they call and tell me to go to my local phyche doctor to get a clearence every one that i know here in my home town told me they only had to see the phyche doctor once but like i said earlyer its no big deal my insurance will cover it but i thank its a crock i had to pay $200 out of my own pcckett when i could of went to a phyche doctor in my home town in the first place and saved me the $200 and let my insurance cover it

call 1800 lapband and they will give you a list of all doctors in your area the packett will take a couple of weeks to get to you in the mail

No i didnt get banded yet im still waiting on the phys doctor.to give the paper work back to the nurses he done told me i was a good canidate for it. well as to your question about a seminar yea i went to one but they didnt charge me it was free after listening to the seminar they told us that the doctors office will charge us 500 dollars to have it done 250 for the first visit and 250 on our pre opp visit maybe thats what there talking about for you. have you gotten that packett yet from lapband ??? CAUSE ONCE YOU GET IT YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED WHEN YOU GET IT YOU CAN CALL AROUND AND SEE WHAT OTHER WILL SAY WELL LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU GET IT

ok well look there is always plain b and thats wait untill you get that packett in the mail ok then go to another doctor and tell them you have been dieting for 6 or 7 months or you can call and tell your insurance that you want to switch to regular medicare i had that advantage plan my wife said and now i remember since she told me and it sucks i went back to regular medicare they say its the same but its not so if i was you i would wait untill you get that packett and call the doctors thats on that packett and tell them a diferent story tell them that you have dieted for 6 or 7 months or so or you can call medicare and switch back to regular medicare i know its lieing but sometimes you got to, to get your insurance to do anything well keep me posted on everything we all love ya and good bless ya if you want to talk to me by phone you can privite message me and i will give you my phone number or i can call you i hope and pray everything works out for ya
