Hi - i am 7 months post bypass. I’ve lost 82 lbs- which is great. I have struggled- ulcers-gall bladder removal and my blood sugars are still high(type 2 diabetic for 22 years) I still have a lot of diarrhea(tmi) and occasional vomiting. But my biggest struggle is feeling light headed and dizzy all the time. Anyone else??? I haven’t been able to exercise much at all as I get too dizzy. Anyone else???

Where are all the 50 something bypass patients?

Thinking and praying for huge success and easy recovery!! -
I know you need to stay away from NSAIDS- but I have not taken any and still developed an ulcer. Not sure if the reason why?

Mine took about 6 months as well. I had to wait for the endoscopy as the Dr was very booked up. I had to go to a psychologist, nutrition classes once a month for 4 months and the endoscopy and cardiac clearance. It went by pretty quickly! Good luck!

I’m 51. Had my bypass on 12/11. I’ve lost 52 pounds! My main goal was to lower my blood sugar as it was very out of control. However- it is still pretty high. How long did it take any of you for your blood sugars to go down? I do worry about the “sag” as I know my skin is not young. But if I look old and am healthy I’m ok with that! -
Anyone in the 9-12 week range?

My bypass was 12/11. I developed an ulcer so I have a very hard time eating any food. I’ve had to stop all dairy and most fat as well as any citrus or tomatoes. The struggle I have is trying to take my medication and fit in my protein and liquids. Any ideas? I have to take 9 pills in the am and 4 in the pm. I have a very hard time getting them all in! So my food is usually ground turkey/lean beef and some soups. No carbs. -
Wow! I don’t have h pylori as well no NSAIDs no smoking no coffee or caffeine either! I really hope this is not a re curring thing!! I was on protonix after surgery for 30 days and still developed the ulcer. I have another endoscopy on March 19. I’m hoping all healed! Thanks everyone for sharing.

I actually have pills and liquid form. The pills dissolve very easy.

How long did d it take for your ulcer to heal? I have one- and am still throwing up some- I am anxious to be better!

I had my bypass on December 11- kept fluids down fine- but once I started soft foods I almost always vomited my food. Endoscopy revealed an ulcer. I’ve been on carafate and omeprazole 2x a day. I can keep saying me food down- but still vomit every 1-2 days. How did you know your ulcer perforated??? Pain?? My blood work has alarm been so off- my pcp is very worried.

Anyone else have back pain? Almost like kidney stone pain in a way
Beth Ann replied to Keeks17's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had this- was sure it was a kidney stone-nope! Hang in there- it will get better. I can just now sleep on my left side- my pain was left side of my back and I had surgery on 12/11. -
I am 5 weeks post op. Doing great until I added food! At first I vomited only some things. Now almost all things- eggs- re fried beans-yogurt-ground beef- mashed carrots. Surgeon wants to do an endoscopy- has this happened to anyone else? Liquids/protein shakes are fine.

My surgeon is scheduling an endoscopy. What is a stricture?

I had surgery on 12/11- and I am still on all liquid- strained soups/broths - protein shakes and water-crystal light. Ivan have sf popsicles-but I'm always cold so I haven't had any of those. I will go to soft-puréed food after my Dr appointment on January 5. I was told my first real food will be eggs! Hope that helps.

The binder helped me a lot!!! Decreases pain and helped me move easier! Wish I would have had one for my 4 c-sections!

I had bypass on 12/11- had some difficulty afterwards with bladder infection and blood loss- so didn't come home until 12/16. I am still a bit sore- pain on left side upper abdomen is MUCH worse than anywhere else. I believe that is normal - but today I bent over to get my shoes and it literally felt like something flipped over inside me in that same left incision site. Now it is more sore than before. Anyone else this happen to???
