Chicken nuggets/chicken tenders/boneless wings are another good way to get the fried chicken craving out of your system, since you can buy them in really small quantities from a restaurant.

That's nice. I'm not having any trouble with my sagging tits. Or "accidentally" posting in Gals' Room topics.

Totally Failing at this Pre Op Diet
abefroman329 replied to gully90's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m not gonna recommend you do this, but I failed at the pre-op diet HARD. I managed to lose ten pounds but that’s because I ate like a king for the two months prior to that, so my surgeon’s office thought I lost zero pounds. And they were able to do the surgery, and it was a roaring success. So don’t sweat it! -
Me too! Yay! I have a pair of shoes I could never wear because they would pinch my toes when I took a step, now I can wear them just fine. How weird!

Pre-op diet is the worst part! -
To tell coworkers or not?

The eyes! I've had no fewer than two people I've worked with for years give me elevator eyes and my God is it ever creepy. -
Oh, try the PatchMD! I was fed up with all the pills, particularly the three giant calcium citrate pills a day. Now with the patch my only pills are 25 mg of Cozaar, omeprazole, Strattera, fish oil, fiber pills, and Sennokot. And the patches are only $20 for a 30-day supply!

My wife and I split a two-piece meal from Popeyes a few months ago. I ate the chicken and drank the drink, she ate the red beans and rice and the biscuit. Dinner for two, $7!

To tell coworkers or not?
abefroman329 replied to Trash_Panda's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I only tell people who ask. Why lie? One of my team members that I've been working with for four years asked me late last week, and it turns out she had gastric bypass several years ago and lost 125 pounds. I had no idea, I thought she just naturally ate like a bird! We had a nice conversation. -
Surgeon Follow Ups for Life?

I plan to. -
... i am embarrassed to ask

Sennokot, though it might take a few days to take effect. If you need something that will take effect immediately, you need a suppository. -
How long did you wait until you had your first alcoholic beverage???
abefroman329 replied to abarr7302's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Three or four months, probably. I had a vodka and lemonade that was mostly vodka and it went straight to my head. Then we went on our babymoon two weekends ago and I had several alcoholic beverages, and it went fine. Had two beers (a porter) last weekend and that went fine too. -
What are your favorite Purée stage meals?
abefroman329 replied to baribetty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Can’t remember if this was puréed or very soft foods, but a can of baby food meat and some applesauce. -
If I stayed at my current weight for the rest of my life, the surgery would be worth it.

Weirdest coments you've gotten since WLS
abefroman329 replied to TakingABreak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Coroner bellowed HOW MUCH WEIGHT HAVE YOU LOST at me the other day. Good move, doing that in front of the head of HR. -
Yes, that's the information that's available on the website, and that's the fine point I didn't feel like arguing with the surgeon's office.

I was advised by my surgical team not to use the patches since they contain calcium carbonate and I need calcium citrate (the FAQs explain why they contain calcium carbonate, but I wasn’t going to press that issue). Since the real issue with the calcium citrate chewables and the Flintstones vitamins and the sublingual B12 tablet is the space they occupy in pill organizers and the fact that I’d need a giant pill organizer to hold all that, plus the fish oil capsule, plus the vitamin D pill, plus the one BP Med I’m still on, plus the Strattera pill, plus the 12 fiber capsules and 8 Sennokot pills I need to take to stay regular, I’m going to try the patches when I travel this weekend to see how I like them. We’ll see how that goes. If I go on them full time, I’ll tell the practice what I did and that I’ll go back to the pills if the patches aren’t doing the trick.

Sleeve surgery and acid reflux, got worse or better?
abefroman329 replied to Jenlo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No, I've never heard of it. I don't think there's a blanket ban on the sleeve if you have GERD, and omeprazole is safe if you've had the sleeve (they gave it to me the morning after my surgery, when I was still in the hospital). I highly recommend the sleeve over bypass and I'd find another surgeon if he won't let you have the sleeve. -
Sleeve surgery and acid reflux, got worse or better?
abefroman329 replied to Jenlo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine has gotten better, but it's still there. I'm able to take generic omeprazole (before surgery, literally all that would work was Prilosec. Not generic Prilosec, not Nexium, nothing else) and it's more mild discomfort when I don't take it as opposed to sheer hell. Currently I'm about 40-50 pounds below where I was when I was first diagnosed with GERD. -
Can someone recommend one for calcium citrate? The Flintstones chewables and the sublingual B12 are fine, but the calcium citrate chewables are a giant pain in the ass. I'm sick of the taste and it's impossible to use my pill organizer with those taking up so much space.

I told my boss I was having surgery because she needed to know why the dates when I expected to be able to work from home and when I expected to be able to return to the office were estimates, but I didn't tell her what kind of surgery it was.
-
And FWIW, I don't see anything resembling a pregnancy belly bump!
-
I didn't lose hair. It grows at a much shorter rate, and I think it's thinner than it used to be, but I didn't lose any. Actually, I did "lose" a massive square of belly hair that they shaved off for the surgery (which I didn't learn until afterwards).

Congrats!
