Thanks! The last one got cut in half because I was so dizzy last night, I collapsed. That's not good.

The Fat Prom...ok, they don't really call it that
abefroman329 replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not sure if mine does that, probably not since it's technically open to anyone. The Fat Prom, lol. -
Hospital time sweetheart!

I had gray socks the entire time. -
Hospital time sweetheart!

Good luck! Personally I would call the nurse if you want to go for a walk or go to the bathroom, I wouldn't take it upon myself to unhook everything. -
I had my 2-week follow up on Friday. No barium swallow, but I don't think they had reason to think that was an issue. Doc ripped off the remaining steri-strips (of 5 they initially put on, 3 hadn't fallen off yet) and said the incisions looked good and that I should come back in a month.

It's official, all of my prescriptions that are due to weight-related health issues have been cut in half or eliminated.

To tell or not to tell your work about WLS

I told a few people I was having surgery, but didn't go into specifics. If anyone asks how I lost weight, I plan to tell them. No sense in lying about it. -

OMG me too! I've been wanting to make a beer can chicken since I was on the pre-surgery diet! Hopefully I can in a little less than a month...hopefully... -
If you're like me, and you could suck down water no problem using a water bottle with a straw, but you're not allowed those post-surgery, and you find it really hard to drink water in sufficient quantities from a wide-mouth bottle, I highly recommend the below: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EPGMN1E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The water just flows into you and keeps you hydrated.

I had a square of plain cheese thin crust from Domino’s last week and tolerated it well. Then tonight I had a bite of my wife’s red beans and rice from Yat’s. Fortunately I can still tolerate spicy foods.

Oh, it was yummy. Very, very yummy. And much less than the super-sizes Blizzard with whipped cream I would have gotten once upon a time.

Today I learned that the cargo pants that barely fit on me in September are too big on me. The downside is, they’re out of stock in the next size down.
-
Yesterday I had a value-sized cup of soft serve from Sonic. I ate it all using the tiniest of bites and tolerated it well. And then this morning I learned I’d lost almost two pounds since yesterday. So suck it.

How many days until that stall people keep talking about
abefroman329 replied to Toomanytacos's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’ve had a few “stalls” where I only lost 0.2 pounds in a day. I thought my weight loss had slowed to the point where I was only losing half a pound a day, but then today I was down almost 2 pounds since yesterday. -

Room temperature water goes down easiest. The Orange Crush flavor packets help sometimes; sometimes I just want plain water. -

I never had burning pain, but it was painful every time I moved from whatever position I was in and then the pain would go away. I think burning pain was one of the conditions where I was supposed to call my surgeon’s office. -
Thanks, all!

What is missing please...
abefroman329 replied to Gretchel Z's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A nightgown or something similar to walk around the hospital in if you don’t want to show your bare ass to the world. (I brought a nightshirt). You won’t be able to wear a shirt and pants because of the IV and the heart monitor. Books if you’re up to reading. My stay was so short, I didn’t even need to charge my phone. -
Back down to 44 waist pants from a 46, back down to XXL shirts from XXXL.

Buddies Group - Surgery Dec 4 to 15, 2017
abefroman329 replied to Mary Stokley Gromer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This morning I went to breakfast with my wife and had 1 scrambled egg and tolerated that well. I tried a few small bites of wheat toast with butter, but stopped when my stomach started to get angry with me. Also did fine with 1/2 a cup of black coffee. All of that was about 3 hours ago and I’m not hungry yet. -
It was probably the sugar content of the oats. Less than a week after surgery, I cooked 1/4 c of regular oatmeal in 1c milk and it went down fine. Then I tried regular brown sugar instant oatmeal with twice the milk and it was hell on earth. I tried sugar-free brown sugar instant oatmeal, again with twice as much milk, but it was still hard to eat. I think the key is plain oatmeal, cooked on the stove.

What were your sleep apnea results?
abefroman329 replied to chamomilelavender's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was diagnosed with (severe) sleep apnea in 2011, so I didn’t need to have the test prior to surgery, they already knew the answer to that question. Back then the only option for a sleep study was to go to a facility, no at-home studies. I don’t remember how many arousals I had. A lot. I think 5 is the average number of arousals per hour.
