  1. Laundry, cleaning the bath tub, anything with a lot of bending, stretching, reaching, or heavy lifting is out for at least a week or two. If you go through with it, might help to have a friend come by every day or every other day to help you with some odds and ends. Spread the duties out, ask a few different people; that way everyone is only coming by once a week. Do you have a good relationship with your neighbors or landlord? Might be a good idea to have someone nearby for emergencies that you know, and who knows you. And you will definitely need someone to drive you home. My ride home was bumpy and uncomfortable. I would not have been able to drive. You may have no pain at all, but better to be safe than sorry.

    Persuading my Psychiatrist

Mine did. But my therapist was very supportive. She's more of a life coach at this point in my life, and she thought surgery was a great idea. A lot of what we spoke about were the goals I wanted to reach, and how my weight was prohibiting them. She also knows the stuggles that I faced trying to lose the weight after the birth of my child. I would dedicate myself to diet after diet, hours in the gym, with little to no results. Does your psychologist know THE WHY behind the surgery for you? Does she know other things you've tried, the struggles you have had, etc. You maybe should ask her what she knows about bariatric surgery. And if she has an unfavorable opinion, might be a good idea to remind her that projecting her assumptions on you are kind of against the rules of her job. Maybe bring some research with you? Good luck!
  3. I work in a large office which is usually bustling with people on the phone and in meetings, and chit chat... today's its so quiet you can hear a pin drop. Except you can't hear a pin drop-- all you can hear is my stomach making crazy noises while I'm eating lunch LOL.... I have never been so self-conscious about my stomach digesting food before. I swear the guy next to me keeps giving me the side eye.... I'm so embarrassed-- but not enough to forget my lunch. It's too good. Sorry buddy! Just another day in this WLS adventure hahaha!!

    Hungry

Same with me@lelh If you decide to take the plunge, OP, go sloooowwwww, take tiny bites, and test the waters. No diving in. I would start with soup. If you have an immersion blender, you can blend soups like French onion, creamy potato or tomato. Then just strain out any lumpy pieces. Your blender is gonna be your bff for a while LOL!!

6 Tips to Prevent Hair Loss After Bariatric Surgery

I forgot to mention, a good wet/dry brush can help mitigate loss. They are more gentle on hair than a regular brush. I've always used one.

    January bypass buddies??

    @mstipps omg!!!! You poor thing!!
  8. I'm 7 weeks in, and I eat about 1000 calories a day, at 4 meals a day, maybe 5 depending on the day. I track my protein, carbs, fat and calories. I measure everything and average about 1/2-1 cup of food per meal. I feel great!

    January bypass buddies??

Haha @mstipps this most definitely happened to me about 2 weeks after surgery. My 2 year old climbed on top of me while I was lying down and kneed me in the gut, in my incisions. It happened so fast!! I called my doctor and the on-call PA said not to worry as long as my incisions looked okay. There's a lot of protection between that tiny knee and my stomach, and he's 25 lbs, so it's not enough force to do anything. For your 4 year old you can probably explain, mommy is ouchie here! Be gentle...

    1.5 years out

As much as@johnnycakes overall tone might be a little much, dudes got a point. I have an anecdote that supports the theory he provided. I did the TRUE keto diet before I considered surgery. It was one of the many diets I tried. And I did lose weight... at first. And I did have to eat, what felt to me, like WAY too much fat (heavy cream, coffee with coconut oil and butter, "fat bombs" made from butter, a ridiculous amount of cheese, etc.) in order to meet the daily goals of a true keto diet. Eventually tho, I stopped losing weight, even tho my keto sticks showed I was in ketosis. I measured everything and drank plenty of water. This was not due to human error. I have lost this weight before, on weight watchers and through other programs that incorporate healthy carbohydrates, and even an occasional sweet. I feel like I had the best results eating variety in my diet, and just being sensible with my portions. It's also important for me to track my food. I plan on having slow, steady weight loss with this method. I don't freak out when I hit a stall- they are a part of the process. I'm 7 weeks in and funny enough, when I started eating fruit again, my stall broke. Probably coincidence, but whatever. To each his/her own-- do what works for you! I truly believe everyone's body is different and reacts differently to different things. But I agree that those who are suggesting keto might not be doing a TRUE keto diet, which I hated 100% personally. Sounds more like high protein, low carb, low(ish) fat, which is what my NUT suggests for her clients.

    Getting so discouraged!

That's exactly what happened to me. It's a stall, it's normal. You will lose again.
  12. Cold water makes me sick. I want to vomit it back up once it goes down. It's the only thing I've had a real issue with so far.
  13. I'm usually not a big fan of frozen, processed food, but when the family is ordering take out or pizza, or if you're in a pinch for lunch, it's nice to have a quick easy option. I recently found Healthy Choice Simply Steamers without rice or pasta, and they had way less carbs and reasonable amounts of sodium compared to other packaged foods. These also taste really good. High protein, low carb, packed with protein and veggies. And I can only eat half (sometimes less) per sitting so they are good for two meals!
  14. @mstipps I spent my afternoon checking out some of these-- it's cool bc I wasn't really aware of most of these lesser know U.K. Bands. Anti Clone was pretty cool. Skindred and Sodom are the only ones I really knew. I'm into Soil, Coal Chamber, Rammstein, I miss Mudvayne but love Hellyeah, Slipknot, Machine Head, Lamb of God, System of a Down, etc. so I guess more mainstream stuff-- but I love a good metal festival with unknowns. Just fun to go and feel the energy and meet new people. Have an awesome time!!!! [emoji3]

    Screw you scale!!

If that's the case I would just keep on eating the way you have been. Your body might need a little more carbs and calories to get through. We are all different. I'm still figuring out what works for me. I'm at 1000 cals, 50 +/- carbs, 75-85 protein, and haven't lost a thing in over two weeks (almost three!). I've tried less calories, more calories, less carbs, more carbs, less exercise, more exercise... what the actual blank is going on?! lol I finally stopped weighing myself.
