    I WANT FOOD!!!

Try very fluffy scrambled eggs (1 egg, 1 tbsp milk). Or tuna with mayo in a food processor. Those things gave me the "chew" fix I needed when I was in your shoes. We have all been where you are. If it helps, you're not alone!!!

    Cold food

I was literally just complaining to my husband that I miss hot food LOL I feel your pain!!!
  3. It's up to you. I had the surgery because of my family history. I am perfectly healthy now, but being proactive is better than being reactive once something wrong happens. Plus the younger you are, I imagine, the easier it will be to bounce back after surgery. I'm in my 30s, good health, and bounced back quickly (I know it's not like that for everyone). BTW- This is *not* easy by any means. It's a hard decision, pre-op is hard, post-op is hard, changing habits is hard. But being obese is hard too, so choose your hard! good luck!
  4. I love dill pickle everything!! Target used to sell dill pickle cashews and they were soooo good. Definitely finding these almonds!

    Excercise

I started at the two week mark, just walking. I did the elliptical at a slow and easy pace when the treadmills were all taken at my most recent trip to the gym, and that was even better (less resistance). Can't wait to get into Zumba and kickboxing!!!! Waiting for the six week mark before I kick it into high gear.
  6. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and lost 9.5 lbs. I wouldn't worry about what hasn't happened yet- after all I've read, watched and heard, I thought I would have dropped 15-20 lbs by now. We all move at our own pace and you won't know til you're experiencing it. Enjoy the ride.

    Spicy food?

I ate chicken tikki masala twice (with ground chicken), and a half a pastele with a lil hot sauce. No issues. In fact they were a great change of pace on this stage of my diet!!
  8. I went back to coffee (regular caffeinated coffee) two weeks in, without issues. I have a cup a day (black), if that. My doc said it's fine. I was struggling energy-wise without it. I also have very little trouble drinking liquids in larger quantities. If I gulp too much, it does hurt and I realize I over-did it. But I can take very normal gulps, I wouldn't characterize them as sips. And my doc said that's normal too, and actually better for you, because teensy tiny sips often create excess gas. I would just take your time with the protein shakes so they stay with you longer. They are a meal replacement, so think of them that way.

    I’m HUNGRY

This is awesome! More to look forward to.

    I’m HUNGRY

I'm in your boat-- I can't wait to just have a new flavor!!! So sick of the same stuff. I'm one stage behind you. I'd love to live vicariously through you lol.... maybe I could help you with some suggestions. My doctor actually suggested a lot of these. Some of the things I'm looking forward to in your stage: -Tuna, in a food processor with a lil low fat mayo -Chicken (from a can so it's moist) in a food processor with a lil whipped cream cheese and a pinch of buffalo sauce -Ground chicken in homemade tomato sauce, blended completely smooth with a lil sprinkle of Parmesan cheese -boiled egg with a teensy bit of mayo and mustard in the food processor -ground chicken blended with a lil tiki masala sauce and maybe a little cooked spinach blended smooth mixed in Hope this helps

    Post recovery time to golf

As someone who travels for work a lot-- there's no way. Travel requires lifting baggage and walking all over airports, with limited food options etc. At two weeks, you'll likely be on a mostly liquid diet, you can't lift more than 10-20 lbs, and trust me when I tell you, the change in diet makes you feel weak and tired more than usual. Walking your way around a large airport dragging luggage will drain you of any energy you have. If you have the surgery, see if you can get some good time off. I only took a week off, but told my boss I can't travel for a month. I work from home/office now and I'm doing fine.

    Can't Keep Anything Down

That's a good idea. I hope you feel better soon! Keep us posted on how you are doing.

    Can't Keep Anything Down

Constipation could be from dehydration, and if you're not keeping anything down including water, that might be exasperating the issue. Were you keeping water/protein down before this? If so, what changed between now and then? Could you be coming down with something? More information would be helpful.

    Impatient and nervous

I also had six months before my surgery and I spent that time reviewing other people's journeys and mentally preparing myself for my own. I really like some of the YouTube bloggers (Clusie, ShortSleevedT, and others) who put their experience out there in and honest and entertaining way. The six months flew by for me, personally. I was very busy with appt after appt, this doctor, that doctor, nutritionist, support group, etc. Even after all that, I can say I wasn't 100% ready for the changes I made. Pre-and post-op diets are not easy, and recovery for me was relatively painless but I couldn't believe how tired and weak I was, especially that first week. I don't know why I had this vision of having the surgery and going back to life as normal easy as pie, at a rapid pace lol... Any time you feel impatient remember "All things in Gods time, not my time." I have to remind myself of that for many things in life! Good luck!!

    Cloudy urine

Update last night I called the doctor but I don't have any other symptoms of a UTI so she said to monitor it. Today things have improved, no cloudy urine and a little more energy. I think I've been trying to do too much lately and it's wearing me out. Made sure to relax today!
  16. Hi I'm 9 days post surgery. I'm getting all my protein in, drink 64 oz fluids + a day, and still feel really weak and tired. I just went to the bathroom to urinate and my pee was a nice light colored yellow, but super cloudy. I read this is likely excess protein in my urine. Is 80 grams excessive? Might I be getting too much? Has anyone else experienced this? I'm feeling nauseated and like I want to go to bed (it's not bedtime), like I might just pass out. It's too late to call the doctor.
  17. Ha mine are crazy itchy too!! Just means they are healing. I lightly scratch AROUND the incisions, NOT touching the glue, and if that doesn't work I try to distract myself. It's annoying but most of mine look almost entirely healed now and I only have about 2/3 of the glue left. The rest already peeled off naturally.
  18. Hey everyone, I'm about one week down after surgery. I've followed my doctors plan to the "T" and have NOT cheated. I'm at about 70-80 grams of protein a day, 64 oz of fluids a day, I walk everyday, I do housework, I'm feeling good and almost back to normal. However... I've only lost 2 lbs!!! I lost a lot in my pre-op diet, 14 lbs, and I didn't gain any weight in the hospital. But every YouTube vlog and website I visit, everyone has these amazing first weeks with 10+ lbs lost and I wonder if I'm the only one who started out kinda slow? Is this normal for some of us? My stats: Heaviest- 267 Before Pre-op- 257 Surgery- 243 Today- 241

    Week one- two pounds down?

Okay cool. You're right-- and I'm super happy that I lost 16 lbs this month! I was just surprised my results seem so different from everyone else's.
  20. I don't know if that's necessarily normal- it may just be normal for you. But if you do eat eggs, add a little milk and whisk them up light and fluffy. They will be easier to digest. I think Greek yogurt is super thick and hard to digest, so maybe steer clear of it for a while. For jello, I had to let it practically melt in my mouth before swallowing to not feel a "brick" in my stomach.

How often to eat/drink first week

I agree, at three days post-op I sip constantly and I feel like I'm still not reaching my goals. I've only gone through one protein shake, one cup of tea, one cup of broth, and a half bottle of Powerade zero today and it's almost time for bed. There's just no room for more. You'll do what you can and as long as you're pushing yourself to do more, eventually you will land where you need to be. I think I did half of this yesterday.
  22. sleeved2win

1 week out. Almost every sip hurts.

This is me right now too, except my surgery was 2 days ago. At least we aren't alone in this.
  23. I just had surgery yesterday; everything went smoothly according to my surgeon. Today I'm trying to eat some liquids and with every sip is pain, and if I burp it's excruciating. Is this normal? I'm scared.

    Now i'm Terrified

Remember too-- we don't know all the details regarding that woman's health. She may have had some serious existing conditions that put her at risk. The last thing you want to do is keep yourself open to getting sicker- if you wait ten years, you may have a lot more health issues by then. I had the surgery with zero health issues (besides obesity) because of my family history. Prevention is my strategy.
