How often do you throw up?
Her Royal Nonsense replied to MN_Meg770's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm almost three months post op, and I've never vomited. Did have the 'foamies' somewhat regularly for the first few weeks, but rarely anymore. I do get nauseous every once in a while, but I just lay down until it passes. What I did struggle with is bowel movements, which my doctor gave me colace for, and bariatric clinic told me to take a ducolax every weekend to clean out. I just started having BMs without having to take anything just two or three weeks ago.. -
Scared that I am not going to be able to stop eating comfort foods.
Her Royal Nonsense replied to saranimal's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
For me, a considerable part of my motivation for not going back to previous eating habits is actually the sheer amount of money I've been able to save not eating out since before and after my surgery. I would eat lunch and dinner out several times a week which made losing weight and saving money difficult. Your body will also help you through the process - I still find myself craving sweet things from time to time, but I'm also satisfied with just a bite and not the bag. -
I was planning on using my time off after surgery to find a better job although I don't have any particular grievances about my current position, but then my boss went and sent a large bouquet of flowers to my hospital room. I felt both appreciate and guilty so I held off on the job searching, although, I do still intend to move on this year. I hear you, though. While I never really felt bullied at work because of my size, I know there has been certain opportunities I have missed out on because of it. All the best with finding your new job!

Tomorrow's the day, and now I'm nervous!!
Her Royal Nonsense replied to Acts238girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's completely normal to be nervous! A few weeks ago I was perusing my Fitbit app and noticed that I had data on my surgery day (I didn't take it off until they came to wheel me to theatre) and my heart rate was going crazy that morning. Best of luck! -
December 2017 Gastric Bypass!
Her Royal Nonsense replied to 823freckles's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had RNY on December 20th. I felt like I was waiting for months for a date, and then when the hospital finally called me it was only like, 3 weeks out so I had to rush to buy the Optifast. I was also flying to Ottawa a few days before my surgery for our Christmas party, so I think the hardest part was not being able to eat while everyone else was stuffing themselves with food and getting hammered. The surgery itself went smoothly. The hospital stay did not go as smoothly, mainly on account of my roomie who I swear must have been the Devil Incarnate, but she was moved for the second night. Left the hospital in two days. I had one incident about a week or two after the surgery, my GP had told me to get liquid magnesium to help with my bowels and I didn't realize until I swallowed it that the magnesium was carbonated and I got really violently ill. Apart from that I'd get sick after eating every here and there, but nothing major. Went back to work mid-January although my energy levels weren't great and I'd have to tap out around 3ish for a week or two. BostonWLKC, my 'full feeling' is not that different from what it was prior to surgery, but I usually stop myself where I feel satisfied, not full. -
3 weeks post op and just lost 9 pounds
Her Royal Nonsense replied to Miami's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stalled for about 3 weeks after my surgery as well... the scale wouldn't budge an once and it was quite frustrating. It does seem to be pretty normal, though, so I wouldn't worry at this point. -
Time off work and telling co-workers?
Her Royal Nonsense replied to Livetothrive's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I took about 3 and a half weeks off, although my boss told me not to rush back if I needed more time. It was right in the middle of Christmas holidays - he gave everyone some time off so I really only needed to use about 10 sick days. I had just told him I was having surgery, although my coworkers knew it was a gastric bypass. I did struggle a bit with my energy levels the first few weeks back so I've had some short days, but apart from that everything has been fine.
