4 Weeks post op - I don’t want to do this anymore [emoji25][emoji25][emoji25]
Prevanwarrior replied to Brandi.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok it's tough love time... It's time to see a doctor. If the hospital that you had your surgery is close by go there..If it isn't go to the local ER and they can transort you there if necessary... DO NOT LOOK FOR MEDICAL ADVICE ON ANY FORUM. The complications of this surgery can be fatal. Even something as simple as dehydration and malnutrition from vomiting can be fatal... Run don't walk From mother to mother..please go now. -
4 Weeks post op - I don’t want to do this anymore [emoji25][emoji25][emoji25]

The scar tissue will not dissipate it can cause the stomach to become narrow which will make it hard to pass food through the stomach and eventually it will not allow food to pass at all which will cause vomiting after you eat or drink. If that happens go the ER they can help until you can see your surgeon. The medication for GERD can be prescribed by your doctor or you can buy over the counter meds like Prilosec or Nexium. I've been told that Nexium works the best. -

Honestly this story is one I hear often I work as a medical assistant for a bariactric surgon. Around this time patients are often fed up. This is also the time there is more scar tissue so the problem could be a stricture. Having GERD after sleeve surgery is actually very common. And the nutritionist I work with actually recommends not eating or drinking up to 5 hours before bedtime. But it SHOULD get better but if it doesnt it could mean a stricture as developed. If you have a feeling of liquids going down slowly or getting stuck or vomiting then you may want to have your surgeon check for a stricture. Also there is medication for GERD that you should be taking. Hope this helps -
Pre-Op Liquid Only 2 Week Diet - Help
Prevanwarrior replied to VSG-Gal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Drink alot of hot tea actually helps because it takes me awhile to drink it. And distractions also help keep busy!! Honestly I would find a new protein shake just because that's the bulk of your liquid meals I feel like it' important that they are decent tasting. -
My surgeon says strictures can happen to anyone but they are mostly a concern for revision patients (lapband to sleeve) and a smaller bougie used during surgery. This was one of my major concerns because a friend of mine had to have a revision to bypass because of a twist. They tried dilation 6 times before they tried the stent. And eventually there was just nothing that could help other than a revision. I guess the point is she tried dilation 6 times and a stent before she gave in to bypass.. My opinion is keep trying that 3rd or fourth dilation may be the one that really helps. Most of us pick sleeve because we really don't want a bypass.. this is why I don't think some surgeons should shrug off a stricture like it's an easy fix..because sometimes it's not and its' important for people to know.

I found a few reviews but There aren't very many.. I think maybe if it helps prevent gallbladder problems..it's definitely something I would take during the rapid weightloss period. As long as the side effects weren' too bad.

Had Sleeve surgery and set my front room up like a gym!
Prevanwarrior replied to 50+ssallday's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes!! We got rid of our living room furniture!! We don' use it much anyway! Best investment ever!!! -
Research a surgeon in your area and call to see if they accept your insurance.
-
Call your surgeons office to set up an appointment..they may have requirements before setting a date..such as clearance from your PCP. So definitely contact them asap.

Yes I went through the 6 month pre op diet last year..and even dragged it out to 9 months then completely chickened out..I'm glad I did because I did not like the surgeon and shortly after we moved to a different state. The pre op phase stressed me out so bad I gained weight!! The more research I did the more stressed I was. Now exactly one year later of doing this on my own working out and trying to eat healthy Ive lost 18 pounds in a year!!! Ugh..and that's with taking a prescribed appetite suppresant.. I've failed for years..tired of trying so hard to fail..I'm going to see the best surgeon in Chicago in two weeks. I hope you are more successful than I was!!

Surgery on the 27th- Dry heaves
Prevanwarrior replied to Flabtofab122717's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Is this your first surgery? When I was sixteen I had a surgery to remove a cyst. And after I was super nauseous because of the anesthesia that I was given and also the painkillers (Percocet) eventually I was able to vomit and felt alot better.. I haven' had Vsg surgery yet but I have read that some people experience the same sickness from the anesthesia. -
Wow you look amazing!!!

Has anyone had any experience with Dr. Lutfi? My first consultation is Jan 18! I have Blue Cross Family Community health plan through Medicaid. Does anyone have similar insurance what was the process like for you. Was therr any out of pocket expense for the psych evaluation? What ever you can answer would be appreciated.
