That is a huge win for you!! Pizza is my weakness so I can imagine how hard that was. Today was ok because I was very busy with clients. I feel like tomorrow is going to be much harder. Going to the movies with a group of friends. Most of them know what is going on so it should be ok but not having a snack at the theater is going to be hard! I’m packing a couple of sugar free jellos! I bought a journal today so that I can track how I’m feeling and what I eat. A friend of mine is coming over tomorrow to pick up all my food so it’s not here tempting me. Next goal is to stock up on protein water and broth for the first week. I already stocked up on protein shakes. Do you have to have special bariatric shakes or can you choose what to drink? The first doc I went to had special ones I would have to buy from his office but the doc I decided to go with allows me to choose as long as it meets the macro requirements.

I have to toss everything or I will be tempted lol. I am amazed you made it to the gym. Congrats! And you started the pre op diet early?! You are awesome!
-
I don’t either. I get to have two shakes and a small meal with meat and veggies. Basically low carb. The hardest part for me will be not snacking.

My pre op diet starts tomorrow! That is the one thing I’m nervous about. I know it’s going to be tough but I also know it will be worth it. Keeping my eyes on the prize! I also plan to go through my fridge and pantry and toss or give away anything I won’t be eating in the next 6 weeks. I don’t even want to be tempted.

I met with Dr Englehardt today and I’m convince he is the doc for me! Can’t wait to have my surgery! How have your results been so far? -
San Antonio Bariatric surgeons?
lindsayAK replied to Shilatte's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Good to hear! He charges 6k more than Dr Patel. Just not sure if it’s worth it. Such a hard decision but I really want to get the surgery ASAP! Did you have bypass or the sleeve? -

I have met with Dr Patel and he seems nice enough. I also made an appointment to speak with Dr Englehardt with BMI of Texas but he charges 6k more for the same surgery! Any recommendations would be appreciated!! -

I just met with Dr Patel with Texas Bariatric Specialists. He suggested this route for me and quoted 5k with the hernia. 9k without. I am pretty sure he has an office in Austin. I am in SA. -
Hi! I am in San Antonio and researching doctors. Which doctor did you go to?

Self Pay, Hernia, and Complication Questions!
lindsayAK replied to AuDBall's topic in Insurance & Financing
Wow that almost sounds scary. I am glad they are having me do testing even though I will be self pay. I am also on a timeline so I hope I can get it all done as soon as possible. Not really sure what the sleep study is for. I’m sorry to ask you so many questions but I really appreciate your responses. I am wondering how your post op was. I am hoping to get my surgery done in the next month because I am able to take the most time off from work. However, my parents will be here visiting at the time, for about two months. Yes my parents visit every year for about two months! Lol. Anyways, I am only concerned that they will not be supportive in my recovery post op. I don’t want to postpone surgery if I don’t have to but I’m also worried I will not have any energy to spend time with them while they are here. -
Self Pay, Hernia, and Complication Questions!
lindsayAK replied to AuDBall's topic in Insurance & Financing
Thank you for the info. I have a follow up appointment on 1/05 to go over the results of my GI and to see the dietician. He is also having me complete a sleep study. Did you have to do that? I will confirm with him that his quote is a package price and not a guesstimate. -

Did you ever get a quote from Blossom Bariatrics? I didn’t see a price listed on the website. Saw a surgeon in my area, Dr Patel in SATX, and he quoted me 9k or 5k if I have a hernia. I’m nervous that 9k will double somehow.
