2 weeks post op and am eating soft foods
Flabtofab122717 replied to joeie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My dr. Required 2 week liquid diet post-op, followed by 4 weeks of puréed foods, and then at 6 weeks I can start to introduce regular food again . I was sleeved on 12/27, so I just started the puréed phase. I’ve had some of the same feelings, even in this stage. But it’s all in our heads. At least for me I know it is. It’s natural, but that’s the part we really have to work on. The surgery is just a tool; if we don’t take time in this first year to address all the other issues besides our stomachs that led us to obesity, eventually we will be right back where we started. I’ve started a journal. It helps me when I’m in my head to much to get it out and surprisingly, it helps me come up with some of my own solutions. You will be fine and you will lose weight. Good luck to you! -

Love this post. Congrats to everyone! I was sleeved 12/27/17, and am down 15 pounds since my surgery and 43 pounds from my highest weight when I started all this in October. Yesterday, I took a selfie. Straight on. Not holding my phone up in the air to hide my double chin. And when I reviewed the picture- double chin was gone! I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty excited! Lol:)

I would follow your doctors orders. If that includes introducing those things 6 days post -op, then do it. If not, figure out something to occupy your hands and mind until it is time to eat those things. It seems like hell right now, but the rules are there for a reason and your protection. Not to mention, think of all you’ve done to get to where you are right now. Spending a few more days on the prescribed diet is nothing compared to what you accomplished prior to surgery! You got this! I wish you the best!

New to the group, sleeved on 12/27. Feeling alright, except having BP issues. I was on meds prior to surgery, and now my pressures are low post surgery and my body isn’t sure how to deal with normal pressures. Dizzy bed lightheadedwhen I am standing/ get up from sitting down. Dr. Is monitoring. Anyone else deal with this?

Will I make it through 1 more week of Protein shakes?!
Flabtofab122717 replied to Darlenekm's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Looks like we were sleeved a day apart and I am totally feeling the same way! While the idea of eating is just starting to become something I think about (I had bad oversion to Everything this first week) Food is starting to smell and look good now. However, I can’t stomach any of the product my dr. Had me purchase afterwards, so my only protein source has been Core Life Elite Shakes and Skim and chocolate fair life milk. And every time I have to drink another shake, I just wanna puke. Hang in Here! -
I’m new to all this ( just sleeved on the 27th) so I may be completely off on my way of thinking, but this is how I look at this: I didn’t have this surgery so I could never have a cookie, never enjoy my favorite dishes ever again, or to feel shamed every time I do. I’ve felt all those feelings my whole overweight, dieting, adult life. I had this surgery to help me be healthier- to help me focus on the issues with my relationship/addiction to food. That is my main goal.To have a HEALTHY relationship with food, so I can eat to live, not Live to eat. Once I learn a new way to navigate that relationship, I fully plan to enjoy an occasional cookie or a bite or two of my favorite dishes. I would never judge. However, I agree with a previous poster that I am concerned for you and that this behavior might continue and ruin all your hard work of you don’t reel in the old habits and really focus on a healthy relationship with food. That said, I wouldn’t beat yourself up about it- instead, I would take a step back, recognize what happened, maybe reflect a little on what led/triggered you to over indulge, learn something from it and let it go. Today is a new day. I wish you the best.

Surgery tomorrow 12/27
Flabtofab122717 replied to Flabtofab122717's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First few days I had to sleep on the couch, there was no getting comfortable. I am up every 2-3 hours still, but I take a quick 10 minute walk to loosen some of the gas up and lay back down and an able to get back to sleep. Don’t know what your doc prescribed you for meds, but mine gave me some Valium, and I take it right before bed and that helps a lot. I average about 8 hours, with waking up 2-3 times a night. A pillow under my stomach has been helpful as well. -
Surgery tomorrow 12/27

Getting better. Still a ton of trapped gas, but I have been able to stop the dilaudid pain meds. Still taking the zofran and meds for esophageal spasms pretty regularly. Able to consume a little more liquid each day and some protein. Deffinately not a walk in the park yet tho. Whoever says this is the easy way out can kiss my ass -
Had my sleeve done on the 27th. Came home yesterday. Been experiencing dry heaves like 3-4 times a day. It’s almost like an air bubble gets trapped, my mouth instantly starts watering and I am immediately nauseous. Dry heave some do some deep breathing and burp a ton and it passes. I was assured by the dr. That this is normal, just trying to see if anyone else went through this and how long it lasted? I’m taking all my meds as prescribed, walking and sipping water. Nothing smells or tastes good, and my dr. Said in these first few days fluids are most important and fit in protein as I can. Just looking for some reassurance this isn’t going to last forever...

New here. Been reading these boards for the last few weeks, my first time posting. I am scheduled for surgery at 8:30 am tomorrow morning, 12/27. Getting nervous! Excited for what this means for my life, mostly nervous about having actual surgery and complications. But it’s taken me two years to get to this point and there is no turning back now. Sit have to have faith that everything is going to be fine.
