Remind yourself that "you know what that tastes like" or a mind trick I like to play is picturing the food being sneezed on or made with dirty hands or dropped on a gas station bathroom floor. Keep your focus. Take healthy snacks with you to those parties if they are something you MUST attend.

$99 for entire year supply of "1 per Day!" Bariatric Multivitamins!
KCgirl061 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I bought a year supply of BP One just last month! I love just having to take one multi a day! Definitely recommend! -
Egh. I've done that too. Not to that extreme I think but just that mindless eating and stuffing bite after bite. I hope you can get past it and it doesn't happen again.

Peanut Butter Has Ruined My Life
KCgirl061 replied to wallpapermusic's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
OH man, I'm sorry to hear that. I like having peanut butter at night with my multivitamin, it keeps me from getting nauseous. So peanut butter is my friend. But because of the high calories I use PB2 - both the plain and cocoa added. If you ever feel like giving PB a second chance maybe you can try that. Good luck with your interview! Hope it goes well for you. -
Negative comments

Just keep in mind, you most likely have done in depth research about what you're about to go through. Odds are, they have not. They are going off what they heard from Oprah over 20 years ago or other pseudo "experts" out there. They're ignorant. And I do mean that to be mean, but they are, they don't know that they don't know what they're talking about. -
Sorry Dude. Guess we don't pay attention to the group the thread is categorized in. Unless there is a way to make it to where ONLY members registered as male can see the the Guys Only forum its going to keep happening. And even if they manage to do something like that some gender fluid member will come along and complain about it.

Oh my gosh, stay diligent about it! It can awful!

You can consume it if you want those benefits but do not count it towards your protein intake. It is an incomplete protein and doesn't include some of the necessary amino acids. The best protein for us is whey protein isolate and is what you want to look for when choosing a shake or powder to supplement to your food.

I'm 10 months out and I still drink Miralax in my tea every morning and will make sure I'm getting plenty of fiber in my diet. I'll throw benefiber in my yogurt and premier shakes when I drink them. Congratulations on your poo!

Lies to tell people about what surgery I am having
KCgirl061 replied to a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hernia repairs are common surgeries. And like someone else said, you might want to leave gallbladder open in case that one does become medically necessary. -
First thing you ate when you were cleared for normal food
KCgirl061 replied to mrblond's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think I had Chana Saag. Paneer Saag is one of my favorite dishes but I could mush the chickpeas easier than paneer. Took protein powder with me to add to it. -
Very cool!

Still head hungry. Want to eat all day.

Keep your hands busy: Paint your nails, get a coloring book, learn to knit, put together a puzzle, reorganize a closet. Drink drink drink. Get rid of the snack food. Throw it out, you don't need it. -
Make sure you are sipping! Take one at a time. Your sip should be so small that it could rest under your tongue (in that pocket) and you could talk. Sip, hold, breathe all air out and swallow. The pressure pain comes from swallowing air and early out is very uncomfortable. One sip too many and youll get a tight pinch and a lot of pressure. Before the pinch youll feel the pressure and that's how youll know to stop and slow down. It's a lot of work to be in tune with your new anatomy and change old habits but its very much worth it!

Weirdest things you are looking forward to after surgery
KCgirl061 replied to Krestel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a great one and one I looked forward to as well. My only issue now goes back to the lack of padding on my behind and my tailbone sitting on the hard porcelain of the bathtub makes it hard to relax! -
Are we allowed to donate blood? Has anyone ever been given the go ahead? Prior to donating they encourage you to eat a high iron food items and be well hydrated, both of which can be issues for bariatrics. Just curious if anyone had asked their doctors about this.

They are giving out Royals baseball tickets at the blood drive. Very tempting, but probably not worth potential dehydration and anemia. Just curious.

Packing a bag for the hospital
KCgirl061 replied to onepreciousk's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A lot of people would suggest packing your own socks or house slippers for walking the halls. I don't like the idea of this, I work in the operating room and know that surgeons and PAs and such walk right out the OR up to the nursing floors dragging blood particles with them. Gross. I suggest you wear the socks they give you and throw them away. My suggestion mirrors GradyCat's above. Plus maybe your own pillow. -
What can I take to Sleep ?

10mg of Melatonin does the trick for me. -

You have to eat A LOT of fat to be on a true Keto diet and get into ketosis. It's doable but I prefer to focus on a high protein/ low sugar diet, I think its more sustainable long term.

The reason that incision will hurt more than the others is because its the port site used for a liver retractor - during the surgery more torque is put on it to lift the liver away from the stomach while they work on creating your bypass. The other ports don't stress the surrounding tissue. Hope that helps ease your mind!

Stretching pouch directly after surgery?
KCgirl061 replied to Krestel's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Early out if you truly overfill your sleeve you aren't doing to stretch it, you're going to cause a leak, which is ultimately much more dangerous. Stick to the portions directed by your surgeon and the pace you should be eating.
