Close! Ill submit to insurance in June after my final doctors appointment. The surgeon’s office said I’d be looking at a July surgery date.
-
My PCP is under the same healthcare system that the surgeon is in, that way the WLS coordinator can easily gain access to those appointment documents.

Anybody take motrin after sleeve?
KCgirl061 replied to Lainey1983's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would be hesitant to start taking NSAIDs. If you get headaches often you might want to take the motrin again and again, it could be a slippery slope. Have you tried essential oils or maybe chiropractic or accupuncuture? Just my two cents. -
Your insurance requirements sound the same as mine. 6 mo medically supervised weight loss - at least 5% . My consult with the surgeon was "lose the weight, doesnt matter how. See the psychologist, schedule the tests and we'll see you in June."

Should I be able to eat this much?

Its visible on the full site if you log in on a computer. It's not a feature of my mobile app (probably not yours either) -
Am so tired of people who ask every ten minutes why they're not losing weight
KCgirl061 replied to Creekimp13's topic in Rants & Raves
What do you mean she does this a lot? Are you talking just on this thread or do you notice she has a habit of bullying multiple people on multiple threads by asking them to clarify their crypt posts? -

This post continues to be hella entertaining - even though the OP moved on like 6 days ago. -
I'm in month 2 of my 6 month required medically supervised weight loss. Only mildly obsessed with reading everything I can find about WLS, usually people's questions, concerns and experiences here on BariatricPal.

OMG I think I have a new favorite board on this site. This thread has been both entertaining and informative!

I played that game of "who would play you in the movie of your life" and a friend suggested Kelly Clarkson for me. I loved it!

Does that brand have vitamin D as well?

Has anyone had surgery using the DaVinci - either sleeve or RNY? Curious about any positive or negative outcomes of the technique.

My husband is dead set against me having wls. Any advice on how to overcome that?
KCgirl061 replied to dreamangel1974's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I read this posted by someone else on the site once and its really stuck with me: Surgery IS NOT the easy way out, but let's say it was. Why is that a bad thing? Why wouldn't he want an easy solution for your problem. Why is easy inherently evil in this situation? Can you imagine if someone said that about cancer? "You have cancer, but it's easily treated." "Yeah, no thanks. I don't want to take the easy way out." -

I thought it was hilarious. I've only been wandering these forums for 2 months and made similar observations. I haven't posted a whole lot but I hope I haven't been one to cause you to roll your eyes and groan. Creekimp, I actually always look for your comments because I find them insightful and just enough "tough love" without being offputting (in my opinion anyway) and I hope you continue to stick around. Also, I love you, I think we should be BESTIES!! LOL -
Thank you everyone for your responses! I'm so glad I found this forum for support and gathering real life experiences. I appreciate it so much! Many of you were correct, the surgeon didn't even read the forms, they were for insurance purposes. We just sat and talked about why I was ready to take the surgery route and whether it was the right decision for me. So far so good, have EGD, gallbladder sonograms, EKGs and labs scheduled for April. Making plans for the psych consult and pre op class I have to take. Looking at a mid July surgery date! I hope it goes faster than it feels right now!

I'm SO nervous about my first consult with the surgeon tomorrow. Especially with this form I'm having to fill out: "Why do you think you failed with other diet programs?" I dunno! Lack of self control, loss of motivation. Whats the answer he is looking for? Is there a right one? IS THERE A WRONG ONE? Why is this freaking me out so much?!

1 month post op today and feeling frusterated!!
KCgirl061 replied to Holls06's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In my opinion it’s more important for you to keep your stress levels low than it is to keep your surgeon happy. I think Creekimp13 nailed it - surgeons care about what their numbers look like. Really what is your surgeon going to do if you don’t meet his numbers? Undo your surgery? Take your birthday away? Try not to stress about it and congrats on the process you have made! [emoji322] -
Yay! How exciting for you! Congrats![emoji322]

After talking about WLS surgery with my husband and getting his full support, I finally had my first visit with my pcp this week and scheduled the consult with the surgeon next month. He knows I need to star losing weight, and yes I do have 6 whole months to do it in. But today he came home the store with a package of chocolate chip cookies, carton of ice cream, and two bags of chips! I don’t have a specific plan in mind to lose my BCBS required 5%. I’ve started with eliminating soda and packing lean cuisines and fruit for lunch instead of heading to the cafeteria for chicken strips, cheeseburgers and fries and the like. Looking for diet advice during those months of medically supervised weight loss. Thanks in advance

I’m willing to bet it’s poor wording. I can’t imagine an insurance company willing to pay for bypass but not the sleeve. It’s probably because bypass is the more known procedure and people not familiar with bariatric surgery don’t know about or think about the sleeve.

Nicotine Blood and Urine Screening
KCgirl061 replied to Magen6691's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your big victory! I don’t think the doctor is looking for the nicotine to have cleared in 3 months so much as he’s wanting you to have had a handle on your smoking addiction for three months. You’re about to go through some big changes in your life and he wants to make sure you can handle that kind of stress without wanting to reach for a cigarette to cope. -
Unsupportive or jealous friends
KCgirl061 replied to Jerseygirl4523's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I’m sorry to hear that. My best friend has been through several diets with me and while I have continually failed, she has been very successful the last two years. She was the first person I told when I started considering wls. She doesn’t think I need it and thinks I’d be successful if I try what she has been doing. But even though she wouldn’t choose it for me she always supports me. I hope your friendship stays strong through your surgery. Find another person to be your support for this and try not to let it get in the way of a great friendship. Good luck and enjoy your cruise this summer! -
Keep your head up! There is nothing wrong with a slow steady weight loss. And a benefit is that your skin is more likely to catch up and shrink with you.

Help My Hair is falling out
KCgirl061 replied to Jadeskys's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I don’t have experience in this but honestly I wouldn’t think a permanent on hair that is struggling to stay healthy is a good idea at all.
