Walk me through your operation
KCgirl061 replied to Dee2938's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is very similar to GreenTealael. The only difference is my surgeon wants his patients walking to prevent blood clots. So I got registered, walked. Talked to anesthesia, walked. Talked to surgeon, walked. Got a Lovenox shot in my belly, walked. Nurse came and I walked back to the OR and climbed on the OR table. Last thing I remember is anesthesia telling me to go to my happy place and my responding "Imma go to Disney World!" I did not go to Disney. It was a little disappointing. -
I have to take Miralax daily. I add a capful to my morning tea or coffee. Other than that I try to keep my fiber intake at least 25g a day.

should i intervene?

That's quite the ethical dilemma! I think I would do so. Yes you could be justified in 'minding your own business'. But if he were to continue to follow the path he is on and dies, you'd always wonder "could that phone call I thought of making have made the difference?". It might and it might not, but at least you can rest in knowing that you did what you could to help him. -
Taste doesn’t bother me. Doesn’t bother my husband either and he is very picky about his milk 🙄

Do you take calcium supplements if you are getting 4-5 servings of dairy in your diet?

Another scary one is a case study where a guys' spine basically crumbled. Only 2 years after having his surgery. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S235218721830007X -
Meh to the scale now?
KCgirl061 replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sure, just don't ignore it entirely! -
Meh to the scale now?
KCgirl061 replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yeah I get it but if your weight sneaks up to 160 then 163 then 165 and you aren't getting on the scale so you don't notice it.... -
Pain after surgery
KCgirl061 replied to Alex_1990!'s topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
It is likely residual CO2 that they pump into you during the surgery. Not all surgeons are good about getting it out before closing you up. Does it radiate up to the shoulders or stay in your rib area? -
Meh to the scale now?
KCgirl061 replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I keep my eye on the scale weekly. Its probably unnecessary at this point in my journey, but I want to keep in the habit of doing it because when I was preop and ignored the scale that's when 10-20 pounds always snuck up on me. -
Feeling cold, does it get better with time or a forever thing?
KCgirl061 replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a year out - still cold all the time. -

TAKE YOUR CALCIUM! You need the extra even though you are getting plenty of dairy in your diet. And labs wont show a calcium defect until its TOO LATE. People tend to think losing their teeth and getting dentures are the worst that could happen but the bones in your feet can literally start crumbling. And by then there is nothing that can be done. TAKE YOUR CALCIUM! -
Unfamiliar with that protein powder but I would skip the traditional milk. Mix it with water or almond milk. Another good alternative is Fairlife milk, which is less sugar and more protein.

I just go to the container section at Walmart. The little plastic ones do okay in the freezer, but do crack if dropped.

Well done! Enjoy the process!

That's awesome! So glad you had a good time!

I would advise you to stay off the scale during your first several weeks after surgery. Your focus should be on fluids and protein, fluids and protein. Seeing the scale not meeting your expectations - whether its a natural result of just having surgery or stalls that are just a normal part of the weight loss process - only serves to stress you out. You don't need stress, so just focus on the fluids and protein and know that the weight loss will happen.

Woke up early today and trying to enjoy some peace and quiet with my coffee before we have to go out and buy a new mower, school supplies for the kids, and pick up for company coming tonight. Busy days like this are ones I don't always find time to sit down and eat slowly and get all my water in. Anyone else struggle with diet compliance on busier days??

I’ve got a winner!!! (Calcium Citrate Chews)
KCgirl061 replied to GingerSlim's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
These are my favorite too! I buy them from the Bariatric Pal store for about $34 each, I participate in the forums and about every 3 months redeem my points for gift cards to use. And because I order 3 month supplies at a time, I always qualify for the free shipping! -
I am so much a morning owl. Once I'm up I can't just roll over and go back to sleep, its like I feel every ache and pain in my back and legs and got to get up and start moving.

Have you tried the different flavored tuna packets? They can be good!
-
Sipped on a flavored vodka with water at 6 weeks. Got drunk very fast and sobered up just as quickly. Still like that a year out. Its like a party trick, my friends still get a kick out of it.

Those are gorgeous! What were the headshots for? Modeling? Acting?

Was reviewing vacation pictures from 4 years ago. There aren't very many pictures of me because I was uncomfortable being in front of the camera. Sometimes I regret not sucking it up and letting myself be in the picture and sometimes not...

Another Milestone & Words of Encouragement

Yay! Keep up the good work!! -
I doubt I was getting in 1/2 cup of food at that time. It was more like 1/4 cup. I'm a year out now and not quite able to get in a full cup. (Unless its a slider food of course)
