Thank you! I'll make sure he knows to stay mindful of that as a potential side effect.

3 years post op. HELP! Experiencing bad pains
KCgirl061 replied to long_journey's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Gosh that sounds awful! I'm so sorry you're going through that. I'm sorry I don't have any advice but I hope you get it figured out soon, -
Ghrelin is back (and mad at me)
KCgirl061 replied to KCgirl061's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thats great advice. However, up here in the midwest it is COLD out! I'm bundled up with a stocking cap and space heater on! I think I'm going to grab a favorite book or perhaps work on a puzzle. -
I have a rant. A big one. The dang Premier Protein class action lawsuit that apparently caused ALL THE GOOD FLAVORS to disappear from shelves! I'm aware they have to reformulate and re package. But it doesn't make me happy about it! I know they issued a statement that they are continuing to produce their most popular flavors Vanilla and Chocolate. UH HELLO.... every protein drink company and their dog makes Chocolate and Vanilla! Its the only stupid flavors I can find anywhere in ANY BRAND! I miss Peaches and Banana and Caramel and Cookies n Cream! Wish I could go back in time 3 months and buy a bunch up to get me through this "difficult time"

I'm craving either plain ol chocolate or salty pretzels. Nuts help with the pretzel craving but haven't figured out how to deal with the chocolate craving yet!
-
I decided to buy the 17 variety pack of Syntrax Nectar. Not fond of all the flavors but at least it's something different. They are 23 grams of protein but if you make it with Fairlife milk you can boost it up to 34 grams.

End of my pre op, now the waiting begins. Insurance approved or denied!?

There are so many branches of BCBS it’s hard to tell. But mine came back in less than 24 hours. Hopefully you don’t have to wait long! -
Not that Interested in food

I'm almost 6 months out and some days I go without cravings and some days they come. Usually its a craving for something sweet. I try to ignore it because I know it won't go away if I have something, I'll only want more. -
Eating and drinking

I worried about that too. You’ll find when you chew chew chew your food that it’s less of a problem. -

February 5th, The first day of my new life
KCgirl061 replied to Greg White's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did it a couple weeks before starting my liquid diet. My husband and I went out on a nice dinner date to a Brazilian steakhouse - where they bring all the nice cuts of meat to your table on skewers. I enjoyed that we splurged on a nice meal. -
Getting Frustrated... and I thought things were going too well

I had to buy my preop liquid diet from my surgeon too. Did not care for it. Still have pouches of the crap sitting in my pantry. -
People with no more than 100 pounds to lose
KCgirl061 replied to jasmineinmymind's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgery weight was 202 and I'm 5'4". So I'm looking to lose 60-70 pounds. I've lost 55 pounds so far and am 5 and a half months post op. Its been 10 pounds a month pretty consistently. -
I highly recommend taking some gentle laxatives like Smooth Move tea and Miralax before you get backed up to the point of impaction. That is NOT fun to deal with.

I had the sleeve. My goals are to get a minimum 60 grams of protein and 60 fluid ounces a day. For vitamins I take 3 calcium/vitamin D chews during the day, one multivitamin with iron at bedtime (Procare Health). I also take 10mg of biotin at bedtime and a high dose B12 twice a week. Sorry I cant remember the dose of the B12. Hope that helps.

1 week to go and feeling slightly lost
KCgirl061 replied to elcee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always think of clean eating as eating things that don't have ingredients but that ARE ingredients. Lean meats, fruits and veggies, milk and unprocessed *real* cheeses. Things you find on the perimeter of the grocery store and not in the aisles. -
I threw on one of my 12 year old daughter's tee shirts for fun the other day! Being a preteen she was horrified of course!

Surgery in 2 1/2 hours and I am a nervous wreck 😢
KCgirl061 replied to MeaganMB's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Getting through surgery and that first month is the hardest part! Soon the weight will be falling off and you'll be like the rest of us raving that it was the best thing youve ever done! Good luck! -
Thanks everyone! I'm feeling much better!

Well I didn’t behave over my holiday break. I went to visit family over New Years weekend and didn’t self monitor my fluid intake. I leisurely sipped on coffee and maybe a glass or two of water. After 5 days I returned to work and promptly got hot, dizzy, and lightheaded. Tried for a couple days to catch up and it happened again. So today I get to go get 2 liters of IV fluids. Keep up with your fluids peeps! Especially when you change your routine.

Stigma may keep people from getting weight loss surgery
KCgirl061 replied to Born in Missouri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My physician didn't want me to have the surgery. He said that its too permanent and that there were too many sacrifices I'd have to live with the rest of my life. He then went on to say I need to diet and exercise and that I just needed to make life long changes to my lifestyle. So I told him I'd rather make the changes and sacrifices that lead to EFFECTIVE LONG TERM weight loss. It was a long, frustrating appointment. There were tears. But I finally got him on board. Thank goodness I did tons of research myself before approaching him and had an arsenal of information all ready to go.
