Easter candy problems
KCgirl061 replied to KCgirl061's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
LOL autocorrect can be such a pain! Its pretty easy to tell the difference between autocorrect and just plain bad grammar though. No worries! The sugar free chocolate and candies are a great idea. I need to keep a stash at work. There isn't a lot of unhealthy options usually in my home but there plenty there that usually start calling my name around 2 or 3 o'clock. -
My surgeon warned me it was a possibility. I don't dump, neither does a friend of mine who had RNY - there is no guarentee either way.

Easter candy problems

Thats a great idea. I don't care for jelly beans either or Peeps so I think that's what will end up in the kid's baskets this year! -
Pre Surgery Anxiety - Need Some Positive Support
KCgirl061 replied to TreeMystic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think people tend to go to the forums to look for support when they need it, but when things are going well they don't think to include in their every day activities. So I don't think it shows a realistic view of just how many successful WLS people there are. I struggle with my food choices but otherwise I haven't had any complications regarding my surgery. I hope things go well for you as well! -

Arsenic, Lead Found in Popular Protein Supplements
KCgirl061 replied to RoisinPáircéir's topic in Food and Nutrition
I wonder if they tested other protein products as well. The article only lists powders. I'd be interested in learning about the bars, which I eat frequently to keep me full longer and satisfy my chocolate cravings. -
Can I just take a minute to rave about Quest Bars? Cause I LOOOVE Quest Bars. I know, I know, not everyone shares my affection - some don’t care for the taste, or maybe they don’t dig the texture. 20 grams of protein? Yes please! 15 grams of fiber? Yes please! CHOCOLATE?! Hell yes! If you haven’t given Quest Bars a try, what are you waiting for? *hint* take them out of the wrapper and warm in the microwave for 10 seconds- HEAVEN!

Puree options limited please help
KCgirl061 replied to Lochnessamber's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I think you could safely expand your list of things to season with. What about salsa? I would make a little fiesta plate with chicken cooked in salsa and a little refried beans. Ricotta bake is yummy, and I would add sugar free Torani or DaVinci syrups to ricotta cheese for a sweet treat. -
Yay! Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

Losing Insurance Used For Sleeve
KCgirl061 replied to freidaboat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'd have to check your specific UHC policy. Bariatrics are usually an "add-on" to the policies that employers choose to allow for their employees or not. -
I haven't! How are they different??

Kind of staples used at BariatricPal Hospital MX?
KCgirl061 replied to Coconutty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm not sure anyone actually working in surgery at the hospital monitors these forums to be able to answer your question. Is there a reason you're concerned about the stapler brand? -
Only lost 4 lbs in 6 days on pre op diet
KCgirl061 replied to Briswife15's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Sounds like you did fine. You could be retaining water too, effecting the scale. -
My coordinator told me that a lot of denials are based on the verbiage in the medical records and missing information. If you have a good bariatric coordinator that knows what the insurance companies are looking for then you probably don't need to worry.

Is what you're eating considered a slider food? I can eat my Halo Top ice cream and never feel the same restriction I do with more solid foods like lean meats and vegetables. I have to measure it out because if I eat it straight from the pint I will finish the whole thing off. You can't rely solely on the size of your pouch to lose and keep the weight off. Too many 'bad' foods are things that slide through. You need to make sure you are making the lifestyle change and eating healthy, wholesome food.

No wine/alcohol for one year?
KCgirl061 replied to shanshan's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Most surgeons want you to obtain from alcohol but it will vary. I've seen 3 months, 6 months, a year.... There isn't a hard and fast rule of one year no alcohol.
