    Diet

I'm not sure how people returned to work right away. It seemed like my only focus the first 2 weeks was to sip sip sip to get all my fluid and protein in. I managed but I literally sat in my recliner all day with a variety of fluids next to me.

    vitamins for lifetime?

Oh that's odd. My surgeon and I'm sure many others say YES to vitamins for life.
  3. My family came for a visit this weekend and brought their snacking habits with them. Cadbury mini eggs and whoppers made their way into the house, a bag of pretzels showed up, my brother brought a pan of brownies..... It started with "I'm just going to have one little bit of chocolate." But then it was another and another. I had a bit of everything! Why is Easter candy so addictive to me?? They are leaving this morning with all the junk food they brought with them and I am starting a new day, new month. Back to healthy eating and ignoring the Easter candy displays at the stores.
  4. My reaction to her food intake was "well there's the problem! Poor girl probably doesn't realize that she is consuming HELLA carbs!" Ditch the OJ - thats full of sugar and is no better than drinking soda. Replace the bananas and papayas with berries - banana and papaya are high sugar fruits. You need to replace the carbs with proteins - they will keep you fuller longer. and speaking of protein - WHY IS IT YOU ARENT HAVING ANY PROTEIN UNTIL DINNERTIME?! Seriously - there is a small amount in your soy milk and a small amount in the cream cheese. But a majority of your protein is the stuff you're eating after 6pm. No wonder you're hungry.

    Hardest part

For me its been sticking to a healthy diet once my hunger returned. It was easy to ignore unhealthy foods when I wasn't hungry and its much much harder now. I have to be very deliberate in making my food choices and saying NO to food I know isn't healthy.

1 week post op, liquid diet

I have a coworker that also got lactose intolerant after surgery. She had good luck with Fairlife milk but if you feel you aren't hitting your protein goals it would be a good idea to get plant based protein shakes or yogurts. You could also add the powdered peanut butter to your drinks. Good luck! That's rough!
  7. Maybe you're just retaining water? Did you happen to have a high sodium meal?
  8. Good for you! You'll have that steak again someday too! I love a good steak!

Can anyone post a sample of diet

For breakfast I have either eggs or yogurt. Lunch is often a P3 and raw veggies. I have a quest bar for an afternoon snack - thats when hunger comes roaring in and the chocolate in the quest bar helps tame the beast. Then for dinner its lean meat and veggies and sometimes a small high fiber/high protein tortilla. (Right now for dinners I'm working through some shredded pork roast I made last weekend - yum!)

    Band to possible Sleeve...

I have 2 friends that went from having bands to RNY. Both have now lost more than they ever had with their bands.
  11. You should be fine by the morning. Good luck!
  12. Are you tracking your food intake? What are you eating? How much are you eating? You can't rely on your surgery alone to lose and keep the weight off. You may need to go beyond asking us in the support group for help and talk to your surgeon, nutritionist or even a therapist if you need help making the lifestyle change needed to lose the rest of the weight and keep it off.

    Multivitamins?

I think Flintstones are okay short term when youre starting out on chewables but as you get further out you'll want to switch to something more fitting. A lot of people take the multivitamins that you take 4 times a day but I prefer the complete ones that I only have to remember to take once several hours out from my calcium. Right now I'm taking ProCare Now vitamins but when I'm out I might try the BariatricPal multis they sell in the online store.

9 days post-op yogurt and peanut butter???

Instead of peanut butter go pick up some PB2! That way its more concentrated protein, way less fat and you can thin it to the consistency that is safe. Same thing with yogurt, thin it with high protein milk like Fairlife.

    Hair loss

Mine started around month 4 and started slowing around month 6. I still have strands come out here and there. I'm almost 8 months out, havent seen the new hairs start sprouting out yet.

    kicking sugar

Since youre having bypass Id have to say before. I had sleeve and when my gherlin hormone disappeared for 6 months postop I had no problem giving up sugar. Then like an idiot I let it back in and now I'm on the struggle bus again.

    looking for a free app

Your iPhone might already have one simply called Health. I have it on my phone but don't remember specifically loading it. The icon is a white square with a red heart in the upper right corner. Within the app is Health Data and from there you can go to Heart and log blood pressure. In Results there is an area for glucose and oxygen saturation.
  18. Have you tried hot tea? I like to start my day with hot herbal tea, it feels like it relaxes and dilates my sleeve and allows for easier fluid consumption.
  19. Gosh no. I have had zero complications though - no dumping or other food intolerances, no heartburn. The worst part has been my thinning hair. It distresses me at times but not enough that I ever regret the surgery.
  20. No complications here either! Pretty successful - maintenance mode now. I sick around to support and encourage others as well as get support battling my ever present sugar addiction.

    Post op since 2011

Can't rely solely on your surgery to lose the weight and maintain that weight loss. Your best bet would be to use your tool in conjunction with something that helps you make the right food choices like Weight Watchers or Noom. Start an exercise routine. Don't feel like you have to go at it hard core. Start walking or taking exercise classes like zumba. Good Luck!

    I finally got approved!!!

I think I just had to pay my co-insurance, which based on my insurance plan was $300. Nothing had to be paid upfront to my surgeon.

    Coffee with Premier Protein

I have to start my day out with a hot beverage. Usually its herbal tea with my miralax in it. Then I can start drinking room temp water. Cold water is the worst. It feels like it tightens up my sleeve and almost cramps it. I'm 7 months out and can eat enough I don't have to supplement with protein drinks, but I do keep Premier around for use as coffee creamer - I think its a great substitute for liquid creamers!

    No support system

Just try your best to remove yourself from the situation. Grab something to drink and head to the bedroom to paint your nails, take a bath, journal, read a book, get one of those adult coloring books or a crossword puzzle book. There are lots of ways to distract yourself and still let your family continue with the life (and meals) of their choosing. You can do it!
