    Weight loss

Get rid of those drinks! That's a huge rule not only to losing the weight and maintaining your loss but also it impedes your body from absorbing the nutrients it needs to be healthy! Seriously. If you need to get back on track, take the baby steps to do so. Start with going back to rule #1 - no drinking before and after meals! Then start focusing on what you're eating. You can do this!

    Follow up today

I hate this comment. I'm lucky no one has said it to me but if they ever do I have my response: "So What? Even if that were true - which its not - what's inherently evil about easy? If you were told you had cancer and that it could be easily treated with surgery are you gonna say 'No thanks, Doc, I think I'd rather treat it the hard way'? No, that would be ridiculous."

    Popcorn

I waited until I was 6 months post to eat popcorn to avoid the kernels causing problems. Popcorn is definitely a slider and you have to be careful with it. I personally don't feel its "bad" to have popcorn. If you want to keep it healthy stick to air popped or Skinny Girl brand. I have one of those Pampered Chef microwave popcorn makers - it limits the amount I eat and keeps me from binging. Occasionally we will get popcorn at the movies but certainly not every time.
  5. Oh good point. Maybe when I microwave meats I should add extra moisture and reduce the cooking power.

    One year post op

I always feel like the best way to get back on track is to follow a structured plan. Whether it is Weight Watchers, South Beach, Keto, Whole 30.... having the limits established help me stick to the particular plan. Set up a small goal with a planned reward for yourself. Not food! A new book, a trip to the movies, a manicure or a new nail polish. Failing to plan is planning to fail. Good luck! You can do it!
  7. I do have this problem. I made pork tenderloin over the weekend, had leftovers for lunch Monday and had no problem then bam - last night it quickly gave me nausea and my sleeve kinda 'clamped down' and refused to take in more than several bites. Not sure what's going on, but no, you're not alone in this.

    Chest pain

If it only happens when you're drinking you need to slow down and make sure you're not swallowing air. Place the liquid in your mouth and slowly exhale, then swallow. If you're not drinking when it happens - go to the ER! You might be having a heart attack

    Gah! I think I’m sick!

This didn't happen to me but I am a surgical nurse. I wouldn't worry about it just yet. You can go ahead and talk to your surgeon about it but ultimately your anesthesiologist will decided whether or not your lungs are in good condition for general anesthesia. I hope it clears up soon! When is your surgery?
  10. 800 of Motrin is a pretty big dose and it definitely is a possibility that you have an ulcer. For how long and how often were you taking the Motrin? Was it one dose of Motrin or several? Did you take Prevacid or another medication to protect your sleeve with it?
  11. Sleever here. Hunger disappeared for 6 months and then it came back. Like at 6 months, 1 day. For several weeks I was haunted with a rebound hunger monster that I really struggled to get under control. I bought some Slimquick - which I consider mild as far as appetite suppressants go. Took that for about 6 weeks until I felt like I had the necessary self control not to graze in the afternoons and evenings. I don't take it anymore, but I keep it handy in case the stresses of everyday life get too much and the monster wants to come out again. It's too bad, I would have happily gone the rest of my life without ever feeling hungry again.

It's entirely possible! I started out a size 18 and my goal was to get to size 8. I just bought a pair of size 4 capris and need belts to hold up my size 6s!

Ten month before and after pics

My vote is to save your money! There are so many other ways to use it to enjoy life beyond taking care of the extra skin. Take a once in a lifetime vacation instead!
  21. No surgery has a zero percent complication rate. It is simply not accurate to say "not dangerous at all". When I was making my decision I did a lot of research and according to medical journals gastric bypass has a 21% complication rate and sleeve gastrectomy has 13%. That includes both major and minor complications. @100away - yes there are risks. But there are benefits too. You need to sit down with a surgeon and get all your questions answered from a medical professional's expertise, not just ours. You need to weigh the risks and benefits of surgery versus the risks of living long term with GERD, ulcers, and obesity. Because as much as you may be scared of bypass being dangerous - so are those things. GERD can increase your chances of esophageal cancer. Obesity leads to diabetes and heart disease. It's a big decision to be made and you are doing the right thing by asking questions and getting advice before jumping right in without considering the risks.

To tell or not to tell

I didn't make it "Facebook public" but I haven't kept it a secret either. I've been very lucky I guess in that I haven't gotten any judgmental comments, only questions and congratulations.

    Waiting

I was approved right away but had to wait another 2 months for my surgery.

    Excessive regain?

I think going to a counselor of some kind could be greatly beneficial to you. Both to address your grief and any possible eating disorders you might have. I'm so sorry for the loss of your son.
