Need recommendations for vitamins/supplements to take while awaiting surgery in a couple months
KCgirl061 replied to KarenLR75's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Preop I took Flintstones just to get in the habit of taking a multivitamin. I was also taking a very basic calcium and biotin supplement. Find a good biotin shampoo as well as a dry shampoo for your hair. I use the dry shampoo to get me in-between washings, as it seemed like when I washed my hair I would lose more of it so I tried to go longer between washing. The dry shampoo also helps give it more volume. As far as I know no one has found the solution to the hair loss thing. I'm sure a lot of people like Bariatic Advantage and Bariatric Fusion for their multivitamins but my preference are the one a day options like ProCare Now and I just recently ordered BariatricPal One. I take the multi at night right before bed because of the nausea it causes and then I take my calcium chews at breakfast, lunch, and with my afternoon snack or dinner. -
rice cakes and PB2 make a wonderful sweet treat

I keep a bag of Quest chips in the panty - they are expensive so they are my "emergency only" chips.

I remember seeing a lot of postop regret for people in the first several weeks after surgery. But ultimately when you get used to this new way of eating and see the changes for the better happening in your health that feeling of regret should go away.

Here are some of my Good Better Bests, what are yours?? Bad - Having a whole candy bar Good - Having a single Hershey's miniature Better - Having a chocolate protein bar Best - Having NO chocolate _______________ Bad - spending the evening on the couch Good - cleaning or other projects around the house Better - brisk 45 minute walk around the neighborhood Best - break a sweat with a real cardio workout -
Bad Good Better Best - survey time

I haven't used my air fryer for this yet! I need to try it! -
Oh my! Id have a hard time wanting to return every month if I knew I had to put up with a personality like that! Maybe they need a pit orchestra like at the Oscars when the speeches get too long winded! But more likely the NP needs to discreetly talk to her.

Insurance usually has their own set of requirements. Usually 3-6 months of medically supervised weight loss. Then its up to your surgeon on when to fit you into their schedule. Once I completed my supervised weight loss and was submitted to insurance I still had to wait 2 months to get on the schedule.

Sorry hun, I'm just a little confused. You said you had your surgery 2 months ago but list the date as April 21? I'm guessing you meant March 21? Either way, stalls can be normal. Make sure you are tracking your protein and calorie intake. You are still early in your journey and this takes time. You still have months to go in your honeymoon phase so at this point I wouldn't stress the stall.

I would try to get it done between the Europe trip and Hawaii trip. That way you can enjoy those once in a lifetime food options in Italy, but then you start to lose weight and get skinnier by the time you're in swimwear in paradise!

Is Weight Loss Surgery for Me?
KCgirl061 replied to gch81kb's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well we're all a little biased here, most of us would say YES GO FOR IT! Do a lot of research on your own. You need to make this decision for you, you cant rely on us or your mom who I'm sure has your best interest in mind but is likely focusing on nothing but horror stories and ignoring the overwhelming success stories. My advice is to browse forums and support groups like this one and get an idea of peoples' real life struggles. But Look up MEDICAL JOURNALS for information about complication rates. Don't go off what a handful of people's perceptions and opinions are regarding which surgery is right for you. I'm very happy I had my sleeve done. There are frustrating times, when I'm eating something so yummy I want to pig out and can't! I miss soft buttery bread but know that's not in my best interest to include in my meals. I've developed lactose intolerance and have keep lactaid handy anytime I want yogurt, cheese, or a protein bar. But these nuisances are nothing compared to the hassles being overweight was. -
Congratulations on your news! Sorry I don't have any advice, youll have to ask your OB and nutritionist about that!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I'd be sure to mention it in followup like nenes78 suggests. Hospitals often rely on patient satisfaction surveys and you saying something can make a difference for future WLS patients there.

I thought that too. I started treating myself to once a week, then it was twice a week, now its back to everyday. If you want to permanently kick the habit now is just as good a time as any to do it.

Hey Brandy! It sounds like youre doing great. I wouldn't worry about stalls this early out. Almost everyone hits them at this stage and its a normal part of your body just trying to figure things out. So no need to change up what youre eating. Ricotta bake is a great option if youre craving pizza! Check out Pinterest for recipes.

Is it normal at 10 mos out to be able to eat more?
KCgirl061 replied to Kris77's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah I'm 9 months out and experiencing that too. I have to pay a lot more attention to my portion sizes and my full signals. I can graze like nobody's business. -
Youre brave. I've never had the guts to try spinning. I like Zumba and other dance type classes. Even though I have no rhythm and look like a fool its still fun and makes me sweat it up.
-
I agree! I would like this as well! I only make orders every 3 months once I built up points and have a large enough order for the free shipping!
-
Yes that was me postop. Can you treat yourself to a once a week light roast decaf and protein drink for creamer?
-
This seems odd to me. Even with loose skin in those areas your labia should be protecting your urethra from excess bacteria accumulating. It might be time to see a urologist if you haven't already.

Is there a rule about having drinks out during class? I wouldnt think it would be a big deal. Hydration is so important, I would just do it. I’m a surgery nurse and policies say no drinks in the OR and besides that I’m wearing a mask covering my mouth all day! I almost NEVER hit my hydration goal.

Redefining ‘cheat’
KCgirl061 replied to BrighterSide's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You handled it well. The important thing is that you didn’t throw your whole day out because you had the crisps. Because then you’ll end up throowing out the next day and then it’s just “I’ll start again on Monday...” -
I think this is a common sentiment. I’ve seen it a lot anyway. It’s probably the number one “regret” I see on support groups and forums. As I was concidering the surgery and asking myself “do I really need to do this now? I don’t weigh that much.” But seeing comments like that helped push me to say “yeah why not” youre doing great! Keep up the good work!
