    VITAMINS AFTER GASTRIC SLEEVE?????

Nope, my surgeon just feels like there is enough reserves during that time that its not necessary and that healing of the stomach is more important. You hear how those multivitamins can make you sick to your stomach? He doesn't want that happening early on so he has his patients wait.

    Help! Thighs are dying!

My friend is a runner and takes something from GNC to help her muscles recover after long runs. It might be those map pills... I don't quite remember, but if you went to GNC or a similar store you could get some guidance there. For dealing with the inflammation in your body, you could combat that with CBD oil. It is great for reducing inflammation and I use it for just that - keeping my sore, aching back from screaming for ibuprofen which I used to pop like tic tacs before my surgery. You simply may not be getting in enough calories to be exercising that intensely. I think this is an unpopular opinion and I may get some push back on here but I buy into Dr Duc Vuong's theory about why you should NOT exercise for 6 months after surgery. After trying to exercise early out post op and being too exhausted to function at work I gave it up. When I later came across Dr Vuong's video about exercising it made a lot of sense to me:

Who the heck is this woman?

Go YOU! Hopefully after some time to adjust they'll appreciate and respect the new you and there won't be a strain on those relationships anymore!
  4. You absolutely did it the right way though. Youre tracking your food intake, you made sure your protein was in, you limited your snack. Don't be so hard on yourself. It is okay to treat yourself without feeling guilty about it!
  5. It sounds like he was doing something really sweet buying you a dress and you were a total brat about it. Both in that you were too good for a Walmart dress and then you somehow blame him for not finding one to your liking: "If he would of let me do it myself I may have been able to go to my boys graduation" or that he expected you to dress up to go to a graduation ceremony? Have you been to a graduation before? Of course he expected you to dress up. Vent all you want but in my opinion he didn't do a damn thing wrong.

    VITAMINS!!!???

I started out taking ProCare Now bariatric vitamins. They are one a day and I felt very affordable at $11 or less (if bought in bulk). I recently switched to Bariatric Pal One and bought them in bulk at $9 a month. Both vitamins meet ASMBS requirements and are taken only ONCE daily which is a huge perk for me.

    Confused

My surgeon tells me that the first 6 months is the biggest time you're at risk for developing a leak but that after that you're pretty much healed and its not a risk unless you eat something really crazy and swallow it whole. You're pretty close to that so you're safer now than if you'd have done this 3 months ago. Eating and drinking at the same time allows food to push through the sleeve faster, not leaving you full as long and then you find yourself eating more, but not necessarily stretching your sleeve. It could be that when you were on your cruise you were eating more slider foods that you could easily fit in. Then when you came back and was eating more wholesome food you were out of practice and either ate it too fast or didn't chew it well enough and it caused pain because you overfilled your sleeve. When I do that it helps to put a warm compress on my tummy and walking around to try to get the digestive system going.
  8. It does. But I never in my life swallowed gum and while I repeatedly tell my husband that he still insists that I don't chew it. Sometimes I'll sneak some for a short time just to freshen my breath anyway.

    Protein

well no... but I can't imagine any reason why you couldn't. I've heard of people mixing it up with some water and taking a protein "shot".
  10. I don't know that there is enough of a difference to worry about it. Both are for very low calorie dieting before surgery. My surgeon had me on Optifast. A lot of surgeons dont mandate a specific shake anyway. Roasting veggies are my favorite way to eat them. I spray a light oil and season them with Season All and throw them in the oven at 400 deg F until they start to char slightly.
  11. I think it's great that you're preparing ahead of time! There are other media types where you can find information as well like YouTube and Podcasts. I watched a lot of Dr Matthew Weiner videos on YouTube and enjoyed them quite a bit. He also has a book called A Pound of Cure which I haven't read. I'm just now looking at Podcasts to listen to so I can't recommend any. If you are looking for meal ideas on the different post op eating phases Pinterest would be a great place to look. Good luck on your journey!

    Iron vitamins

You may need to talk to your doctor about IV iron infusions. I take the Bariatric Pal One with 45mg of iron. It does cause nausea if I eat it on an empty stomach but if I take it with a small snack right before bed it doesn't bother me.
  13. My understanding is because if it is swallowed because it isn't digested in the stomach and the narrowing of the opening between the sleeve and intestines is so narrow that it could get stuck and cause problems.
  14. Thank you, and I'm sorry - I certainly don't mean to offend you or anyone else. I forget that I'm a bit of an outlier myself on the other end of the spectrum (having lost nearly 94% of my excessive body weight) and that others have had to work harder than I've had to to lose their weight.

When did your weight loss slow down?

I was losing 10 pounds a month pretty steady until about 8 months out. Now I'm still losing but at a much slower rate.
  16. The first couple months are really tough! There is a lot of immediate post op regret "why did I do this" but IT DOES GET BETTER. The ease of eating will come. The progression to real food will come. Control of your hunger will come. We've been through it and we're here for you. You'll get through this!
  17. Be sure to use an app to track to track your food intake. These numbers that you list aren't adding up. 65 carbs and lets say 100 protein with zero fat and zero sugar just doesn't add up to 1200 to 1500 calories. So its important that you are tracking your calories and those macros.
  18. This baffles me, how do you keep it so low? Are you doing Keto?
  19. My husband and I have been discussing the same thing. I'm at a 22 BMI right now and have approximately 15 pounds yet to lose before worrying that I am underweight. But my husband considers me underweight already and wants me to stop losing. But I'm not sure how to make it stop. Doesn't the weight come off during the honeymoon phase no matter what we eat? Thats how people get into the trap of "I lost all this weight after surgery eating XYZ so I must be doing something right" Right now I don't always track my food but when I do I end up around 1000-1100 calories. I'm perfectly happy to sit and wait for the 10-15 pound bounce back. That will put me right back at my goal weight.

    weird question

I’m surprised maintaining the lie to your best friend took a priority over the protecting your sleeve and preventing what could be a very serious complication. Return to your diet, watch out for future complications and consider opening up and being honest with your bestie. I get that you don’t want to make her uncomfortable with her own weight but how do you think she’s going to feel when you mysteriously lose all yours?
  21. I was required to lose 5% but can’t remember if it was an insurance requirement or the surgeon’s program.

What to do about the GAS!?

I was struggling with this too and trying beano with no results. Someone suggested it was lactose intolerance and I picked up some Lactaid. That was the culprit. Worth a try!
  23. You're asking HOW you could eat a croissant but the real question is WHY you ate the croissant. You should consider going to a therapist to figure out why you are self sabotaging so soon after your procedure.
