Hello everyone, I'm 11 days post op and today a had a stick of string cheese. I chewed it up very well but obviously it was a mistake. With the blizzard my protein shakes didn't come on time and I had to babysit last minute so I had the cheese. I plan on calling my doctor monday and letting him know. My concern is that I felt no restriction after eating the cheese, I haven't felt restriction regarding my fluids either. I'm worried that my sleeve was botched. Is this possible?? Btw the cheese did not harm me in anyway and I drank lots of water after, I plan on going back to full protein shake the remainder of my week until I can start greek yogurts.

My advice would be to listen to your surgeons but not to be afraid to hear others experiences who have gone through this. Some doctors recommend things, others recommend others. If there's something your surgeon won't budge on, talk to your primary care and keep asking. This surgery is only going to work if you aren't miserable. The head hunger has been strong for me some days, so I'd recommend waiting to go on pinterest for recipes if thats something you do. But mainly, go with the flow. Your surgeon knows what they're doing and you will be in good hands with your nurses. don't be afraid to let them know if you're in pain, nauseous, whatever!! Keep your fluids up! I went to a diner and got some chicken broth from their soup and strained it at home. It was a nice treat one week post op and helped with my fluids. Don't be afraid to take your pain meds, and liquid tylenol is heaven!!! I'd ask them at the hospital for liquid tylenol if your pain isn't excruciating, through the IV it helped my pain tremendously. Make this journey your own and don't be afraid to stand up for yourself! You got this!! Good luck! -

I was in the hospital for 2.5 days. Was so ready for discharge, what a relief to be home! Definite pain the first week but nothing that bad after maybe 3-4 days. I still have an incision in my belly button that hurts a bit when I get up, but nothing unbearable. I believe I could definitely work a desk job right now and probably for the last 2 days. I'm 8 days out. -
Can drink liquids with little to no restriction? 5 days post op
Cam Paige posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone! I am 5 days post op and losing an average of 2 lbs per day! So excited for this but I am a bit nervous because I've been having no trouble with restriction in regards to my water. I don't feel the liquids make me full, it's just I have no hunger whatsoever(except mental, but I know eating can seriously hurt me so luckily the mental hunger has been minimal.) I'm nervous that this means my sleeve is not going to work properly? One of my biggest issues was sugary drinks and soda(my first true love), which I've completely given up and do not plan on going back to EVER. However, I'm worried about eventually drinking coffee again and ultimately that if the liquids don't make me feel full then maybe my sleeve is not small enough. Does anyone else have this problem? Shouldn't my stomach feel full after drinking my fluids/broth? -

How to tell a loved one you plan to get WLS?
Cam Paige replied to AK37's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't told anyone I felt wouldn't be supportive. I am now post op and my on-off boyfriend still does not know, my dad does not know and no one in my extended family knows. I told my closest friends(one friend had the gastric balloon and inspired my journey so that was nice.) Other than that only my brothers and my mom know. I have polycystic ovary syndrome and delayed gastric emptying so when my coworkers ask I plan to tell them I am on hormonal pills and I told them I had reproductive surgery(that really gets people to shut up!) I feel it is no one business until I am ready to tell them. What I do plan on telling my dad eventually is, "I made this decision completely by myself because I was unhappy and unhealthy. I mentioned it to you and you were against the idea so I chose not to tell you. I only wanted people who would completely support me to know, but I did always plan on telling you. I'm sorry if my keeping this from you hurts you but ultimately this is my body and my choice and I would love your support now. This was completely about me and I honestly was not interested in letting anyone talk me out of it" -

YAYY!! Congratulations this is HUGE! Anxiety is totally normal but think of how bad you would feel if you were NOT approved. This is a blessing and you are going to love your new life! I am 5 days post op and so happy with my weight loss (15 lbs since starting weight) and I feel no hunger. Thats coming from a huge binge eater!!! Be prepared for lots of needles and injections while in the hospital, remember everything is to make you healthy. I'm a HUGEEE needle phone and if I can get through that you can get through this! Just keep thinking of how healthy and happy you'll be in a few short months. Good luck, lovely lady! -
Gaining weight and weigh ins
Cam Paige replied to stabb009's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gained before my last weigh in and the lady was quite nasty about it. Then I lost maybe 2 lbs on my liquid diet which I only followed for 2 days and a random nurse weighed me, she didn't even mention it. I think you'll be fine as long as you don't have a history of fatty liver. Just make sure you're trying and definitely only do clear liquids the day before! You'll be fine -
Hello everyone! I was sleeved on the 26th and now I am 2 days post op and feeling good! Today my pain is much more manageable and my incisions don't look all tat bad to me. Very excited for this journey!

Pre Op diet disaster
Cam Paige replied to Cam Paige's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@sleevedin2018 Thank you, I will!! @yandi77 Good luck on your surgery! Just so you know, the liquid tylenol through IV is heavenly, mores than any narcotics I got. -
I am at the low end of the spectrum in terms of BMI. I am really struggling with my pre op diet, it seems that I am having a lot of trouble not cheating. Mostly, I have drank soda and eaten things I immediately regret. I'm less than a week away from surgery and suddenly I'm doubting this procedure which I've worked so hard to get. I put in so much money to get here and put up with so many needles despite my need phobia. I feel completely lost and like maybe I am not cut out for this journey. Both of my parents have been successful but I wonder if I'm prepared to take this step. I thought I was ready but if I can't stop eating then maybe I'm not.

Vaping marijuana problems before surgery? Looking for advice
Cam Paige posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello, I am new here and had a question regarding some new info I just received. I have been open about smoking and even vaping marijuana with my surgeons. Today, at my pre surgical testing the nurse practitioner asked if I smoke and I told her I use marijuana. A few hours later my surgeon's nurse calls me in a panic. Apparently there is a strict no nicotine policy for all patients. It seems my vaping marijuana may be an issue after all. I would've had no problem only smoking or completely stopping this month had I known it could impact my surgery. However, I don't see how vaping weed interferes with a no nicotine policy, I only vape weed! Please can someone tell me if they think my surgeon will cancel my surgery because of this? -

Vaping marijuana problems before surgery? Looking for advice
Cam Paige replied to Cam Paige's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@psyance Do you think it's possible my nurse is unaware you can vape marijuana without vaping nicotine? I know for a fact my vape only has weed in it, but now I'm worried I ruined my opportunity to have this surgery.
