Anyone else having side effects from the pre-op diet? I'm on it 6 days and have come out in a rash on part of my stomach. Bit odd. Wondering if it's the sudden change in food because that's the only change I've made. Anyone else experience similar?? Sent from my Moto G (5) using BariatricPal mobile app

Can I go from a gastric bypass to a Sleeve?
CB31 replied to Lboogie82's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I haven't had my surgery yet; due Jan 12th, but my surgeon told me that the weight loss doesn't always happen straight away. Your body just went through a massive traumatic surgery. It's still adjusting and healing. I bet in another 4 months you'll see a huge difference. Speak to your doctor about your concerns but, honestly, give your body a chance and yourself a break. It'll work [emoji4] Sent from my Moto G (5) using BariatricPal mobile app -
I think that's normal. I did the same, also St. Stephens' Day (boxing day) was my last day so, you know, Christmas and food.. I thought I'd struggle with the sudden food restriction of the pre op diet but actually it's been grand so far! I'm 4 days in and very happy. I do feel hungry sometimes and have cravings (I miss bread soooooo much! Actually been craving toasted cheese sandwiches, something I'd rarely ate anyway. Odd) but the difference between this and every other time I've attempted to diet is that I don't have the option to cheat. If I do I put my surgery in jeopardy. Plus there's a time limit so I know there is an end date. It makes it easier. Here's some things I do that have helped: the only food in my house is food I can have, I try to think of different ways to cook and combine my veggies, spices, protein etc so I'm not eating the same boring thing all the time, and I have alarms set on my phone to go off when I'm to eat. I actually find the alarms the best thing and really helpful. When I'm feeling hungry I can check my alarm and I know how long to wait and, honestly, it makes it easier. I hope this is helpful for you. Best of luck!! Sent from my Moto G (5) using BariatricPal mobile app

A question for those who have lost a lot of weight
CB31 replied to CB31's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That's my fear too. I've been big since birth. I've never been slim, even as a child. But you're right, it's mainly positive changes. That's what to focus on. Thanks Sent from my Moto G (5) using BariatricPal mobile app -
I'm around 350lbs with a very high BMI and due surgery on 12th. My surgeon isn't worried about complications as long as I stick to the preop diet to reduce my liver size. I don't smoke but he has told me he won't do surgery on someone who does. If you can stop it would be amazing but, unless your surgeon says otherwise, you will be fine. At the end of the day they are doing our surgeries and changing our lives. You need to trust them. You'll be fine. Try not to stress and look forward to it. I'm half petrified but so excited I can't explain. I'm going to have a good life with this and stop my family and friends worrying about putting me in an early grave. Sorry for being a bit morbid but it's true lol. Honestly my one dream to come from this is to go to the beach and wear a bikini. That's it. Something I never would have dreamed up until now! Look to the positives x Sent from my Moto G (5) using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi everyone. My first time on this. My surgeon told me about it. I have my surgery scheduled for Jan 12th 2018. I'm excited but also very nervous. It's been a long road to here. Any advice? Dos/don'ts? I'm looking forward to finally getting a handle on my weight. I just want to be healthy. My family are afraid of the surgery but supportive of my decision. How much is my life going to change? I'd love to hear about the good and the bad. Anything any of you could tell me would be really appreciated. Sent from my Moto G (5) using BariatricPal mobile app

Thanks. I'm looking forward to my relationship with food becoming healthier. I'm trying to make changes prior to surgery so it's not a sudden adjustment Sent from my Moto G (5) using BariatricPal mobile app

A question for those who have lost a lot of weight

Thanks. I've tried CBT before and it was very effective. That's the part I'm wary of, getting to know the 'skinny' me if and when I get to it Sent from my Moto G (5) using BariatricPal mobile app -
Jan 12th. Start pre op diet Dec 27th. Think it'll be grand. Very real now though. Nervous about after surgery... Sent from my Moto G (5) using BariatricPal mobile app
