Surgery on 12/28
MissSimpson replied to Brittanyblue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work today. It was ok for the most part. I had to run out of my classroom this afternoon bc I threw up my afternoon snack. Thankfully, my 4th graders are understanding. Bless em! -
First appointment ever (HELP)

I’m sure your doctor will be - that’s what they’re there for - to make you feel better! -
First appointment ever (HELP)
MissSimpson replied to Octobermommy3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just told my doctor that I’d tried losing weight. She knew I had taken pills and lost and gained. Done weight watchers. I asked for a referral to the bariatric surgeon in town. My doc was very understanding about it. She went through everything with me before I talked to the surgeon. Good luck! -
Wow! You look amazing!

Ladies, PCOS, weight loss & B/C
MissSimpson replied to NervouslyExcited's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven’t, but I got my period right after my surgery. It was THE heaviest flow I’d ever had, and lasted over a week, when it’s never been longer than three days. I took my pill several days before my cycle stopped. Are you taking an iron supplement? I know a lot of times heavy periods can deplete iron. Call your doctor if it hasn’t stopped by the end of what should be your next cycle. I wouldn’t worry too much. Major surgery + weight loss can whack up your system! Good luck! -
How do I take a non-chewable multivitamin?
MissSimpson replied to Xerox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you crush it up and put it in applesauce or pudding? Our school nurse does that for kids who won’t/can’t swallow a pill. -
The “no reds” liquid diet is for people about to have a colonoscopy. My mom had just had one when I was getting ready for my liquid diet. I had to ask bc my doc didn’t specify “no reds.”

Girl, I hear you! It’s the worst! I guess I have to learn things the hard way to get it through my thick skull! Glad you’re feeling better! ❤️ -
December 2017 Gastric Bypass!

Maybe try some clear protein waters or sugar free Gatorade? Don’t dehydrate! That would be awful! -
December 2017 Gastric Bypass!

I’m not sure. It may be one of those things that lasts forever. My doctor said it was “negative reinforcement” for eating too fast. Guess I need to learn my lesson! -
1 month out, feel like I'm starting over
MissSimpson replied to genericwlshandle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh thank goodness. I wasn’t told how many calories to have, just to have 60 - 80 g of protein. I started with MyFitnessPal yesterday and I’m getting about 900 cal a day. I was thinking that was too much! -
Mine were ok with gummies. I take Women’s One a Day. I’m having a hard time getting my Effexor (anti-depressant) poll down. It’s a hard swallow. I did get the Biotin Melts from Bariatric Pal. They’re better than a regular vitamin.

You’ll probably appreciate it in the end. Maybe it’s a way to jump start your weight loss!?

December 2017 Gastric Bypass!

Doctor seemed to think it’s eating too fast, too. I’m taking it VERY slowly now and choosing extra soft foods. Doctor called it a “learning curve.” -
December Sleevers - What did you have for lunch today?
MissSimpson replied to timarland's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had about half a cup of lobster crab bisque. Delicious! -
Surprise at Doctor's Today

Score! 🙌🙌🙌 -
My 2 week appointment went well. I got approved for some more soft foods, even though I’m scared to eat them! I don’t want to throw up. Doc said I was probably eating too fast. I went to Newk’s after and had about half a cup of lobster crab bisque. It was DIVINE!

I was also told a year. I probably won’t likeky stick to that, bc I like to have a drink after work. I’m planning on staying away from beer and carbonated mixers, and sugary mixers. That puts me with wine, or a sugar-free water based cocktail, or a Bloody Mary? Idk. Now I want a cocktail. Lol.

My BCBS in Mississippi also required 6 months. I missed a visit and had to start over. After all that, it had been over a year since my psych eval, and I had to do a follow up with the psychiatrist.

Help! How much eating in the purée stage?
MissSimpson replied to cathyj123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My doc didn’t give me a set amount, but did say every 3-4 hours. I can usually get down a pack of tuna (2.6 oz) but it takes a good 30 min. -

Help! How much eating in the purée stage?
MissSimpson replied to cathyj123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m at puréed stage and water goes down fine for me. The food - just depends on what it is. Yogurt goes down way easier than beans or something heavy. You’ll know if you eat too much or too fast. It’ll come right back up! That’s what I’m working with now. -
Talk about a phrase I’m absolutely SICK of hearing...
