Is anyone else tired of talking about it with friends? I feel like I made a mistake telling so many people... I keep getting asked what I can eat now, and do I feel like I have more energy, and my face looks thinner, are my clothes feeling looser?! I mean, the compliments are fine, but I am not used to talking about these things... Also, I'm scared to venture beyond soft foods too much. I also haven't noticed the scale moving much lately... I try to only check once a week. I don't know, I'm just tired of dedicating so much of my life to thinking about food! Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app

Hey all, It's been a while since I've checked in. I'm not in the soft foods phase, reintroducing things slowly, and I had stalled for a while, too. I mean, duh, of course it's easy to lose weight when you're on all liquids, huh? My doctor just reminded me to take advantage of this first year, not rush foods or anything, because this year is key to losing. My NUT said I could go as high as 80 g of protein a day, and it would help burn more. I've been doing less protein shakes and more regular food, too, but I guess it's not time to give up on the shakes just yet... HW: 360 SW: 342 CW: 302 Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app

I go back and forth! I'm starting to introduce foods. So far the only thing it seems I can't tolerate is refried beans. I'm going slow, though. I'm gobbling up yogurt. I don't feel starving, but I do feel hungry often. But I find I can't finish even a small yogurt. But then 30 min later, I feel hungry again... Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app

Sleeved 12/27 - Drinking fine? Restriction?? Worried!!
JukeboxJess replied to Lufifi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I thought it was just me! Lol! I had no problems with liquids, and started with yogurt a few days early... I haven't had any discomfort either, really, except once when I downed broth too quickly. Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app -
Hi all, Thought I'd say hi. Sleeved on 12/18, so I'm on phase 2. I'm scared to introduce too much too quickly. So far, just tried yogurt, applesauce, and SF pudding. Finally got some unflavored protein powder, too! Anyone try it with mashed potatoes? Also, sorry if this is TMI, but I've had nothing but loose stools for the last week or so (after being constipated at first, go figure!) Other than that, I've felt good! VSG right before Christmas. What was I thinking?
JukeboxJess replied to Toomanytacos's topic in Singles Forum
I know that I was focused on having that extra built in time off from work! But yeah, it's not easy, when everyone else is going out and partying... I'm going to try going to a holiday party tonight, where I usually stuff my face and get drunk. I'm just going to try and focus on my friends, and of course bring my own drink. Mmm, flavored water, just what I always wanted... Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app -
Does anyone else here have issues with what I call chewing on your tongue? I used to rely on gum to keep my mouth busy, but I'm now 6 days post-VSG and with all this stress, I'm chewing on my tongue all the time! Besides sucking on ice or popsicles, any other suggestions? Me too! Even though I haven't had any problems (knock on wood), I just am so worried! Irrational, I know. I've been trying to keep busy, too, but all I can think about is food. (Even had dreams about it last night!) Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app

What kind of broth? I use this stuff called "Better than Bullion" that's pretty tasty. I put a lot of water in it, too, so it's not too salty. Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes! I was sleeved on the 18th. I'm taking Benadryl, too. But I naturally react to a lot of stuff, including adhesives... So my IV site is worse. Is your skin yellowing around the incisions, too? I assume it's bruising, but... Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm a few days out, too, and was having the opposite problem, in a way. I was sleeved on 12/18, and wasn't having any problems. Yesterday I started feeling better, and more like doing normal things, ya know? Then I gulped down a bit too much, and I could tell. I didn't throw up, but it was really uncomfortable and I started burping a lot... I think the protein shakes must be slower than anything. Even though protein is important, I've been trying to focus on water. Even if it's in the form of Powerade or whatever... Broth is also helpful, and I love my better than bullion mix! December 2017 Gastric Bypass!
JukeboxJess replied to 823freckles's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had sleeve surgery on the 18th, too. So far so good. No nausea, doing ok with the pain. It does look like I'm bruising on 2 of the incision sites... Not as bad as where they did my IV, though! And I'm starting to get some acid reflux (I guess?) It's not that icky acidic bile - just a little harder when I swallow, ya know? So just trying to stay upright, walk, and drink slowly... The doctor's office told me to lay off the protein shakes until I have a BM. (Also sleeved on the 18th!) But now I'm hungry, still constipated, and frankly scared to [emoji90] because it hurts around my wounds... Has anyone tried using magnesium citrate after surgery? I still have some left from pre-op... Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app
