    May 2008 Slow Losers

I have lost 6 pounds over the last three weeks. I was really bummed because I kept losing/gaining the same 4 pounds for 2 months. I have a few more ounces to go and I will finally reach 50 pounds since the start of this journey. :wink2: Hope everyone has a great 2009!.

    Anyone else eating normal?

I had my fifth fill and I don't think it is my sweet spot yet. I can still eat a whole Lean Cuisine. The problem I have is eating chicken or turkey. I can't seem to chew it enough and boy is it painful. However, if I eat a Lean Cuisine with chicken or turkey it doesn't bother me. I think because their chicken and turkey isn't as dry. The nurse said that they have a lot of patients that have problems with chicken and turkey.

    May 2008 Slow Losers

Hi, I am a slow loser also. I seem to gain and loss 5 pounds. I know one of my big problems is not exercising. One of the things I have noticed is since I have quit taking my diabetes medications and my blood pressure pills, I get plugged up and retain water like crazy. I haven't reached my sweet spot yet. I can still eat more than a cup of food. I was so bummed reading how others have lost so much that I quit coming to this site. Now, I am back and glad to see these postings.

    Anyone else eating normal?

I was having a horrible time with being hungry all the time and being able to eat like normal. I gained back 7 pounds of the weight I had lost. I lost 30 pounds before the surgery and 12 pounds after the surgery. After my 4th fill I finally had some restriction but it didn't happen right away. It was about 2 weeks afterwards. However, it was only certain things that caused problems, pototoes, bread and apples. I lost 3 pounds. I had my 5th fill on Oct. 23rd and have lost another 4 pounds. Right now I am eating less and staying away from anything that hurts. I am hoping that this will be the last fill I will need. I was so bummed for awhile that I quit loggin on this website.

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

My biggest accomplishment has been getting off my blood pressure pills, prilosec and two of my three diabetes medications. The last diabetes medication that I am taking is half the normal dose. My rings are also getting too big.

    Feeling Restriction?

I have only had 1 fill and do not feel any restriction what so ever. I am going in for a second fill on Thursday. I am hoping to get more restriction because it seems like I am always hungry. Right now I can't even tell I have the band. I am going to ask my dr. on Thursday what kind of band and how big it is. Without this web site it never would have occured to me to even ask. You guys are doing great and are such an inspiration.
  8. I am sure glad I am not the only one that doesn't feel any restriction. I could eat anything without a problem. I lost more weight before my surgery, 30 pounds, than I have lost since my surgery. I have gained 5 lbs since my first fill. I go in for another fill next week. I also think the Drs. should be more informative. It is so nice to have this website, otherwise I would think it was only me. Thanks everyone for posting.:biggrin2:
  9. Thanks for the info. I will try it. It is amazing how much being plugged up affects you.
  10. I lost 30 pounds before surgery. Since surgery on May 7th I lost 12 pounds and then gained 5 pounds :smile2:. I had my first fill but I don't really feel any restriction at all. My biggest problem is being plugged up since the surgery. I think I am also at a plateau. Another place to log what you eat is on sparkpeople@com .

    Scheduled for May? What Day?

I lost 30 pounds before my surgery and I have lost 12 pounds since the surgery. I feel great. I had my first fill on Tuesday. The only problem I had was I ate too fast yesterday morning and it came up. I just need to slow down and chew, chew and chew.

    shoulder pain??!!

I had horrible pain in my left shoulder for about 6 weeks. The dr. repaired my hiatal herinia and I was told that my shoulder would hurt from that also, besides the gas they use. Someone on this website told me to lay on the ground with my arm over my head and use a heating pad. It helped a lot. My shoulder is doing good now.

    Diet Soda, Post-Lap Band

I have one FLAT diet soda a day. However, I know I shouldn't. I haven't had a problem. The caffeine is not good either according to my doctor.

    dizzy and light headed

I was banded on May 7th. I was extremely dizzy after 4 days. It turned out to be my blood pressure was real low. They had me stop my blood pressure pills and what a difference. Surgery takes a toll on you. Everyones suggestions are good. I love this website.

    Anyone else eating normal?

I was banded on the 7th of May. I have a protein shake in the morning and usually yogurt for my two snacks. I have been eating Lean Cuisines for lunch. I went out to dinner for my birthday and had about a 1/3 of a hamburger and that was it. I can't say I get full but I am not hungry. I have started losing weight now that I am getting around 1000 calories in. When I was only eating 500 to 600 calories I didn't lose any weight. I was bummed.

    Scheduled for May? What Day?

Hi Deb, I got mine at http://www.tickerfactory.com . They have lots of different tickers. Hope this helps. Patti
  17. Thanks C.N. for the tips. I will try that when I get home. I haven't tried the heating pad either. The dr. warned me that people who have the hiatal hernia repair has pain in their left shoulder. I just didn't think it would hang in there like it has. This site is great, because you do find other people who have the same issues and successes.
  18. I am 4 weeks out and the shoulder pain has been really bad lately. It seems to be very constant. It doesn't just happen when I am hungry or ate too much. The last week has been the worst. Hope it gets better soon.
  19. I was banded on May 7th. I have shoulder pain, but the dr. said I would get it because of the hiatal hernia repair. I can't say it is because I ate too much or because I was hungry. It just aches.

    Maybe gas? Dizziness?

I was dizzy after I was banded. It turned out that my blood pressure was too low. I quit taking my blood pressure pills and I was fine. I also have pain in my left shoulder but not in my back.
  21. I was banded on May 7th. I gained 5 pounds the first 8 days after my surgery. I think it was because I wasn't having any BM's. I have since lost the 5 pounds. It seems like I loose weight more when my calories are around 800 to 1000. When I just get in 500 calories I don't seem to lose weight.
  22. I was banded on May 7th. No more prilosec No more blood pressure pills Quit 2 medicines for diabetes and only taking 1 1000 tablet of Metformin. Need to have my blood tested to see how the cholestral is doing.:rolleyes2:
  23. Yeah, I have been taking fiber choice and getting in about 6,000 to 7,000 steps a day. I do feel better the more I walk. Thanks for the suggestions.
  24. Wow, congrats to those of you who have lost weight!! I am 13 days out and gained 4 pounds. :tt2: I am only getting in about 850 calories but still gaining. I think my big problem is being constipated (can't believe I am talking about that).
  25. I had my HH fixed also. I think I am happier about having it fixed than I am about the band. I haven't once had any reflux or other problems I used to have before my surgery. I no longer have to take Prilosec. My doctor had me do an upper GI before the surgery and knew I had the HH. I went into the surgery knowing they were going to repair it.
