I've had the same issue with really rich ice cream. It happens immediately though. No bathroom issues just an absolute terrible feeling with nausea. Passes in about 30 mins. Only kiddie sizes for me now and I'm very cautious.

Weirdest coments you've gotten since WLS
Losebig replied to TakingABreak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've gotten a lot of "don't lose anymore weight"... as if I could actually stop right now. One person also took me aside and quietly asked if everything was all right and if I'd been sick. -
I confess....2018
Losebig replied to TakingABreak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Kind of an odd one and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. If I watch people eat it kind of disgusts me. It's usually if it's like sloppy eating with lots of big bites. Never even noticed it before and no it annoys / disgusts me. Spent a week with a friend and she eats constantly, eats everything and takes really big bites... wanted to kill her by the end. A more typical one is I sometimes have days when I just don't care and kind of am 'off'. I always track, but on those days the physical limitation of what I can eat saves me.. -
Amazing!

I really dislike artificial sweeteners. I just use normal sugar in moderation post surgery. I don’t really eat or drink much sweet stuff though....

Keep up the good work. The scale is just an indicator, as long as you keep up the routine you don’t even really need to weigh yourself.

I recently had a tough few weeks. I was eating more carbs and snacking at night and doubled my calories. To get back in control I just took it a day at a time and tried to see patterns that hurt me. For example at night my snacks were yogurt and cheese, things that leave room for more snacking. I switched to 2-3 ounces of deli turkey and now I’m too full to eat more. Same with meals, if you start with 3 or so ounces of dense protein it’s really tough to eat much else. I also ramped up the exercise a lot by taking up jogging and some longer bike rides. some guidance / rules from my program: eat protein first, then veggies and few or no carbs. For snacks only have protein, if protein doesn’t sound good then it’s just head hunger, no drinking within 30 mins of eating, get 60+ grams of protein a day and 64 oz water, only have lean protein and track everything. Stalls are super common and expected.

You could do delivery or pickup of groceries. Almost every store near me offers free pickup even Walmart. That way you never even go in the store and order food on the app or website. I also end up eating the same things so my shopping never gets creative and I never even go on aisles that are bad (I.e.) the chip aisle. Ypu could also have someone else do the shopping if you live with someone.

Glad you caught it and hopefully it will resolve quickly

When did you begin exercising after surgery?
Losebig replied to baribetty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I walked a lot immediately. It was about a week to ten days before I did more strenuous outdoor walking. At 6 weeks I started more intensive exercise -
Regarding Vitamin Pills
Losebig replied to apositivelife4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Here's what my nutritionist puts us on: centrum complete multi vitamin chewable 2x daily vitamin d b12 daily or weekly calcium bari melts 2 3x daily (at least 2 hours apart and 2 hours from multi) others as needed based on monthly blood work (I did prescription d and an a vitamin for a while). I also add in biotin because my nails were breaking and it helped. -
I have noticed this as well, I think at my largest I was a 3xl, but wore 2xl in brands that were over sized. Now downsizing I'm finding in each size range that I can get two sizes out of it (big xl and smaller xl) for example. It seems like clothing is more uniform at L and below for men at least.

Thrift stores are a good idea, maybe that will be a way to get decent stuff without spending a ton

I did that as well, but recently hit the end of my clothes stock pile. A Taylor is a good idea for suits, I'm on my last one there, but it hasn't been taken in so that may give it new life.

Might be cancelling Surgery. Given the choice would you do it again?
Losebig replied to Chickensoup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Would do it again 100%. I've escaped my prison of fat and feel awesome and can do so much more. Wish I had done it sooner. -
I have a lot of business meals. The first thing I noticed is people don’t pay all that much attention to what you eat or how much. I may say something like I’m on a strict diet with a nutritionist. If it’s someone who knows how much I have lost I may talk more about limited calories and no carb.

I have metal allergies (chromium and nickel) and they are severe. So had this discussion with my surgeon, one of the reasons titanium is used is that it’s not something many (anyone?) is allergic to and it’s not magnetic (you can get a mri with them). Worth a conversation with the dr, but not typically a big concern

20 weeks and 4 days post op -I'm a turtle but I'm happy!
Losebig replied to Toomanytacos's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Making great progress, huge difference when looking at the pics. Doesn’t matter how quick you get there, just that you do eventually -
I eat egg beaters (1/2 cup) with s little bit of cheese for breakfast almost every day. Sometimes I’ll cut up deli turkey very small and put that in too, or peppers and Mexican cheese. Greek yogurt is another good go to. It may not be soft enough, but turkey sausage links are good protein too. Regular eggs are always a good option with toast (if your not low carb) or cheese.

I never did a good funeral, but many folks do. It’s common since you know you can’t eat a lot of foods for a while. Just don’t overdo it and get it out of the way we’ll before the pre op diet if you can, otherwise it makes it that much harder.

Love the veggie tray idea! I find that snack foods like chips etc just don’t fill you up (they’re slider foods). I find keeping to a meal schedule and making the meal very filling (protein) helps a lot because even if I have head hunger I can’t eat another bite

Flown a fair bit since surgery, so far no issues. Those body scanners are low energy so should not penetrate skin... but who knows mayb they can turn them up or something.

off program and gained back 21 pounds
Losebig replied to msjg46's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hard to do, but remember you are choosing to gain weight back. You may not realize it, but everything you put in your mouth is a choice. You didn't sit down one day and say I want to gain weight, but every time you take a bite of the wrong stuff or too much you choose to do that. Nothing is easy about it, otherwise none of us would be here. I find the first thing to do to get back on track is to be accountable. Track every single bite, count calories and then it will likely be very obvious what needs to change. Unfortunately it's harder once you're out a while from the sleeve and it's more like a regular diet. I'm personally going through this now and being accountable has helped me get back to where I should be in terms of eating. Don't give up. It's a life long battle and you haven't lost -
80 pounds down at today’s weigh in!
Losebig replied to Seahawks Fan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Awesome work! Sounds like you are really working hard and seeing good results! -
It’s natural to be a bit down after the surgery. After all many of us use food to workout other issues, whether it be stress, control, feeling good or something else... We all lost that tool when we got the surgery and now have to find other (and healthier) coping mechanisms. If control is your thing then take control of your eating and focus on sticking to the plan 100%. Its hard to cheat now, but soon you will be able to and you’ll need control not to. Once the weight starts coming off and you start feeling better you might find you really like the new you. I know for me I hit a point here I went from semi sad about losing the joy food brought me to the realization that I would happily trade it again for my new chance at health and mobiity.
