Doesn't sound like fun. I'd also take a look at anything you're eating that could have a laxative effect. For example sugar alcohol is in a bunch of sugar free and bariatric stuff (especially calcium supplements) and that can cause that. Hope you get it figured out, I think some kind of pad or diaper is a good idea until you get it figured out, that way it is just annoying VS a catastrophe if you're at work.

You'll be up doing laps in no time :-).

Sock colors aren't universal, but are pretty common. Usually a very bright color means fall risk (orange at my hospital) and a more normal color (blue in my case) means you're ok to walk on your own. Hope surgery went well!

Congrats, every day should get easier. How did everyone else do?

Hmm now I want to try some salmon :-). Sounds like it was good!

I had hunger at first, but it faded after a couple weeks. Hang in there, if you eat the wrong thing you'll be in serious pain and very unhappy (I found out the hard way when advancing stages and not taking it slow)
-
I'll confess, I'm on Soft foods, but have had a few things like nuts and seeds that are more advanced... I am very careful to chew at least 25 times and haven't had issues. Protein is limited to 3 to 5 ounces depending on what it is and how quick I eat. I'm surprised you got 6 in. Some programs go to regular food almost immediately so I do think it's hard to cause damage, but better safe than sorry.

Definitely get it checked out, sounds like some kind of infection (thrush, strep throat, something else?). Not worth it to wait the weekend, it could get much worse quickly. If you go to urgent care make sure to tell them about the surgery, it's possible the surgery introduced something that would be less common. Feel better

Take it slow, when I started eggs were too tough. I ended up doing lentil soup, which was good and very liquid. I did do some purée chicken (puréed chicken and some light mayo dressing). My purée stage was 2 weeks, so I didn't get too creative and mostly did shakes or soup and at the end yogurt. Soft foods is a much more fulfilling stage.

How many days until that stall people keep talking about
Losebig replied to Toomanytacos's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was on 12/12 and my third week didn't lose weight, but I'm pretty sure it is due to hydration. I'm sure there will be other weeks where nothing happens too. Good advice on weighing yourself, that's what I do as well. -
Rash on forehead and hands after surgery?
Losebig replied to wadeswife's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, similar type of rash, but it Was on my arm and down my side. I think it was a Keto rash, it stopped getting worse and is now healing, but was pretty itchy and annoying for a couple of days. Is your tongue white? That's common too with Ketosis. -
My program allowed it until a few days before surgery. Then none at all until 4 weeks after surgery (the tannins and acid in it can cause issues with healing). I didn't want a caffeine headache with everything else so slowly stopped in the couple weeks leading up to surgery.

Good luck everyone! I'd recommend earplugs (couple pairs in case you lose them) and an eye mask. You never know who your roommate is and you'll appreciate the ability to sleep... My nurses were even to do regular meds without waking me, which was awesome! Sure you will all do great.

Getting Sick During Early Post-Op
Losebig replied to Taylor5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes definitely contact the DR's office. It's probably nothing, but could also be something serious. Hopefully the cold isn't too bad, I didn't personally have that happen, but know folks who have. They had no long term issues... But you don't want it to get really bad and have coughing fits etc. Hope you feel better soon -
Urgent Question - Ahem... (TMI Alert)
Losebig replied to Engelyn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ask your doctor, but yes most likely. Some programs have folks do a colon cleanse like routine the day before. -
I'll be 4 weeks out Tuesday and expect I'll be down 23-25 lbs. I lost the vast majority the first 2 weeks, now the scale is moving gain. They said around 15 lbs a month at first is typical (3-4 lbs per week) then it slows and can often be lumpy with no weight lost then a bunch coming off. I'm following the diet, though having more carbs than I'm suppossed too, but calories are 600-1,000 a day. I'm getting quite a bit of exercise as well. Water weight can change so rapidly that it's tough to tell what's really going on in a given week. Measurements can help you see difference that the scale doesn't. In one of my flat weeks I re measured and had lost about 3" on my waist, chest, belly, and a bit less on my thigh and biceps.

Should mention I take 2 centrum chewables per day. They were ok with any complete multivitamin
-
Awesome great work everyone! I was able to fit into some very expensive ski pants I bought 5 years ago, but never wore because they were too small. Now they're big!
-
My program has you take a bunch in year 1 then claims a regular multivitamin a day is fine after that. For gastric bypass there is a more intense lifelong regimine due to the mal absorption.

Severe pain for me and very bad nausea

Yes, in most places it's phase 1 of anesthesia and usually given as you leave pre op for the OR. In my case it made me a bit fuzzy, but that was it.

Buddies Group - Surgery Dec 4 to 15, 2017

Yes. Warm beverages are far easier for me and water with lemon is a bit better than plain water (I use true lemon powder). -
Buddies Group - Surgery Dec 4 to 15, 2017

I get very dizzy sometimes when standing up quickly, especially if I'm doing it a bunch. As posted it is probably low blood pressure, mine was normal pre-surgery, but has been dropping to the low end of normal at the DR's. Drinking electrolytes does seem to make it less frequent for some reason (or maybe its just staying hydrated). Tiredness has been weird for me. I've been able to do a lot of physical activity that would have been hard or painful before and I feel like I can do it better / getting less tired doing it (mostly because there's 30 lbs less I'm lugging around). On the flip side I do generally feel very tired and would love to sleep all day... so I feel tired, but have more stamina if that makes sense. -
I did something similar and did an ultra low calorie diet for a month. I did lose weight, but couldn't stick to it. The deal I made with myself was I would give it one last shot. I didn't want to do surgery and thought it was too extreme. Ultimately for me it was a choice of inevitably developing health issues and being too fat for my favorite activities or playing with my kids that drove me to it. Now I'm happy I did it, but there were definitely risks and I spent a long time evaluating them. Hopefully you are wildly successful and never revisit it, but if you do you may be able to do a personalized assessment with your surgeon.
