You probably just aren't too swollen so it goes right through. Once healed up you can drink like that if you take frequent small sips. The restriction really comes into play with soft foods and solids, even puréed will slide right through. Count yourself lucky to be healing so quickly!

Very low carb. My plan adds them back in 6 - 12 months out. I'm on it because that's what they use in my program and they have had great results, so I want to emulate those. Practically speaking I'm hitting 90 - 100g of protein a day, given how little I can eat there really isn't any room for carbs in my daily diet. As things normalize it'll get more balanced, but by that time I hopefully will have lost most of the weight and hopefully will have preserved a good amount of muscle mass.

Yes, Tylenol and Benadryl are fine. The pills could be too large, but you can cut them in half or smaller. Just Benadryl pills are tiny for sleep and would work too or liquids as mentioned. I think they can also be crushed, but probably taste pretty terrible.

Definitely get it checked out. They gave me some IV nutrition and fluids. My program requires us to have one electrolyte drink a day (12 oz), I'm doing 20 oz of Powerade zero because I feel weird otherwise. The first few weeks I felt a noticeable difference after drinking it, so I had it first thing in the morning daily.

I think calling folks whiners isn't particularly fair. Often folks post on here with things they struggle with, so you'll see more of that than posts saying "everything is great". You can see the rate of complications is very small looking at the statistics (a few percent or less for most things). The challenges are individual and real though, some people feel hunger, many don't, some people struggle with losing, others don't. I personally had a terrible first 2 weeks (I was one of the lucky couple of percent with a major - though luckily temporary complication), but even with that I wouldn't change a thing!

Different doctors different stages of diet
Losebig replied to camopink27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is still an evolving field, So different programs use different best practices and data. Some have very restrictive post surgery diets and others don't. Generally the purpose post op is to give you time to heal and minimize complications. Many programs also track their own data, so if they find one approach gives better results (more loss, fewer complications) then they will tweak their recommendations. You can ask a program about their statistics, which is enlightening. For example my specific program sees better than national averages in terms of loss from the sleeve, but really limits carbs VS others. -
Congrats on making a huge positive life changing decision. Your timeline will be dictated by your insurance (you can probably find their requirements on their website or via a call). If they don't require a supervised diet the time line is usually a couple months at best (you'll still have a bunch of requirements for pre tests, classes etc via your surgery program). If there's a supervised diet then that will be the long pole and determine timing. Be aware you can shop around for surgeons, so get one you're very comfortable with and ask the tough questions. Data shows surgeons who do over 300 (or 400?) surgeries a year have the lowest complication rates. You can read about different programs online to get a sense of what to look for. This site is a great resource with people at all stages.

It depends if it's gas inside or outside of your stomach / intestines. Gas X will help with intestinal gas, if it's more surgery gas then the pain will be in the shoulders and walking and a heating pad will help too.

You may be drinking too fast or too much. Try a tiny amount and see if that helps. I wasn't hitting fluid goals until about 2 weeks out and had to thin protein shakes with water because they'd get stuck. It does get better and at this stage it's relatively normal.

Not that specifically, but I did have an episode of SVT, either caused by a pain issue or electrolytes or the combination of both. Make sure you're getting electrolytes in (I do 1 20 oz electrolyte drink a day). That might help normalize things a little bit.

Can try to drink something warm and gas-X will help get stuff moving. Walking may help too

Keeping breakfast interesting
Losebig replied to Octalmist21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I usually eat an egg white omelette, but keep it interesting by changing what's in it. Sausage and cheese are my go to's, but you can put all kinds of stuff in it. Turkey or ham are good, peppers or other veggies. Otherwise Chobani Greek yogurt is quick and easy and comes in a lot of flavors. -
Favorite Snack Hacks for the sweet and salty
Losebig replied to Humble17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Some good ideas. For sweet hard candy works or a small piece of chocolate. For salty I've been eating cashews. The key is to control the portion, so I pre-portion them in 1 oz portions in little baggies. -
No reason to slow down unless your surgeon or nutritionist feels like there's a nutrition problem. You've got a window in which it's a bit easier, so take maximum advantage of it. Sounds like you're doing amazing!

I'm 5 weeks out from a sleeve and eating around 1100 a day, though almost no carbs. Do you have anything hormonal going on? How long have you been at that calorie level? Water weight fluctuation can hide the weight loss over a couple weeks. The surgery offers restriction, but also helps eliminate hunger temporarily.

Are you getting a hernia repair or gal bladder out? If so talk about that and then people still know you had a surgery, but not all the details. A hiatal hernia repair also has some of the same dietary restrictions as the bypass or sleeve.

4 Weeks post op - I don’t want to do this anymore [emoji25][emoji25][emoji25]
Losebig replied to Brandi.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Awesome! Glad they were able to do something -
Weight loss greatly improves it, so the surgery should help in that department. My wife has it and lost 60 lbs (no surgery) and it has pretty much gone away.
-
Wohoo! Hope the transition home goes well.
-
Probably 4-6 weeks for anything core, otherwise you risk a hernia.

Dissolvable Zofran is a life saver!

You might notice your tongue is white as well. It's also a side effect.

Great idea on Indian food, I'll have to try some!
-
Nice! Now the hard part is done, the surgery will be easy compared to that process!
-
That's good news! Hopefully with doing less the pain will go away.
