At the beginning of the year 1/3/2018, I was sleeved my twins were 19 monthsin Mexico and went alone while my husband watched the twins. Mine were and still are breastfed. At the hospital I pumped and dumped. Our doctor had a 25 lb weight restriction for a month. My recovery wasn’t that bad and as soon as I got home of course they were crawling all over me. Unfortunately, I had no downtime when I returned home plus my husband was exhausted from taking care of them. I didn’t need any pain meds 3 days after surgery. As a mom you never get a break. My husband saw my progress and was sleeved 2/17/2018. He was the biggest baby and was in so much pain. He apologized to me because he couldn’t believe all the stuff I did with the twins when I got back. My husband was on pain meds up until a week or so after surgery. He struggled and couldn’t handle them jumping on him. Everyone’s relationship and recovery is different. You have to do what’s best for you, Me: 26w to 20w him: 42 to 36

I’m so sorry sweetie! That was an awful experience. I almost used them and after reading on their website medical supplies I needed to bring (bandages and etc). They also come to the US for conferences and have great turnout from prior patients. But, I changed to a real hospital. I went through hospital Guadalajara and used Trinity Medical. Dr. Pasten was amazing and he met me before surgery. I choose them because I never had to stay at a hotel and was able to leave on the 3rd day. I was picked up by my coordinator and his wife. We were on the 3rd floor of the hospital in the bariatric wing. The janitor was cleaning everyday. The nurses stayed on top of our meds and they would bring ice chips anytime we hit call button. During the day nurses spoke English and at night it was limited but an interpreter stayed in the lobby all night. At least you are home and have no complications! -
Mexico? All the Basics Please: Success and Problem Stories, etc.

You should be fine. I flew into San Diego on Wednesday morning and had surgery that afternoon. I flew home on the 3rd day (Friday afternoon). At hospital Guadalajara they stayed on top of the pain meds. I never had to ask. They also gave me stockings to ensure no blood clots. I came home to toddlers and did not need to take any meds for pain. You will not need a wheel chair. Just pack light and take it easy! -

I feel my restriction only with meat. I understand why everyone says to eat protein first! I have no problems with fluids or crackers. -
What to Bring to the Hospital

I brought a lightweight robe. It made it easier to walk the halls and nice to wear for my leak test. Some of the people in my group had their underwear showing because they had no back coverage. -
Mexico Location's - Please Help

You won’t need a drain tube unless you are a bleeder. Sticking to the pre-op diet and guidelines cuts down on complications. I did not need to stay in a hotel. I used Trinity Medical and flew in on a Wednesday morning at 8:45 am and was taken across the boarder to hospital Guadalajara. Once we signed in I was taken to get blood work and then directly to my room. The hospital gave me a nice bag with toiletries and slippers. The room and bathroom were very clean. The tv had many channels in English and I didn’t have to watch any of the movies I downloaded to my iPad. There were plenty of movies on the tv. (Commercials were in Spanish). Dr. Pasten was awesome and hospital staff were great! They all were amazing! The two other people that had surgery the same day I did through another agency went to a hotel on Friday when I flew home that afternoon. I chose my agency based on the length of stay. (I have toddlers and it was more important for me to return home than to stay an extra day to shop for souvenirs) . After my leak test on Thursday they brought Gatorade, apple juice and chicken broth. -
How did you finance your surgery?
Overcomer2food replied to Chunkysoup's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Sounds like you already have $5k? We paid $3,999 for surgery through Trinity Medical at hospital Guadalajara with Dr. Pasten. My flight was only $325. I chose them because I flew in Wednesday morning at 8:45 am and was picked up at the airport and taken straight to the hospital where I filled out paperwork and they did blood work. Then I was taken straight to my room and they gave me iv fluids and an EKG in my room. My surgery was after 3:00 pm that same day. Then I flew home Friday afternoon. All the other places sent their patients to a hotel and I came home to my family. I choose them because I have toddlers and only could be away 2 nights. By Friday night I did not need any pain meds. I researched several US hospitals/clinics and most have the surgery as outpatient so I felt comfortable with two nights and flying home. Also, brought a cashiers check with me and paid the coordinator after I was in my room. -

Any January 2018 Sleevers?
Overcomer2food replied to VSGnewguy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery last week in Tijuana at hospital Guadalajara. It was an awesome experience! No gas pains and the nurses stayed on top of the pain meds. Dr. Pasten was the best! I had better care there than in the US! Good luck! -
Congratulations! You look good!

Anyone having surgery the first week of January?
Overcomer2food replied to redrobin2175's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your prayers. Blessed Herbs - ginger colon cleanse and Trinity Medical. Christmas wasn’t too bad. I was able to use putting my toddlers to sleep and missed all the action. I ended having to tell my sister on Christmas Eve because she kept pushing food. (She’s hosting all the activities at her house). Whose your doctor? How did Christmas go? -

Self-pay vs. Insurance
Overcomer2food replied to Sprinkles1's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I totally agree with what everyone says, but several clinics/hospitals in Mexico follow up with you and have nutritionists on staff to follow you. They are not just doing the surgery and cutting you lose. My top 4 clinics/doctors I researched have great follow up plus they have Facebook communities for support even one gives a lifetime guarantee on the sleeve procedure and work with you if your weight stalls. (Thyroid and other blood work) My insurance takes 9 months to 1 year to approve you for the procedure. I’ve asked for a referral for over 5 years and because I have no other medical issues I was denied. But now my BMI is over 50 and I’m finally being referred. But I have to take classes at weird times and jump through all these hoops which my husband has to take time off from work to watch our kids or we have to pay a babysitter which Is expensive and hard to find for 2 or 3 hours a couple times a week. Including drive over an hour for classes. So we’ve decided to go to Mexico for the sleeve surgery. I’ll update you when I return next week. Good luck with your decision! -
Anyone having surgery the first week of January?
Overcomer2food replied to redrobin2175's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for January 3 in Mexico. I’m on day 5 of the liquid diet. My clinic had me do a 5 day colon cleanse. The natural herbs used made me feel full. Tomorrow will be the test being around family and all the food. -
