Trouble eating and drinking 2 months post-op
nevermore71 replied to dancing_sleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The most important thing is to get in your liquid. Find some liquid you can tolerate. Minimum of 6 cups a day but try for at least 8 cups. Until you do you will continue to feel really bad, weak, and dizzy. And it will only get worse. Some people find it easier to drink broth or flavored water. Or maybe try ginger tea. Try different things until you find something that helps. There are anti-nausea pills your doctor can prescribe to help. Focus on you, not the bullying. You'll be at a different job soon and you won't have to deal with it anymore. Their bullying is a reflection on them, not you. Until then distract yourself with taking care of yourself. This job stuff is just a temporary situation. Focus on getting your liquids and protein in, eating healthy and getting to a good place, mentally and physically. -
Fairlife milk (It's in a blue jug usually with the organic milk) is higher in protein (13 per 8 ounces) and less in carbs. It's ultra filtered and much easier to drink than protein shakes. I was able to get my protein in without the shakes. Using fairlife milk, bone broth, and cream soups made with fairlife milk while I was on fluids. Once I was on pureeds I added cottage cheese and greek yogurt which also helped reach my protein goals.

8 days and no protin and barely any water!!
nevermore71 replied to lorena090's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Warm broth was the easiest to take for me after surgery. Some bone broths have a decent amount of protein. It can really help you up your fluid and protein intake. -
7 weeks out and I get dizzy occasionally. I'm pretty sure my blood pressure is going to low.

I haven't seen you and don't know if this applies in your case. But usually when someone loses a lot of fat they also lose a lot of muscle. It takes a lot of all over exercise and making sure to always to get enough protein for this not to be occur. The loose skin hangs oddly on the bones with out the right amount of muscle underneath. This is what makes people think emaciated and sick. I've seen it time and time again in weight loss surgery patients. Again, this may not apply to you. But keep it in mind and work out and get your protein to minimize this.

Being at restaurants and getting asked "did you not like your food?" and wasted money/food
nevermore71 replied to michaeli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As you eat push your food to the outside of the plate, leaving a good sized empty spot in the middle of the plate (not exact center). They will see the large empty spot and think you ate a lot more than you did. -
POST-OP within 8 to 12 weeks: What are / were the healthy foods you're looking forward to eating again post-op?

Salad, fruit, nuts, and popcorn. My main cravings. Maybe someday down the road be able to eat steak again. -
Need some reassurances
nevermore71 replied to krazyglue12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you lose a good amount of weight before surgery. If so my guess is you hit the 3 week stall right after surgery. There Is no way the body can sustain you on 600 calories long term without hitting the fat. Just hang in there the weight loss will come. You aren't giving your body any other option. It's just kicking up a fuss about it. -
I'm hungry a lot as well. I'm 5.5 weeks out. Almost to the no restriction point. The hunger is slowly gotten better as I progress through the stages. I read somewhere the hunger is due to high acid production. I've also read that when you are on solids the hunger goes away. I hope so. I guess I'll find out in a week.

Me too. Surgery 4 weeks ago on Jan 8th. Have only lost 1 lb in last 2 weeks. I will be doing the walk of shame into the doctors office tomorrow. I've been sticking to the plan and weighing and logging everything. Caloric intake at approx. 700- 800 daily. It's hard not to stress about it even though I knew from the forums to expect it.

What was your favorite food before surgery??
nevermore71 replied to 2feelinggreatagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why not just have a little spaghetti squash with the sauce and meatball? Before surgery my fav foods were lasagna, carrot cake, and zaxby's buffaloed blue salad. Hoping i can get the salad again in a few weeks with the grilled chicken and just add the wing sauce. -
I had my surgery 10 days ago. And I still feel pain when walking, unless I support my stomach. The pain is in the largest incision region. It kind of makes me walk hunched over. Other than this pain is minimal. Do others have this pain? I thought the pain would be gone by now.

Afraid to lose to much weight in preop diet and be disqualified
nevermore71 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, My surgery is January 8th and I'm currently on a low carb, low fat, preop diet. Plus I'll need to do one day clear liquid on day before surgery. If I lose more than a few more pounds my BMI will fall below 40. Will they disqualify me if my BMI falls below 40 right before surgery? Any suggestions on shrinking liver without losing anymore weight? -
Tomorrow i Get my gastric sleeve
nevermore71 replied to barbaraglup's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are taking responsibility for your weight by having the surgery. You should be proud of yourself for making this decision. Whether you tell your co-workers or not is up to you. It's pretty likely somewhere down the road they will guess but it's not their business if you don't choose to share that info. Best of luck with your surgery tomorrow. -
Smoking...struggling to quit for surgery
nevermore71 replied to vanelifejourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit 3.5 years ago. Try Alan Carr's Easy Way to Quit Smoking book and Chantix. The Chantix helps with the physical and the books helps with the psychological. Best of luck. -
Tomorrow is my surgery date too.

You could take some full body selfies and look at them a couple times a day until you correct your self image. For some reason I can see myself as I really am in photos.
