  1. I had band to bypass revision on 12/22. I was fine by the next day and went home from the hospital. Had no problems with liquids. Was walking around. Only needed pain meds at night before bed and the occasional Tylenol. Was off pain meds by the first week post-op. I had a little soreness but nothing too bad. No nausea. Gas pain was gone by about day 3. I took off 3 weeks from work bc I do 12 hour shifts that require physical activity. I could have gone back at 2 weeks. The first week, the main problem was fatigue and weakness. I took a nap every day. Once I could start eating more real food, I had more energy. I have young children and was able to take care of them the first week. Recovery from this has been better than the band for me.

    11 days out weight gain

Yes, I’ve gained 2 pounds in the past 2 days. I’m hungry all the time and don’t feel much restriction. I’m a little over 2 weeks post op RNY. Feeling pretty discouraged right now Lap band 10/2007 revised to RNY 12/22/2017 HW 270 SW 263 CW 252
  3. I’m a little over 2 weeks post op revision from lap band to RNY. The last 2 days I’ve weighed, I’ve gained weight! How is this possible? I’m getting my water in each day, getting my protein in and sticking to the plan. I’m not cheating with high calorie foods/drinks. I’ve gained 2 lbs in 2 days. What is happening?!? Help!

    Big or Small Victories!

Put on a size 16 jeans yesterday that haven’t fit in years. I pulled them out of the back of my closet just to see if they fit but wasn’t expecting them to. I was shocked when they went over my hips and I could actually zip them. Lap band 10/2007 revised to RNY 12/22/2017 HW 270 SW 263 CW 251
  5. I peeled off all of my glue at about 5 days post op bc I was having an allergic reaction to it. At my 1 week post op appointment, my surgeon said it was fine bc she was going to take it off at that appointment anyway. I don’t advise that you do this, but if it’s coming off on its own, it’s probably fine. Lap band 10/2007 revised to RNY 12/22/2017 HW 270 SW 263 CW 251
  6. Hang in there! Each day gets better! I think a lot of us went through regret initially, but got through the immediate post-op phase and are glad we had the surgery. Just keep sipping fluids. Sugar free popsicles helped me a lot with the dry mouth and thirst. You’ll probably feel totally different a week from now. Just take it one day at a time! popsicles, yes or no?

Yes! I loved having them, especially in the first days post op. They go down different than a sip of crystal light. I still like having them. Lap band 10/2007 revised to RNY 12/22/2017 HW 270 SW 263 CW 253

    Purée

I have over a week left on the purée diet then 2 weeks on soft. I’m so sick of it. I’ve had refried beans, the ricotta bake, mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, yogurt, puréed chili, tuna salad, smoothies, and everything from the liquid diet. Anyone have any new ideas for another week of purees? Lap band 10/2007 revised to RNY 12/22/2017 HW 270 SW 263 CW 253

    Pre Op Diet Question

Try Syntrax nectar protein. Lots of flavors Lap band 10/2007 revised to RNY 12/22/2017 HW 270 SW 263 CW 253

    Limited menu, help

Can you have strained soups? Split pea soup with a scoop of genepro protein powder has been great for me as well as the ricotta cheese bake recipe that everyone talks about. Lap band 10/2007 revised to RNY 12/22/2017 HW 270 SW 263 CW 253
  11. A thermos that keeps food warm or cold should help, along with an insulated lunch kit. Refried beans, tuna “salad” made with tuna and light mayo/yogurt and puréed, soups, shakes, yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese bake Lap band 10/2007 revised to RNY 12/22/2017 HW 270 SW 263 CW 253

    Exercise if you can't move

There are lots of chair based exercises you can do. A quick Google search should turn up quite a few. Arm raises, calf raises, bicep curls, etc. Good for you for wanting to start out with good habits! Lap band 10/2007 revised to RNY 12/22/2017 HW 270 SW 263 CW 253
  13. I would ask to speak to a patient relations representative before you leave. Document everything, everyone’s name who comes in your room and what they do. I’m sorry this has happened to you! Lap band 10/2007 revised to RNY 12/22/2017 HW 270 SW 263 CW 253

    Non Scale Victories

9 days post op, down 10 lbs since surgery, 17 total. Knees already feel boney and like I need a pillow between them to sleep on my side. Lap band 10/2007 revised to RNY 12/22/2017 HW 270 SW 263 CW 256
  15. Thanks! Post op day 5 so far so good! Lap band 10/2007 revised to RNY 12/22/2017 HW 270 SW 263 CW 256
