Late December Sleevers?
Livingmybestlife replied to Lotte22's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
NuHi there sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy with work and playing catch up. So my status report is that I have been losing about 1lb to a 1lb and a half a week give or take. Protein shakes still are a No Bueno! I ordered the Fruit ones from the Bariatric Pal store. (They gave it to me in the Hospital) I could stomach it pretty well. I have been walking quite a bit which was directed by the surgeon. He says I can get a bit more into working out 2nd or 3rd week of Feb. As for food I've had 3 bouts of the food revisiting me this is after using my saucer as my serving plate. I have been eating baked chicken 1 wing with bones but super soft. I have had it with Roasted beets. Super soft. Or 2 tbsp of mashed potatoes made with broth. I think I ate it too fast. Breakfast was 1 egg scrambled soft with cheese that was ok just ate half. I am drinking plenty of water and vitamins make me sick. I'm taking all the recommended list items but just ordered the patches. I am hoping this helps. We are doing good and I'm so proud of us. Thanks for the updates it helps! -

Well I tell you I never thought baby food would taste so good. I seasoned it and it was actually ok. Hoping you have less issues. -

I am not sure you should be having rice at all. I was told no rice, pasta, or bread right now. It may be an irritant to the stomach. Sorry to hear that happened. I forgot when he said I could have rice but I can wait. Take it easy and get some rest. -

I agree with you. It can seem discouraging at times. I was feeling like the both of you. Even most of us...the Dr. Released me but, I still will take my time. I am still doing my liquids because I know I can do that safely. You don't want to injure yourself for the sake of self gratification which is how we got here in the first place. Try not to be so hard on yourself, who knows when you get to the soft food it will probably not be all that you think it is. I was only able to have 3 teaspoons before my stomach got angry with me. (It kind of wasn't worth it) My Dr. also told me he wanted to see what my stats were before moving me on to the next thing so maybe they want to ensure your body can handle the next phase. Cheer up you will be alright. -

Good evening all, Today was my post-op and so my Dr. Cleared me for soft foods....what a relief. It was slow going not to mention getting pretty scary there with all these food commercials and playing Chef for my son. I am down 20lbs (this includes the pre-op) at my highest weight I was 296. I am feeling better today. I still get nauseated, I am 4 days from the right amount of protein intake. It makes me quest, hopefully I can get creative with soft veggies. The Dr. said no real exercise until 8 weeks out, but to walk to my hearts content. -

Bariatric Pal offers Vitamin Patches or you can try the liquid vitamins. I think Walgreens or CVS may carry them. I hope you get some relief. -

I have the plant based protein it is fruit flavored and it has been going pretty well. I am 3 days behind on having it but I have been drinking my fluids. Today I had some tuna, for dinner I could only get through half the 3 spoonfuls of the 6 oz. package. I made sure it was very moist as suggested. For lunch I had creamy potato soup. My stomach is getting a little better but honestly I thought the tuna might revisit me. I felt so full to the top of my esophagus. -

Good for you don't feel guilty. If you can do it. That would certainly be my advice for anyone in our situation. I am going to start resistance training next week. Nothing major just with the bands for legs and arms. I am walking every day 15 to 30 minutes and thats not a lot but it's a start. More time is good to get to know yourself good luck with the time off. -

I am still doing liquids too until the 22nd then my plan says I can move to soft if released by the surgeon. I was just trying to beat the system but all I did was beat myself into that horrible side effect. That was a valuable lesson I didn't need to learn since they already told me ahead of time. :-( just disobedient. All that glitters isn't gold. -

I have about a 3 to 4 for pain. My incisions look good. I am doing ok for hydration but getting the protein in is still a work in progress. Thanks for the reminder of the Miso soup I love that & will grab some soon. Now for confession time...I had a frozen wonton bowl last night and every intemotion of just having the broth but the wontons we boiled down so soft that they fell apart. So I figured what would be the harm really. Well when I tell you the few slivers of it i had came back with a vengeance! People I now know that Dumping syndrome is real and better you not do it to yourself. A hard head makes a soft behind as my Gram used to say so going forward I will be listening loud and clear. :-) -

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday! I am feeling better than I have since we started. I am thankful I found Ducolax. My stomach has been angry from all that I have put it through. I am glad that for the most part we are all doing well in the New Year, I mean in the health dept. I am thankful for small victories that is every pound we lose is one pound towards our goal collectively. I wish everyone a blessed day and I am thankful to have each and every one of you here for support. Just wanted to share the positive things that have happened before thinking of a challenge. Be well! -

I too am back to work with a similar commute actually 2 hours in the evening. I did alright this morning however, I made some adjustments for my abdomen. (A makeshift roll so that the seat belt wouldn't rub me) also I took care to take one of the meds for nausea before I left. I am doing my best to get up and walk around a bit like every 45 mins if I am able to. My stomach is at a 6 - 7 painwise. I have my water, soup, and an applesauce squeeze pack, protein for breakfast. Wishing you all a great day! -

Good morning everyone. I had a rough night. I couldn't really get a comfortable sleep position. I too haven't done right by the protein shakes. The smell is like that of Similac so it turns me off. Yesterday when I went out with my son, I drove and yes while I know that wasn't the best idea I didn't really have a choice. I rubbed one of the incisions open a bit with my seat belt and that hurt like the dickens. No bandages at hand so I had to MacGuyver something so I wound up with (TMI) ...a pantyliner covering it and me holding my side like I'd been shot (truth be told I really felt like it). I've heard there are sugar free, low calorie pumps like what is used to flavor coffee which is what I am going to look for. The protein is a necessary evil so short of holding my nose while I drink it. My mission is to find something quick. Happy New Year! -

Lotte I am usually the cook for my 16 year old and since I've started this I really haven't been preparing him much of anything which is horrible because the kid is mostly eating junk. I am patiently...not so patiently waiting until I can get back to preparing healthy meals. My food choices were never the issue really. I think the way and times at which I ate was my problem along with portion. Don't get me wrong I do have my vices such as Peach Cobbler or Cake but that was not an all the time thing thank goodness and after I had it the craving was gone. Any way until I get to the point where I can do that safely I've been thinking of making my own healthier versions of sweets such as protein bars with dates, cranberries, raisins etc which will satisfy that for now when I can eat them. -

Same here I really am not hungry however as far as cravings go I have to say maybe it just has to do with my mind knowing what normally gets eaten around this time of year. I found myself daydreaming about the breakfast Frittata, gumbo, black eyed peas, cornbread, greens, potato salad, pork chops, lol well you get the picture as all these things are my family traditions. I believe my new calling may have to be that of a full time chef. As long as I am preparing food I have no desire to eat. I get more joy and excitement out of others experiencing and enjoying it. -

Congrats and welcome to the group. Take it easy today. Today was the first time since my surgery, I woke up feeling nauseated. I hadn't eaten or drank anything. Not sure why that was...I had been trying to piece the sensations together. What I have come up with is the uncomfortable sensations I am getting are like a rolling from my esophagus to my belly button. Kind of like those massage chairs at the mall when you select that feature and it rolls slowly down your spine. This is what happens when I drink to quickly. I still can't tell when I have a full feeling so I suppose that's good because I have heard that isn't such a nice thing to have to experience. Well be sure to walk a little. -

I too am able to sleep on my side, with a small pillow up against me. Congrats to you for your great progress. I have had some discomfort when drinking even if I wait the 30 mins before or after a meal. Still sipping slowly. -

Thanks for the support. I sure can use it. Like you still in a bit of pain. I don't care for the protein drink. I don't like milk or milky products so I will have to find something else pronto. They gave me a fruit protein drink while I was in the hospital, which was ok. Today I had strained cream of chicken soup 1/2 cup, applesauce, water throughout the day, 1/4 vanilla protein shake I didn't like at all. I am going to look for some sugar free coffee something to go in it. Still in pain but I made sure to walk a few laps around the house. Moving is key. Hope all goes well in the very near future. -

Dec. 26th sleeved as well. I came home with quite a bit of stomach pain. I believe partially to a bit of coughing, and laughing. Laughter is the best medicine with the exception of having your abdomen worked on. I have been given the go ahead to eat from the stage 2 menu options, protein shakes, 1/4 of rice or cream of wheat. I was given the green light for my meds and so far 3 tablespoons of food is what I can get down. Water intake has been slow as well.
