  1. Hi, really wondering what people take or what they do daily to prevent constipation. 3 days ago i was severely constipated after not going for 8 days and i was in EXTREME pain and discomfort for 2 days. I think it was the most horrible experience of my life. It got to the point that i couldnt pee from all the pressure and couldnt sit. Went to hospital and they told me to go home and take magnesium citrate (which is carbonated so cant drink) and to do a fleet enema. I took miralax for a couple days before i finally had to do the enema (sorry tmi) and i finally had relief. I really never want to go through that ever again and im scared its already happening because its been 3 days since the enema and i havent gone or needed to go. Ive been taking miralax daily still and drinking a bunch of water everyday. Going to walk after work and hope that helps with regularity. So any advice super appreciated!
  2. I was sleeved 12/15 and i got hungry all the time by day 3 or 4. What really helped my was doing thick soups like creamy chicken soup. Also cream of wheat really helped too. Once you get to real food again you will notice that type of always hunger go away. I thought the surgery like didnt work but i think its just the liquid diet and i had to do it for a month

    Feeling like a failure

I struggle with my mind wanting to eat because its a bad habit even though im not hungry. Im about 2 months postop and it scares me sometimes that im already steuggling with this. Even tho the food i eat is healthy i want to get to a place that my thoughts arent so focused on “what can i eat?” What i have noticed that has really helped me is improving in firness goals. Im training for a 5k and i can really see the improvement each week. Also ive had fun experimenting with different healthy recipes. Hope we can both stay on track!

    Constipation?

I had really BAD constipation week 3. I waited 7 days until the pain was unbearable. Worse experience of my life. Surgeon recommended miralax. Went to er and sent me home to do a fleet enema. I was scared to do it but so glad i did because it was the only thing that worked. Now if i dont go by second day i take a dose of miralax. But now that im staying consistent with fluids and incorporating more solid foods i dont have any problems and go almost daily. Hope this helps. My biggest advice is dont wait more than 3 days to do something about it.
  5. I had sleeve done dec. 15 and did 10 hr roadtrip 2 weeks later. I took short walks whenever we stopped for gas/bathroom. Only thing i struggled with was keeping up with my fluids. Aside from that i was pretty much in sweats the whole time and had a cooler of protein drinks, soup (which you can heat up in gas station microwaves), and sugar free pudding.
  6. That is so good to know! At the moment im only taking my multivitamin until i move on to more solid food since im sensitive to vitamins and vomiting but ill definitely be looking out for that.
  7. Thank you yeah thats what im taking. Polyethylene glycol is the generic form of miralax. Ill keep taking it!
  8. Yeah the medical group (west medical) that i did my surgery through have patients do liquids for 1 month and then pureed for 1 week then soft foods to solid. I agree its a bit overkill but i figure it well help to get the max out of my weight loss during this stage.
  9. I ate about a 1/4 of a homemade chicken tamale last night and luckily did not throw it up but experienced discomfort for about 2 hrs. I am about a month postop and still on full liquids per my doctor. I know i could handle pureed diet by now but im following the timeline for now. It was my first time cheating and i dont regret it because now that ive experienced it i wont do it again. I learn things the hard way apparently.
  10. I am the same. Day 3 i was craving turkey and cheese. The whole time i was recovering postop i watched cooking shows because it was so interesting to me. I sometimes miss being able to eat a normal home cooked meal with family instead of sitting their with my protein. I am now about 4 weeks postop and feel hungry often. My doctor says hunger will diminish over time. And i notice with heavier stuff i get full fast like with mashed potatoes or cream of wheat. Looking forward to incorporating more normal healthy food!
  11. I had surgery about a month ago right before my 24th birthday. I have a very close group of friends that have supported me and have been excited for me. Im the heaviest in my group and the least active. So i know my weight sometimes keeps us from doing more adventurous stuff like hikes, snowboarding, etc. Sometimes eating out is awkward because i barely eat a side of mashed potatoes. But they know its for my health and what my goals are so they consider me when we pick restaurants and im super blessed to have their support. The day i had surgery i made a huge post on facebook about the surgery and shared some of my fears and excitement and that the purpose was for health reasons and cosmetic was secondary. I think it really helped so i dont have to tell the story over and over again to each person that notices changes.
  12. I didnt even try to keep track of ounces because that is too tedious for me but i would try to get through 3, 16 oz. bottles in a day first 2 weeks and now i try to do 4-5 to prevent constipation.
  13. Im week 4 postop and when i was starting out at home with fluids i would just continuously sip water all day. If i was sitting i had water in my hand. Just keeping it slow and steady to prevent getting full.

    Surgery and period ugggh

Hi ladies, my surgery is this week 12/15 and i just know im going to start my period either night before or day of [emoji849] ive had a few procedures and diff. Surgeries in the past 2 years and for every one of them my period came up to a week or 2 early on the day of procedure. I guess its some kind of stress response triggers hormone change 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ also last month it was early and i got it exactly on nov. 15 so ive been dreading dealing with this huge life change, pain and healing in hospital with horrible period on the side. So my main question after probably too much info is will i be able to use tampons within hrs of postop or should i just resign myself to pads?? Im concerned about the bending over to insert and all that. Thanks
  15. Hi all people on your weight loss journey! I am 1 week post op still adjusting and feeling well. I have started an instagram page for this whole upcoming journey (success and mistakes) and wanted to put it out their in case anyone wanted to give it a follow for support or encouragement. Also would love to follow anyone else that has done the same. My intention is not to become a "trendy" or whatever type of "influenster" but i actually find it to be super motivating and a sort of accountability which is helpful for me because im typically a very low motivated and not very self driven person to be honest. Thanks and good luck to everyone. Instagram: tohappyhealthylife

  17. Hi all, my surgery is in a few days and its all i can think about. Been reading a lot of what people have to say for postop struggles and praises and i have a few questions for those of us that are silently freaking out on the inside lol. 1. What are things you wish you had known before surgery? 2. What is gas pain? And how do you deal with it? 3. What is the normal expectation of lbs lost per week? And what has helped you deal with stalls? 4. How are your energy levels as you increase in time since surgery and increasing protein? 5. For those of you that have been to the hospital for dehydration what were the warning signs? 6. When did you start feeling like you could do a normal day without feeling dead exhausted after a few activities or outings? *answer any and all. Appreciate any input. Also anybody else like me have questions put them out there!
