Wow, just saw what NYU charged my insurance co!
lindaloulynn replied to WorkingMom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree my bills have been staggering. Hospital 27,000, Surgeon 9,000, his nurse practitioner 2,500., Stress test 5,500. Thank God I have Insurance, and work at the facility where I was banded, they remove my portion of the bill. I was shocked at the cost, and wonder how self pay persons handle all these bills. -
Hello everyone I've just begun this journey and could use some encouragement
lindaloulynn replied to Mamapunkerdoo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well for me it was 6 months. I had to do three months of classes and then wait for insurance approval, which took a little longer than expected. I think the average is around 6 months, depending on your insurance companies guidelines. Good Luck. -
My first fill was only 1cc/ml. We tried l.5 and it was way too much, I could not swallow the water and starting throwing up. By the way, cc's and ml's are the same thing!!

surgery scheduled 2/12/09...wow i'm scared
lindaloulynn replied to iwalktheline's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
iwalktheline, I think we are all scared before surgery. I found talking to others who have had the procedure really helped me. You will do fine, I am two months out and am very happy I did not chicken out. -
Anyone have moments of panic before surgery?
lindaloulynn replied to twiggysmiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone has moments of panic. I am a RN so I knew exactly what would happen to me. I was so nervous about being intubated, not the surgery itself. I insisted on choosing my anthes. doc, it was a form of control. I talked to everyone I could who has gone through the procedure. I even cried in the pre-op holding area and all the was into the operating room (they even gave me meds to calm down!!) I knew everything was going to be ok, and it was. But, you have to trust and give over some control. You know your surgeon, now you have to trust him and those who assist. You will be fine, the procedure is over so quickly you will be shocked. -
Sunny (today) Houston Texas.

Hello from HOUSTON
lindaloulynn replied to rainforester04's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello I am in Houston also. Good luck with your new friend. I have named mine, Burppa, because I burp alot!! I was banded 11-20 at Methodist Hospital. Great doc, Great care is what it is all about. I have been able to loose 22lbs since surgery but now at a standstill, but I know it will come. I will not allow myself to get on the scale except once a week that is all. Be sure to take pictures at one month etc. that is where I can see a difference. GOOD LUCK -
I had surgery 11-20-08. My experience was good although I was very nervous. I am a nurse, so I know too much!!! I waited in a day surgery area and was taken to pre-op where they started my IV and gave me something to calm down, remember going into the operating room and the next thing I knew I was awake in the recovery room. Stayed in recovery about 1 hour, back to day surgery up out of bed shortly thereafter and walking the hallways. Up to bathroom and home by 4P, surgery was around 10AM.

First fill scheduled....3 weeks post op?
lindaloulynn replied to amberd910's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I received my first fill 4 weeks post-op. Had some problems with nausea and vomiting and had to remove .5cc so in total I received a 1 cc fill to the already 3cc that was in from surgery. The problems happened quickly and at the office I think my stomach went into spasms, as I was sore for 3-4 days after. Next fill February. -

First fill yesterday, don't notice a difference
lindaloulynn replied to laplass's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got my first fill yesterday, what a experience. I had 3 cc in my 10cc band from surgery, we then put an additional 1.5cc in. I sit up and was very dizzy took a sip and had such pain and nausea. I acutally threw up my sip of water! So we removed all the fluid, immediate relief, and put back in a total of 4cc. So far no problems but my stomach is sore but I ate some yogurt this morning without problem so I will take it easy and see what happens. I was shocked at the reaction I had, my nubby was there and it shook him up as well! It was the first time I thought, what have I done! -
I have to ask, what is a body bugg? I have no idea what you are talking about!
-
Mine is also about 2 inches above my navel. I had surgery on the 20th and the port site is still sore. I have started wearing my pants without the button fastened, As it is uncomfortable to button.

Well respected OB/GYN dies from banding complications...
lindaloulynn replied to mini_me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
slim-n-tn I agree with the fact that healthcare workers are exposed to many more infections than anyone else and are often carriers without knowing. I am exposed daily to all kinds of "bugs" and my surgeon gave me extra antibotics just in case. It is really scary to hear about this though. My thoughts and prayers to the family. -
Good Luck, you will do great. Let us know how you are doing.

Someone please help with this shoulder pain!
lindaloulynn replied to feathermack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 11-20 and now that I can take medications. I have found that a little Tylenol relieves the pain when it becomes unbearable. -
Tummy growling... A LOT
lindaloulynn replied to shanna_j's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Pay for the band! Poll!
lindaloulynn replied to princess_n_thep's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am so fortunate, I work at a large hospital. And since I had my band there everything is covered including any insurance co-pays. I almost backed out and thought to myself, you are being really stupid not to take advantage of this benefit. So I was banded 11-20-08. -
Surgery tomorrow!!!
lindaloulynn replied to trinitiek's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations. I know how you feel I had surgery last thursday. It is all truly a blur. But I had little pain, nothing that the pain medications could not handle and was home by 5P, my surgery was around 10 I think. Good Luck!!! -
I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
lindaloulynn replied to Cappy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Thursday 11-20. I can say I have been up and about since then. Just sore at the port site. Hungry, but that goes away with drinking my liquids, most of it is head hunger I think. Enjoying having my hubby take care of me, maybe even taking advantage of it a little!!! -
New with a question
lindaloulynn replied to maryewilson's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am scheduled for surgery this Thursday. My Doctor said that I would go home with a small bulb of pain medication that will go directly into the port incision. It should last about two days and when empty it just slides out. I did not see a reason the refuse it, I rely on him to be the expert in this area. And if it decreases the pain so I can get up and moving sooner all the better.
