Congratulations on your surgery, sounds like you are doing wonderful. I will be in your shoes this week as my surgery is Thursday. I will not stay overnight and will be sent home with a disposable pain pump that goes directly into my port site. Yikes, I am really starting to get nervous!!!

pre-surgery random thoughts
lindaloulynn replied to imwiththebandfl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same way. I am to be banded on the 20th. Sometimes I am so excited and others I could sit in the corner and cry from fear. I am in the healthcare field and have a pretty good idea of how it is going to go. But that does not always relieve the anxiety. I found that seeing the success stories really helps me stay focused. -
Average age of a Bandster?
lindaloulynn replied to Kellster's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, I am 47 will be banded 11-20 one month from my 48th Birthday. I ask my Surgeon if I was too old. He said if I don't get my weight under control NOW, I will have major health problems in 10 years. That was true motivation for me. -
I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
lindaloulynn replied to Cappy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let me know when you find someplace without phones and with internet!!! But..when I last visited my family in Southern Indiana my cell phone would not work unless I walked to the top of a hill and internet was only dial up!!! That may be as close as you get. -
I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
lindaloulynn replied to Cappy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eleven more days until band day! Pre op visit with my surgeon went well today. Stress test and echo in the AM. So everything is coming together. I am actually getting excited. Hubby is wonderful and very supportive. My employer was not happy because of the upcoming Holidays and staffing issues. I will be off until the week after Christmas due to the type of work I do. Oh well, I never miss work and I have Short Term Disability to cover so I am going to enjoy. -
No pre op diet yet.. Surgeon visit Wednesday and then I will see. Surgey 11-20. Supervisor informed this AM. Things are starting to move along. I am so nervous and scared at the same time.

Band scheduled for 11/21!!!!!
lindaloulynn replied to hefer7629's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hay you will be a day after me. I also kept thinking about Thanksgiving and missing all the goodies. And then I thought, you eat for about 20 minutes and then it is over, I can skip the meal and have the rest of my life to enjoy which one is more important? We are going to the Thanksgiving parade instead maybe a new family tradition. -
I need a buddy in Houston! Also- 3 month progress, anyone?
lindaloulynn replied to luvzlulu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, I am also in Houston. I would love to talk with you. I will not be banded until 11-20, and really would love someone to talk to about it. I think patience is the key to anything, we did not gain overnight and as much as we would like it will not go away overnight. hang in there. What does your surgeon say? -
does everyone have to have an upper gi?
lindaloulynn replied to gitrdone's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No upper GI here. Stress test and echo scheduled for Thursday, a WEEK before surgery!!! They say the stress test is because my age is >45 and I have hypertension. Hope I can do the exercise!!! -
I'm New! Looking for a Doctor in Houston
lindaloulynn replied to LisaMc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I will be banded of the 20th by Dr. R. Marvin. He is with the Davis, Reardon group. For me, the plus side is the procedure is done at the Methodist Hospital in the medical center so...if there are any complications you are where you need to be with the best of the best. Good Luck with your journey. -

I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
lindaloulynn replied to Cappy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just got my surgery date today for November 20. So excited, so scared!!! -
First let me say I just got my surgery date this morning. November 20. I am a bag of mixed emotions, excited and scared at the same time. I will be a mess by the 20th! I am a older bander 47, and the weight has become a burden. High blood pressure aching knees and hips etc. I am looking forward to not hurting everytime I get up and try to go up the stairs. I have one child a son 12 years old and live in Houston. We have been married 20 years this December, a good time to start a new life I think.

Getting Banded in Nov. How much time should I take off from work?
lindaloulynn replied to ~MyNewLife~'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
During my initial visit with the surgeon they suggest 10-12 weeks without lifting greater than 40 pounds. They explained this was to ensure that your port was set and would not flip. I do a lot of lifting in my job and I will have 100% STD for 12 weeks, so I will do what he recommends. If I work it right I may get the holidays off (no surgery date yet) that would be a first!!!! -

I know it is hard to get a time that is right for everyone. If you decide to meet during the week I would love to come. Work every weekend so that would be out for me. Just let me know when and where. -

Houston Lap banders please help...
lindaloulynn replied to courtney2001's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am currently going through Dr. Robert Marvin with Methodist Weight Loss. He is really laid back and knowledgeable. I am in month two of a three month diet program. Surgery will be at Methodist which is a center of excellence. Some insurance companies require surgery at a Center of Excellence, be sure to check that. To find more information go to Methodist Hospital website, you can even sign up for the seminar there. -
Hello fellow Texan. Please share with us your experiences postive and negative. I am in the process of getting the band. And need all the information and support I can get.
-
Hello, I am also new, been lurking for a while. I have been through all of my evals. Just need to do the 3 months of required supervised diet, I am in month 1.5!!! I have learned a lot here both good and bad.
