    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

3/28 sleever, so 9 days out. Have lost 20 since surgery, and about 20 pre-op. Things have gone great for me, my only issue is that I am not sleeping well and I even dream about eating after finishing this full liquid phase in 4 days. I have been planning my menus and shopping list for the Pureed phase and frankly they sound like gourmet foods by comparison to liquids. I can't wait.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Hey, I like the chocolate protein shakes, they remind me of YooHoo! from my youth. If you look it up on Wikipedia the recipe sounds very much the same but without some of the corn syrup fructose.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

The question could be any of these: How soon? how much? and how fast? My doctor and nutritionist cautioned about taking protein shakes and even any other supplements before all the nausea fully subsides. The thing they mentioned is that when having any problems with any new intake that doesn't go well wait a week before trying that one again. I sleeved 3/28 and as to protein I had a half scoop last night mixed with thinned greek blended yogurt and again protein mixed with baby oatmeal and both went down just fine. Just had a protein shake made with water that went down just fine, but only 4 oz and sipped slowly. But everyone is different. Good luck!

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Sleeved 3/28 and starting my first full day of Full Liquids. Just had breakfast: Decaf coffee followed by Baby Oatmeal, 4oz of the oatmeal and 4oz of fat free milk to make it well thinned. Added 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder for protein and flavor. It was great to have something warm with a tiny spoon besides broth. Had some Oikos 000 greek yogurt thinned with fat free milk last night for dinner. So far everything I have tried has gone down well and getting plenty of liquids down. Today I'll have my first protein shake and work on getting protein intake up to where it belongs. While I resumed my prescribed meds yesterday I am holding off on my diabetes med (glipizide xl) because my blood sugar has been in the low 90's the last two days.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Taking omeprazole. I switched to it prior to the surgery knowing it was the preferred choice of my surgeon. While you can get OTC, I am lucky to find that if I get a 90 day mailed order prescription my prescription plan covers it for free as a tier 1.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Had my surgery on Wednesday 3/28, today's Friday. One night stay in hospital and all went reasonably well. Like most, I certainly didn't get any good sleep that first night and I battled a couple of waves of nausea and ohh the pain from the gas. I had trouble differentiating if my pain was from gas or from actual surgery but I guess it was some of both. I didn't really start letting any gas release until about 30 hrs after surgery and then only a little. More gas being released today but it hasn't been as much as I was expecting? But I am sure I have more to go. Liquids have been going down on schedule. I did end up sleeping in a recliner last night as lying down flat in bed just wasn't comfortable. Perhaps when all the gas passes that will improve. I did get about 5.5 hours sleep and am getting ready to try and take a nap. I hope all my fellow March 2018 sleevers are recovering well. Take Care.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

I have tried 7 or 8 of the flavors, and none of them including strawberry had any chunks. I don't any of the 000 do.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

My nutritionist gave directions for fat free & sugar free everything for full liquid diet. Then NSA (no sugar added) after that in pureed diet. I think the real key is the No Sugar Added (NSA). For yogurt she highly recommend a blended greek yogurt with no chunks like the Oikos Triple Zero. It has 0 added sugar, 0 artificial sweetners & 0% fat. I found at least 4 of the flavors I liked. The Oikos 000 has 120 calories, 15g protein, 6g sugar, 14g total carbs. Chucks are fine after you get passed the pureed stage. One other thing, They told me to focus on the protein, carbs and liquid intake. The carbs would cover the sugar since it would be a big driver of carbs.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Great to hear the feedback from all of you March '18 sleevers. I will soon be joining you. 4 days to go until surgery on March 28. Since the timing prevents celebrating both my wife's birthday and our 45th anniversary by going out someplace nice twice over the next few weeks, we are splurging this weekend for a last hurrah. Gonna have my last shot at King Crab tomorrow and nice grilled shrimp on Monday to celebrate with my wife as our last splurge for a while as well. Of course I won't eat the bad stuff, just the good. Then on to the clear liquid diet and magnesium citrate for the last day before surgery. I can't wait for that fun day. I am having to work on helping my wife understand that she will be able to eat relatively normally even in front of me. I think she's afraid of sabotaging me emotionally if she eats when I can't eat much.
  10. Mamamc32, Great feedback, thanks

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Scheduled for March 28 and while I have been anticipating it, I wouldn't have said I was anxious until today. Just called my PCP to get quick appointment today because I am afraid I am coming down with a sinus infection. I am hoping not to repeat a pre-hip surgery scenario of two years ago when I had to postpone for over 2 months because I can down with a rip roaring sinus infection just before surgery. So now I am anxious.

    Help please

Better check with your insurance, because usually you must have approval or clearance before surgery for them to cover it.
  14. Hi there, I seem to have researched this vitamin thing to death. I ended up Taking the Celebrate Complete Multivitamin. It contains B12 at 500mcg. It is very complete and I have to take supplements of Calcium, Iron and Magnesium to get all the recommended supplements. You can get the multivitamin and iron in a combined form, but I chose to separate them. The multivitamin comes in 3 forms: A chewy form in multiple flavors, very good tasting, but cost the most. Then it comes in the Capsules or Chewable tablets. These cost the same. I chose the chewable tablets as I really like 2 of the 3 flavors available. Best deal seems to be from Celebrate website. I also use their chewable Iron+C and Calcium Plus 500 (Citrate) https://www.celebratevitamins.com/shop/individual-supplements/multivitamins.html Good Luck.

    Chewable Vitamins

Check out the Celebrate Multivitamin Chewable tabs. Comes in 3 different flavors, I really like the Grape and Pineapple/strawberry. While it does cost $41.95 a bottle, that is for a 90 day supply. They also have capsules for the same price. They also have a soft chew but they are about twice as much. These do not have Iron, but they also have them including iron. I decided to get a separate Iron supplement chewable also from Celebrate.

    Best type of iron

My nutritionist recommended the ferrous fumarate or the also highly recommended Iron Ferrochel (ferrous bisglycinate chelate) as well. Celebrate uses the fumarate while BA seems to use several different types of iron in their different products that contain iron. Having said that, Remember that Iron has to be taken separated by 2 hours from any calcium you might be taking. For that reason I decided to take a separate iron supplement so I could take my multi and calcium at the same time and my iron later.

    Celebrate Brand Vitamins, etc.?

I am getting most of my vitamins/supplements from Celebrate, especially the chewables as I have found these to be more palatable than some other brands of chewables. Calcium Citrate softchews for my wife, but I use the Calcium PLUS 500 chewable tablets myself. Multivitamin capsules or chewable tablets and Iron tabs or Chewable tablets as well. Proteins and other supplements I get elsewhere.
  19. I am pre-surgery looking at probably a mid-to-late March Sleeve. I know this is a question for my surgeon, but it seems all my questions these days are about medications and it will probably be another 2-3 weeks before I see the surgeon again. I see many on this site say they are approved to take the 81 mg aspirin. Anyone know why they say not to take enteric coated pills? It seems the coating would keep the aspirin intact through the stomach and minimize or eliminate the impact of this Nsaid on the stomach lining? I guess it's more of a curiosity question on the whole enteric thing? Thanks.
  20. I see that many are taking omeprazole, but when I look at the packaging I see it is Delayed release. I thought we were to avoid meds that were any form of delayed release.
