Thanks a lot! I really am at the point where I am changing myself for the better. I cannot continue to do those bad things to my body any longer. My knees, feet, hips... are all feeling the pain. I know how to eat properly it’s just following through without failing the insurance requirements But I’m ready especially for my health heading into my 50’s! -
I'm torn. Gastric or Sleeve?

I have 42 BMI so not needing DS. My doctor is very well versed in sleeve, gastric RNY and DS... he says it’s my choice. I’m in the same city as my surgeon also so everything is very convenient. -

Unfortunately my doctor doesn’t include this surgery in his practice (yet). -

I’ve never had any weight loss surgery but I’m in the same place... which do I choose- SLEEVE OR full GASTRIC??? My surgeon said either is fine and it’s up to me. That he could do either just as easily, the sleeve is just a shorter time wise surgery to for him. The gastric is reversible (not that that’s in my mind). I’m a grazer & I am a HUGE sweet eater and with gastric I know sweets would cause dumping. And either surgery sweets would have to be cut out quick like. One month into my 6 month diet and I’m not doing well 🙁 Again I’m needing help with gastric and sleevers on reasoning for choosing those too 😁 -
I have UHC and also and contacted Optum per requirements (this year lol). I think besides the diet, psychological testing and meeting with a dietitian the rest are based on what the Center of Excellence doctor wants per individual. Your list is extremely helpful for anyone looking for information 👍😁

That’s awesome! Seems like that’s the gist to UHC is the Center of Excellence doctors- and then their facility is all inclusive pretty much. I also spoke with the Optum Health nurse, which she didn’t really give me any information about insurance but... good too know from a patient side. It doesn’t seem like anyone on the forum, I can find, had UHC and problems.

Great info for a current 2018 UHC pre-op. After talking to my UHC Bariatric nurse I already had my appointment set with the Center for Excellence Dr as required. I have slightly different requirements but still the 6 month monitored diet, endoscopy and psychological testing. Everything else is held at the Bariatric Center. It’s really a great place that the doctors work together to have the dietitian, workshops ... whatever is needed right there! I’m hoping I do correctly for the monitored diet plan and progress enough to get approved but not enough to get denied!!
