Where are my 5ft tall peeps at?

I'm 4'11" and my surgeon didn't give me a goal weight, but 135 is swimming around in my mind. I have an appointment Wednesday so will have to ask what they think.

    Late-Feb sleevers

I'm nearly 3 weeks out and am pretty sure I've hit a stall. My first goal is to get under 200 lbs and I've been a pound over it for over a week. So frustrating! Is anyone else experiencing crazy head hunger?

    Photo of stretched sleeve

Thank you for posting this Creekimp 13. It was fascinating to watch! I have my 3 week post up this week and m going to ask about my bougie size.
  5. I was so glad to see this post because foods like yogurt and cottage cheese that I used to love taste off to me. I was wondering if this was normal. I'm still in the soft food phase so am still eating a lot of soup. I'm so curious to know why my tastebuds have turned against me.
  6. Hey Dreamangel1974, Dr. McCarty just did my sleeve on the 15th of this month. I ended up having to stay overnight in the hospital due to anesthesia induced nausea but other than that I've felt pretty good. I work in healthcare and spend 8 or more hours on my feet and I returned to work a week after surgery. I have an incision in my bellybutton and 2 more very small ones around my bra line. Also, I had some pain killers in the hospital but have taken nothing but Tylenol (liquid) since my release the morning after surgery. I would totally recommend Dr. McCarty and the mini sleeve. If you have any questions please let me know!

    Hunger

My surgeon said I could have strained cream and regular soups and I've been living on them!

    Hunger

I doubt you're actually hungry but suffering from head hunger. My surgery was the 15th and all I've been able to think about is eating a sandwich (stupid Subway commercials). My surgeon said I could eat yogurt, which I've enjoyed because it's not too sweet, but having strained soup has saved me. Broccoli cheese and tomato basil. I wanted the salt and broth wasn't doing it. Also, once I started feeling better more of the foods I could eat started sounding and tasting better. Good luck and it will just be a few more days before you get to pureed food!

    Flavorless Protein?

Unjury has a good flavorless protein powder you can mix into cold and warm foods, liquids. They also have chicken flavored protein that turns into a broth if that's of any interest.
  10. Unjury makes a chicken flavored protein drink, like chicken broth, that seems to get food reviews. I haven't tried it. Personally I love beef consomme and beef bone broth both of which have a decent amount of protein. Good luck!
  11. My insurance required a psychiatrist to sign off. The surgeon gave me the name of the doctor they use and it was quick and easy. I have my own psychiatrist but not all of them do bariatric evaluations so I had to go see this other doctor. Good luck!
  12. The sleeve is actually the most common bariatric surgery in the U.S. now and has few complications. I've read studies that state the sleeve can be as effective as bypass so that's why I'm doing it. Plus it seems like I hear about complications with the lap band all the time. For me, it was an easy decision.
  13. It's so awesome that you've done those things to get ready for surgery. I know I need to quit coffee and diet coke but can't get myself to do it! Any tips?
  14. I agree! I haven't told all of my friends or coworkers yet but will eventually. It's reassuring to have people that truly understand what we're going through.
  15. I'm hoping for the beginning of February. I'm beginning to get more excited and less nervous, but I'm sure I'll get nervous again as the time draws near. So excited for a new beginning!
  16. Good luck! I'm sure everything will all come together!!!
  17. Hi Jaz, I'm hoping for surgery in February as my insurance only required one nutrition session and one psych consult. Are you all as nervous as I am? I think it's the thought that this procedure is irreversible. For some reason that's freaking me out! It seems like the majority of people are really happy they had the procedure and I imagine once it's over I'll feel that way too - especially once the weight starts coming off. Would love to have some people to talk to that are going through the same thing. Hope we can stay in touch!
