TMI but need advice...
TexasMommy80 replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It was definitely the milk. I tried to pills and it helped a bit, but not enough. I went back to muscle milk (lactose-free), and I have been perfect and feeling a lot better. Oddly enough, I had also noticed an increased heart rate after drinking my protein shake, and that symptom disappeared too. -
I think I would pass out if I tried to exercise, and I am 2 weeks out of VSG. I am hoping that I have more energy when I am done with the liquid diet. Three weeks of this is hard, and I really want some food. Age: 37 Height: 5’6 BMI: 37 VSG: 4/16/18 GW: 160 MFP: Fit4LifeAR

Waking up after sugery
TexasMommy80 replied to baribetty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I honestly don’t remember a thing until getting to my hospital room and briefly seeing my mom and daughter before I woke up. It is odd because I woke up pretty easily after my knee replacement and gallbladder, and I remember being in recovery. Anyhow, the hospital stay was a breeze otherwise. The most annoying thing for me was having the IV attached when I had to walk or pee, which seemed like every hour because of the fluids they gave me. Some Advice Please!
TexasMommy80 replied to Kay07's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I drove 5 days after surgery. I didn’t take pain meds during the day, but I felt very weak, so weak that I was dizzy at times. Once I was able to move to full liquids, that helped. I am 13 days out and feel great. My mom did help us with our daughter for the first week, and that helped tremendously. Honestly, if your husband is on his way to recovery, I would do it and get it over with. You will need terrible for a few days and it’s all uphill from there. So you got me thinking and I double checked my surgeons brand, and yes...it contains milk. Interesting! I know many can develop a milk intolerance after weight loss surgery, but hopefully it is temporary. The pills you mention, can you take those to help with that? Unsupportive mother
TexasMommy80 replied to lokaaaal8888888's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My mom did not approve at first either. She assumes that every case of weight loss surgery is what she sees on my 600 pound life. I started at a BMI of 37 and she just couldn’t wrap her head around the fact that I would lose weight slower and not end up malnourished and too thin. Now that I’ve had the surgery, she is excited to see where it takes me. Of course, she is still fearful of complications and I understand that. Definitely not lactose intolerant prior to surgery, and the protein powder that I use from our surgeons office is lactose free. Age: 37 Height: 5’6 BMI: 37 VSG: 4/16/18 GW: 160 MFP: Fit4LifeAR -
I am 5’6 and started at 241. I am 12 days post op and I am 214. My goal is 160, although we will start trying for another baby when I am at 170. I am 37 years old and my last pregnancy was high risk due to excessive fluid, due to my weight, so I am hoping that our next one will be easier. I was hungry on my clear diet and I thought only one week of it was torture. My doc recently changed from 14 days to 7 days, thank goodness. I am on a full liquid diet now for 2 weeks (1 week left) and it is so much better, as boring as it is. The protein and creamy soups are keeping me full. What are you addicted to...like really, truly, mess with your brain addicted?
TexasMommy80 replied to Ylime's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think I was truly addicted to an energy drink called power edge. I had to stop before surgery but that was hell. It wasn’t the caffeine either, it was the strangest thing. Oddly enough, my sister feels like she has an addiction to them too. It makes me wonder what they are made of that is causing that. Age: 37 Height: 5’6 BMI: 37 VSG: 4/16/18 GW: 160 MFP: Fit4LifeAR -
Transferred Pain?

I have back pain too but I think it’s because my abdomen is sore. My posture has been bad and I don’t like sleeping on my back, so I am sure that is it. Age: 37 Height: 5’6 BMI: 37 VSG: 4/16/18 GW: 160 MFP: Fit4LifeAR -
VSG on 4/16/18: My journey
TexasMommy80 replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my post op appt today and everything was good except my pulse, it was running high, and that can be seen as a sign of dehydration. I have no other signs and have been drinking 60-70 ounces a day easily, so we are going to monitor for now. I do have a follow up in 4 weeks to see how it is then. I was down to 213 at my check in, and my doctor was surprised at my fast weight loss. He wants me to stick with one more week of full liquids, but he is going to move me through the puréed a little faster. I will do one week of puréed and then move on to soft food as tolerate. Other than that, everything is good. On another note, he mentioned that he had a patient recently that tried to eat a brisket plate three days after surgery. I can’t even imagine the pain.... Quick update: Had a good day again but I was really sleepy at 4, when I was done. I work from home so I thought a quick nap wouldn’t hurt. Fast forward an hour when I wake up and I realize that my three year old got bored with dad, and cuddled up with me to sleep. Now, two and a half hours later, she is still asleep. I won’t be taking a late afternoon nap again...and it’s going to be a late night. Age: 37 Height: 5’6 BMI: 37 VSG: 4/16/18 GW: 160 MFP: Fit4LifeAR -

I like the strawberry Premier Protein, but milk products are causing serious stomach issues right now, so I had to put that on hold. I also like the Genepro in Crystal Light, but I only count about half of the protein. -
VSG on 4/16/18: My journey
TexasMommy80 replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've been feeling really good this week, so it is nice to get back to "somewhat" normal. I decided to try my clinic's protein in chocolate Mootopia today (protein infused, lactose-free milk). I couldn't handle the taste of the protein in water, so I thought it would end up as just $50 wasted. To my surprise, the chocolate milk completely erases the protein flavor, woo hoo. Best of all, between the two, one 8oz cup is 42g of protein. Talk about a win! We went to t-ball again last night and I have noticed that I am struggling with the heat right now. We are usually around 85 degrees this time of year, but yesterday it got up to 93. I did feel a little queezy about halfway through the game, but nothing worrisome. It made me realize that having this over our summer, with 100+ days, would be terrible. Now instead, I will be healed enough to enjoy those healthy summer foods while in the pool. Too bad I can't indulge in a cocktail too, LoL! -
Taking NSAIDs Post-Op

I might have y’all beat!! My mom convinced me to get the staple in the ear with her. Y’all, that hurt like all heck!! ...and I didn’t lose any weight. 🤣🤣🤣 Age: 37 Height: 5’6 BMI: 37 VSG: 4/16/18 GW: 160 MFP: Fit4LifeAR -
Our clinic recommends powdered collagen so I take that religiously. I know there is not much I can do to stop it when I starts, but I have really fine hair so I can’t afford to lose a lot. I also plan on buying hair fibers when time comes, those seem to cover it pretty well. Age: 37 Height: 5’6 BMI: 37 VSG: 4/16/18 GW: 160 MFP: Fit4LifeAR

Relationship changes
TexasMommy80 replied to Shereseed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My boyfriend of 5 years is a body builder but prefers a more curvy woman. He was really against me having the surgery at first. Now that the surgery has passed, he has been great. He is going to help me with a weight lifting program starting in a few weeks, so I am excited about that. I’ve always been athletic, even though I am heavier, I just had issues with portion control. I also know my confidence has been suffering the past few years, so I think this will be so good for us. Age: 37 Height: 5’6 BMI: 37 VSG: 4/16/18 GW: 160 MFP: Fit4LifeAR -
