    Late December Sleevers?

6 day stall after GAINING 3 lbs on day 7 post op. I posted before and people say this happens, but I’m still feeling super bummed. I’m exactly two weeks out and have lost only 7 lbs since surgery.
  2. Hi everyone. When I first saw a 3 lb weight gain I wrote it off as water weight or constipation. But the 3 lbs has stuck with me for five days now and I’m starting to wonder how it’s possible to gain weight this soon out. Did this happen to anyone else? I think my worry is intensified by the fact that I don’t feel much restriction. I can drink water pretty fast and have tried many soft foods and nothing makes me sick. I even ate one MM just to see, and I was fine. Please don’t judge. I was curious. That being said, I am not over eating and am consuming very few calories so I think I should be losing. Thoughts? I’m scared this won’t work for me

    11 days out weight gain

I lost 14 on the preop diet, then 10 more by day 6 post op. Then I gained 3 lbs in one day and now at 11 days post op I’m still only at 7 lbs down since surgery. I have not been perfect on my post op diet, but I have not been consuming many calories at all.

    Late December Sleevers?

I’m 10 days and only down 7 lbs. I was down 10 at 7 days but then I gained 3 lbs. at first I thought it was just water weight, but it’s stuck for three days, so I have no idea what’s going on. There should be no way I could gain weight on a liquid diet!

    Late December Sleevers?

These posts worry me a little. I’m 8 days out and I can gulp water, feel little restriction and there hasn’t been a single food that has caused me any problems. The only effect from the surgery that I feel is lack of hunger. This may sound great to you if you are having difficulties, but I wonder if this surgery may not work for me. Is that possible? I have not eaten much and have been pretty good on my diet, so I’m good so far, but...

    Late December Sleevers?

I’m doing well. Still some soreness and discomfort. I over exert myself (by necessity) and I haven’t been perfect on the post op diet. But I’m getting through it. I discovered miso soup yesterday. It’s a clear liquid with tons of salt so it helps water retention and is soooo delicious! How are you?
  8. Ok, so I know all post op instructions are different. My doc says two weeks full liquid before surgery and two weeks after. I’m one week post op so I’ve had nothing but protein shakes and broth (I don’t do jello) for three weeks. I’m very sick of protein shakes to the point where it’s very hard to get enough protein. I found a bariatric surgeon who makes videos for patients on line and see that he has recipes for making post-op protein shakes from scratch. PB2, Banana, Greek yogurt, flavorless protein powder. I tried it yesterday and it was so much better and didn’t hurt my stomach. The only ingredient that my doc doesn’t allow is banana. So I guess I cheated. My question is if you all were allowed fruit in your shakes 1 week post op (well blended of course). I do not need to be told to follow my doctors orders. I know I should. But if this one change is acceptable to other doctors and is just enough to get me through the next week, I may do it. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

    Late December Sleevers?

I definitely want to eat. Real bad. Tonight we went out for my dads birthday and it was torture. But I don’t really feel physical hunger.

    Late December Sleevers?

I lost 13 lbs on the pre-op diet and 11 lbs since surgery, totaling 24lbs. I’m so happy!! Before surgery it was nearly impossible for me to lose even ten. I’m glad to be getting some positive feedback.

    Late December Sleevers?

I have two 3 year olds. It’s pretty tough not being allowed to lift them. Even just my diaper bag is more than ten lbs!! It’s easier said than done to focus on your recovery when one kid needs one thing and the other is screaming from a stubbed toe good luck to you!

    Late December Sleevers?

Hey guys. I’ve recently gotten back to daily life since my husband had to go back to work and my family just doesn’t work with me resting. I was sleeved on Dec 26. Yesterday I cleaned house, today I ran errands and did a huge grocery shopping. I had a store person load into my car, and my husband unload at home, but I’m SORE!!! I feel like I did a thousand crunches. Anyone else feel muscle soreness? Can I hurt my sleeve by being too active?

    Fruit smoothies

That’s interesting that you weren’t allowed fruit until 8 weeks. All doctors are so different!!! Mine said I could start swimming at 2 weeks (for exercise) and someone else I know was told she couldn’t exercise for three months! I wish they’d just do some research and decide what’s best, because now I’m worried that swimming at 2 weeks is too soon.

    Fruit smoothies

Thanks for the input. My NUT is NOT open to any changes and gets annoyed at even asking questions, unfortunately. Thanks for the input on berries. I hadn’t thought about the tiny seeds before. Luckily my body tolerated the banana well. I’ve only done it once.

Are carbs bad for healing? I know they aren’t good for weight loss, but how does it cause a leak or other complications?

    Surgery in 2 days

I had doubts too. Then I made a list of all the pros and cons and compared them. Somehow writing it out made me able to view the decision more objectively rather than from a place of panic. Once I decided to do the surgery, I made a video just for myself. In it I spoke to my post op self reminding me why I did this. I also did a full body shot at the end. I’m a week post op now and the video has kept me strong and on track. I highly suggest it. Also, this surgery isn’t for everyone, so if you decide not to do it, there’s no shame in that either.
  17. I’m one week out today and was worried about the same thing. I can drink a protein shake in 15-20 minutes. I don’t wanna overdo it and wonder why my body isn’t sending me clear signs. So glad to hear I’m not the only one!

    Late December Sleevers?

Hey guys. I have no problems drinking the protein shakes, but I am getting mighty sick of them after three weeks of almost nothing else. I found this bariatric surgeon on YouTube who makes great videos on all sorts of topics related to WLS. I’m pasting a link here to his suggestions for a better protein shake. For those of you who don’t tolerate the store bought ones, maybe this would be better? It’s at least healthier.

I lifted more than I should and now I’m in a lot of pain. So scared I damaged my sleeve! In bed hoping rest will help. Ugh.

    Late December Sleevers?

Hey guys. My surgery date was 12/26. Yesterday I felt pretty good. Discomfort in my stomach off and on, but had energy and was ok. My doc says each day is supposed to get better. But today I feel awful. A little dizzy, get out of breath just walking to the kitchen, heart rate goes up 30 beats just from sitting up, and generally tired. I’ve stuck to the liquid diet, but like I said in a previous post, I don’t get clear signals when I’ve eaten too much. I try to drink 3 protein shakes, one 6oz yogurt and 64oz water a day because that’s what my nutritionist said to do. But when I read your posts and see how little others are eating, I worry I’m overdoing it. My symptoms fit somewhat with a leak and I’m really scared that I’m messing things up. Why would I feel so much worse today than yesterday? Has anyone else experienced a backslide like this?

    Late December Sleevers?

Hi. My gas pains are almost gone—thank God!! That was awful. I’m feeling pretty good, but I have waves of pain in my stomach at random times, and often when I swallow. My biggest issue is knowing when to stop. Everyone says you will feel full and know, but my tummy feels off and on pain all the time and doesn’t seem to correlate to what or how much I’m eating. So either I’m just not good at reading the signs yet, or my body isn’t sending consistant signals for when I’m hungry or full. I’ve felt neither sensation so far. I read others saying they can get down only two bites of yogurt 5 days out, but I ate almost an entire yogurt just at breakfast the 2nd day out! I’m confused. I’m not hungry, so now I’m just stopping randomly when I think I’ve eaten about as much as I should be able to eat. I don’t want a leak!!! We gotta just keep trekking along and hope we are navigating this whole new territory right.

    Late December Sleevers?

I miss food too. I’m not hungry, but I have a hard time sipping my protein shake while my family eats delicious, balanced meals. It’s even worse that I am still the one making their meals. Just today I’ve made apple/banana oatmeal with yogurt, a chicken sandwich with avocado, popcorn, and for dinner I made chicken sausage and spinach orzo. Man, that’s tough!!! But I keep telling myself that I’m only 1 month I can eat with my family again, only smaller portions. Think how fast a month goes by. That thought is giving me strength. Hang in there!!
  24. Hi. I’m on day 4 now. Still a ton of pain. I haven’t had a bowel movement in 5 days so I’m wondering if constipation could be causing some of it. My dietician said I could use fiber powder during my pre-op diet. I’m wondering if it’s ok to take post-op too. Anyone have experience with this?
  25. I just checked in for my surgery today. The registration person said this is an outpatient procedure and I’m going home this afternoon!!! This comes as a huge surprise and makes me nervous? Aren’t IV fluids and pain meds important the first couple days???? I’m very nervous going home today. Did anyone else have an outpatient vsg?
