  1. Anyone scheduled for sleeve in late Dec? Mine is on Dec 26, and I’d love to be in touch with others going through it with me.
  2. I’m embarrassed to ask this, but here it goes... ive stuck to my pre-op diet almost perfectly. The only times I’ve messed up are once my friend only had 2% milk so I used that for my smoothie, and I took one tiny tiny bite of grilled chicken. So, pretty darn good. But my poops are rock solid! How can this be when I’m on a liquid only diet? Is this normal? I haven’t been counting my water ounces. Maybe I’m not drinking enough water???

    6 week stall

Anyone else stall for over 6 weeks??? I’m feeling really discouraged and scared. I’m 28lbs til goal and have lost 28 since surgery (43 total). Normal?

    Light headed

I’m exactly 2 months out and I’ve been very light headed. No other issues. But sometimes I get so dizzy I have to lean on something so as not to fall. Is this normal? What causes it?
  5. I had surgery on Dec 26, 2017. I’ve lost only 21lbs since surgery, and 34 total. I got down to 173 and stayed there for a whole week, so I think it wasn’t scale error. But now I’m at 179 and have stayed here for over a week, so it can’t just be water weight. I went up 6 lbs literally over night, not gradually. This is worse than a plateau!! I’m less than two months out. Could my weight loss be over? I stay under 1,200 caps and over 65 protein a day. I don’t drink as much water as I should, but I’ve increased water a lot from pre-surgery. I try to keep carbs under 50 a day. I work out for an hour five times per week and definitely feel stronger. I know muscle weighs more than fat, but from what I’ve read on line, one can only gain 0.5-1 lb of muscle per week, so I have a hard time believing a six lb weight gain is all muscle. What is going on???? PS. 1200 Cals May sound high, but with my work outs, and the fact that I rarely eat 1,200 and am usually around 1,000, I don’t think the calories can be to blame.
  6. Is it a stall to gain 6 lbs?

    Late December Sleevers?

I'm stalled too. This is my second stall since surgery on Dec 26. It is very frustrating. In my case, I feel little restriction. I'm hoping it's a stall and not a permanent stop. Very scared about that. I've been exercising though, so hopefully my eating more calories will even out with exercising five days a week.

    Late December Sleevers?

I haven't lost anything in a week and only 16 lbs since surgery on Dec 26. My doc said my weight loss is great, but when I look on here it seems pretty low...

    Late December Sleevers?

Anyone else hate yoga? My doc cleared me for exercise so I went to a yoga class this morning. I was the youngest by at least 30 years, yet I couldn’t do any of the poses. It’s so depressing.

I can eat a lot too. It’s kinda demoralizing. I worry about my long term success.

    Late December Sleevers?

Hi. I have lost 14 lbs since my surgery on 12/26 too. I am currently at 185, which means we are almost the same and started at almost the same weight too! My doctor said that weight loss can be slow the first month as your body heals and gets used to the new stomach. Also, we can't compare ourselves to the typical weight loss because we have less to lose than most and ours is bound to be slower. Hang in there.

    Indian Food

OMG. I’m on mushies and have been tolerating everything so far. Tonight I decided to go a little rogue and went out to Indian food with my family. I’m not sure if it’s strictly a cheat, because all the food was very mushy, but I’m sure the sauces had sugar in them. I ate no bread or starches, so I don’t feel too bad about it. I feel almost high and elated. It was so good. I got everything mild, and nothing disagreed with me. If you are in mushy stage and you’re bored of what you’re eating, I highly recommend Indian food. Of course you have to get the vegetarian stuff with no chunks of meat in them. It was sooooo good!!

    Indian Food

I honestly can’t decide if I’m lucky. In the short term I certainly am. I have zero problems so far. But so far, not over eating boils down to pure willpower for me. I’m fresh out of surgery and super motivated now, so it’s working. But if I don’t feel limitation, and success relies just on my willpower, I’m afraid that long term I’ll be no more successful than I was dieting before surgery. So far I’ve lost 14lbs on the preop diet, and 14lbs since surgery. So far, so good! im sorry you are having a hard time keeping things down. It sounds awful. Hang in there. Things change day by day.

    Indian Food

The Indian food went down better than cottage cheese. Try it. The veggies are super soft and it’s mostly yummy gravy.

    Indian Food

I ate at least 3/4 a cup tonight and could’ve eaten more. I stopped myself because I’m afraid of eating too much. I get no full feeling or discomfort. Very unusual for only 3 weeks post op. I hope that will come with time. It was so hard to stop!
  16. Lotte22

    Indian Food

Yes, but I’m only 3 weeks post op. So not yet. Eventually!
  17. I’m two weeks out on puréed and today I ate about 1000 calories? I don’t feel much restriction or hunger, but I’m so excited to be allowed to eat and I wonder if I went overboard. Is 1000 cals too much this soon?

    1000 cal/day 2 weeks out

My experience seems radically different than most because I could eat far more than 1000 calories a day even without refined carbs. My hunger is reduced, but my ability to eat, not so much. I’ve never tested to see how much I can eat, but by week 2 I already had to count calories to make sure I don’t go over. On the one hand I feel lucky. No vomiting, little pain, can eat and drink comfortably. On the other hand, if my success is going to rely mostly on my will power, I won’t be any more successful than I would’ve been without surgery. The lack of hunger helps me now, but long term I hear your appetite comes back. When it does, I won’t have the restrictions to guide me. I’m scared. For the time being I’m doing well, tracking and doing pretty good on protein.

    Late December Sleevers?

I’ve tried, but I can’t get it much higher. There’s just not enough hours in the day to eat/drink what they tell me to. I get between 60-80g of protein a day and keep calories between 600-800. I don’t measure water, but I sip throughout the day. Probably not meeting their recommendations, but definitely not dehydrated.

    Late December Sleevers?

7!! 71 would put me at goal! Wouldn’t that be nice I’m three weeks out today and 8lbs down.

    Late December Sleevers?

I lost 7lbs the first week after surgery and then stalled for two weeks. Not a single ounce lost after one week post op!!! This morning I lost 1lb, so hopefully that means my stall is over. It’s extremely frustrating! But I have been told it is normal, and you will get through it.

    1000 cal/day 2 weeks out

This is how I’ve been taught to eat as well, so I feel conflicted about my Nutritionists recommendations. I eat meat now but was a vegetarian for 8 years so I have a taste for plant proteins and don’t feel good eating meat meat meat. I’ll do what it takes though.
  23. Lotte22

    1000 cal/day 2 weeks out

That sounds really difficult, but what a loss! Congratulations. I’m wishing I had more restrictions because so far I feel little difference and am worried this won’t work for me.
  24. Lotte22

    1000 cal/day 2 weeks out

Thank you for your response. I’m glad to hear I haven’t failed at week 2. I am capable of eating so much more than most at this stage, and it scares me a little. Another question: in my study of nutrition I was taught that beans and lentils are a very healthy source of protein. But my Nut counts them as a starch and says they don’t qualify as a “protein first” food. I love black beans and hummus. Do others’ doctors count these foods as carbs or as protein?

    Late December Sleevers?

Had my 2 week post op apt today and am cleared for soft/puréed foods! Yippee. I celebrated by taking myself out for sashimi. I ate four pieces and nothing else and I feel too full!!! I’m happy because I was scared I couldn’t feel full since my sleeve. Things are looking up, and now I know that I can only eat two pieces of sashimi
