Can you eat spicy food after the band?
KelinTx replied to angelface's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The spicier the better for me. Ive not had any issues with spicy food. Its sometimes a bit challenging to wait a few hours to drink something after a spicy meal though. -
When can we start to drink coffee?
KelinTx replied to Benellid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go for it. I was never on coffee restriction either. I had it the day after surgery and did not suffer any consequences. -
Can bandsters eat corn on the cob?
KelinTx replied to angelface's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can still eat corn on the cob but only one of the mini ears! That seems to satisfy the corn cravings. -
Recommendation on cheese thats good for you!
KelinTx replied to Brandy~'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Im a huge cheese fan as well ! One of my all time fave snacks is a wedge of laughing cow lt cheese (35 calories i think) on a celery stalk. Filling and tasty as well. -
I think i would describe my funny body shape as a pregnant spider! Thin in the face and legs. I carry all my weight from my boobs down to my bikini line.

three weeks post op
KelinTx replied to LanclosMomma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI weight4change, i just read your post i also have the 11cc band. Im currently filled to 10cc. It sounds like your progressing nicely. I did however want to comment on your post saying about eating chicken nuggets and sandwiches at 4 weeks out. Id be so very cautious with that you could really hurt yourself eating a sandwich being banded only a month. Good luck to you! -
No catheter here!

Healing after surgery
KelinTx replied to cathychatts's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was put in a very simple way to me. Your stomach is a muscle, you have to work that muscle to digest food. After surgery you dont want to work it you want it to heal. Simple enough for me to understand and adhear to. -
I remember mine very well.......my husband said to me, since you will be very restricted on what you can eat soon why dont you pick out all your favorite restaurants and we will go there Saturday and Sunday nights for nice dinners. So we did this for a month prior to my surgery date. MY god what a food fest. <shakes head>

I will freely admit that i do not deny myself. If i want something that is not really considered good for me i have it. Thankfully my lapband enables me to be satisfied with 2 or 3 bites of the wanted thing. I never let myself feel deprived of something because that leads me to self destructive behavior, and i can tell you two or three bites is just as good as having an entire serving in my book now!

Already Testing...
KelinTx replied to COSkinnyGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mark it up as a bad decison and move forward. Your stomach just went through an operation a week ago. Im sure you do not want to risk injury or harm to yourself or your band by pushing it this early in the game. By adhearing to your afterband rules you will lessen your chance of complications down the road. Hang in there eventually you will be able to eat normally once again. -
I thought that was a great question and was glad to read the replys. Very helpfull indeed.

Addiction - the real reason behind obesity?
KelinTx replied to abckids's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also am a food addict and am in the process of looking into finding a therapist to find out why i have obsessive thoughts about food. I just want to be one of those normal folks who isnt constantly dreaming and thinking of food. I wonder is it possible? Can someone really make all those thoughts dissapear? While my band certainly is working for me i can honestly say im still the person who wants to eat the entire package of anything. Thank god my band keeps me from doing so. -

Seminar - not so excited now
KelinTx replied to MargieM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
WOW i must say this post just floored me. I would check out a different doctor to see what his/her view is. I can personally tell you that i have had sugar/milk/alcohol since being banded and im alive an kicking! Ive also never limited myself to 1oz of food. Dear lord who could survive on that. Granted each doctor has different rules and requirements im sure but these sound on the far end of extreme! -
I also used Dr. Benavides and have been nothing but happy with the results.

Mtanna.....hi from Mckinney Tx! I also used Dr Benavides and attribute part of my success to having such a great experienced Doctor. Ive been problem free. Good luck in your journey and welcome!

Need some mushie ideas....please
KelinTx replied to mama59's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always just eye-balled the amount of the ricotta cheese but the end result was about 3/4 cup after it was all mixed together -
My fills (10 of them) have all taken a few days if not an entire week to kick in. Makes no sense to me but that seems to be the way it goes for me.

One of my faves was taking some Ricotta cheese mixing in a few Tbs of spaghetti sause and a lil shredded mozarella and microwave till hot, stir it all up and u have what tastes like lazagna minus the meat. Very tasta and filling as well. -
